The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is a truly charming and fully enjoyable title, but it clearly lacks variety and content.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince doesn't have the best puzzle and platforming mechanics nor the longest adventure. What it does have, however, are unique, charming visuals and a story filled with so much heart, everything else fades into the background. Throughout my short journey I smiled, laughed and cried — sometimes with joy. Maybe I'm just a sentimental sap. But this game is a wonderful reminder why I fell in love with video games.

As wonderful as the art and soundtrack are, and for as much as I enjoy the story, they can't quite save what is otherwise a pretty standard puzzle-platformer. The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince only ever comes close to meeting its potential in the final stage of the game, and that's not an exaggeration. Every time it flirts with some creative concepts, it quickly retreats to its quotidian comfort zone. I personally love this game because I enjoy a good fairytale, but unlike the titular prince, I'm not so blind I can't see everything that's wrong with it.

Although The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince's story and presentation are beautiful, its often frustrating and tedious gameplay makes it a difficult game to enjoy.

The hard thing about The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is I enjoyed the story and found the ending charming, something that also holds true for the graphics, there just isn't a lot of content. Without using any guide I managed to platinum it in under five hours and could've likely done it even faster if I did. When you figure the experience isn't quite as engaging as previous titles and there simply isn't a ton of content or even the fact cut scenes seem to be unskippable, even if you previously watched them, it's hard to recommend The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince continues Nippon Ichi Software's tradition of visually compelling games that sadly feel a little lacking in the gameplay department. This adventure of a wolf in human form leading a delicate prince through a dangerous forest could have benefitted from a deep level of puzzles and polish—and yet, in the end, it may still win you over due to its style and sentiment.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is easy to pick up with a relatively quick campaign. The art and music complement one another to pull you into this storybook world. Most importantly, The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince tells a powerful, relatable story that hit me to my core. Don't let this game pass you by.

Once I was absorbed within its beautiful world, I never wanted The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince to ever end. The visuals are stunning, the music is enchanting, the gameplay is addictive, and the story is emotional. Sure, you could see the game as one big escort mission, as you’re escorting the Blind Prince to the witch in the forest to restore his sight, but the platforming, puzzles, and combat all come together perfectly to deliver a truly emotional and magical story.

The brief length can make it feel a little less ambitious, but I can't say I was let down by this whimsical short story of a video game. Lovely art, a cute story, and solid puzzle platforming help make The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince a pleasant ride.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is a title that easily grabs peoples attention. The art style invites one to seek it out and uncover what it's all about. The game succeeds in delivering on its visual presentation. Furthermore, it's nice that a touching story is able to pair perfectly with it. The game's length and puzzle-platforming might be its biggest detractor from being an overall amazing experience as those are just *okay*.

With its gorgeous visual aesthetic and downtempo pace, it’s the kind of game you want to play wrapped up in your blankets with the lights low. This bedtime story doesn’t shy away from darker subjects and star-crossed developments — it wears them proudly, making the game stand out amongst its contemporaries.

Verdict: The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is a game that should have come before to the West. It passes a simple but very catchy message, and makes an easy gameplay, without the snapping pressure. The curiosity to discover the outcome of the tale was the greater motivation, to understand how two people so different, who made mistakes, can approach and fix the imperfections.

There are better Grimm-esque fairy tales out there.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is one of the unique story-based games that can simply attract you. It has a fairly-tale themed story about a wolf that inadvertently blind a prince and then with the help of the forest witch, transform itself into a princess to help the prince get his sight back. The gameplay puzzles are standard but not very challenging and the game is also short in length, but in the other hand, it has very beautiful art design and music. While there are lots of blockbuster games out, experiencing this lovely and beautiful game is very delightful.

Ultimately then, The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is a beautiful-looking game that tells a charming story, but its gameplay is just lacking.

Intense, creative from start to finish, and paced beautifully, The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is yet another feather in the NIS cap. This developer/ publisher understands the Grimm aesthetic and structure better than anyone else out there.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is a charming platform-puzzler with a captivating fairytale aesthetic that can't help but draw you in. Unfortunately, things take a dark turn thanks to clunky mechanics and uninspired level design. The lore is fantastic and the presentation remarkable, but ultimately, it's hard to come away from this game feeling anything but disappointed.

On the plus side, the spacing of the storytelling to gameplay hit a real sweet spot, where neither feels like it’s dragging on or getting tedious enough for you to get fed up. As much as I truly like Liar Princess, as a game, it’s about average. It hits the standard puzzle platformer details as it should, but doesn’t truly soar to what COULD be done with it. On the other hand, the art style, story, and music make up for that setback splendidly. Although it may not reach its full potential as a game, as a story, Liar Princess and the Blind Prince certainly meets its goal. Eight super sweet cotton-candies out of ten.

GREAT - A heartwarming tale of a wolf who lies and a prince with curiosity crossed with a little stupidity comes to your Switch with hours of enjoyable gameplay. The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is a 2D adventure title with puzzle solving aspects that reminded me of Ico from years back and that’s a very good thing.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince definitely lives in a story gamer's wheelhouse, but there's plenty here to satisfy those who may not care about a story in games. But I bet you will care about this one by the time you reach the end.
