BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! Reviews
BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! takes the puzzler series to new heights with the first Switch BoxBoy! entry. With an innovative spin in the form of fresh new mechanics and the playable inclusion of another loveable boxy character, this eShop title will brighten up any puzzle fan's day.
It's crazy how a simple concept such as a box making extensions of itself can be manifested into an artfully unique package.
Despite the move to Switch, levels are still designed in a handheld console mentality, meaning you’ll be able to get through a level in a couple minutes flat; as such, BoxBoy remains perfectly suited for pick-up, put-down play.
A great puzzling platform game that works perfectly either handheld or on the big screen with a bevy of levels that represent great value
With pure, uncut puzzle fun and lots of it, the newest and biggest BoxBoy adventure is also the best
Aside from the bare-bones visuals and lack of online play, BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL! fits right at home on Switch, where future installments have the option to significantly amp things up and adopt a more modern locale that doesn’t shy away from inducing volume. Nevertheless, the game is brimming with engaging content that is sure to appease 2D platforming fans, especially those who enjoy solving puzzles while thinking outside the box.
Overall, Boxboy! + Boxgirl! does much more right than wrong. Outside of some ambiguity in how to perfectly solve a puzzle and a generally underwhelming visual style, Boxboy! + Boxgirl! is a daringly innovative puzzle-platformer.
The worthy sequel BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL! introduces many ideas that make you think outside of the box

BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! is still a pretty good puzzle platformer, although not very inventive.

undefined.BoxBoy+BoxGirl is a successful and enjoyable puzzler with enough new additions in co-op and the rectangular box segments to feel fresh and new. While some aspects of BoxBoy's design are well-worn and overdone in the fourth entry, the entire package is endearingly charming with its minimalist presentation and clever twists that make most retread portions mere bumps in the road that don't detract from the overall fun.
BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! is proof that you don't need thousands of polygons and endless dialogue to tell a poignant story that tugs at the heartstrings.
BoxBoy returns with a brand new puzzle adventure. BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! introduces a brand new a co-op mode and a bulky post-game, but lacks any kind of big challenge.

BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! is nearly everything I could have asked for when it comes to bringing the series to the Switch.
BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! is a fun and interesting game concept that could have been a wonderful entrance for the characters onto Nintendo’s new platform, but falls short in game length and exploration of its mechanics. I enjoyed the time I spent with the game, but did not ultimately feel that the total experience justified the $9.99 price point. With Nintendo’s recent foray into mobile games, I can’t help but wonder whether these characters and this franchise wouldn’t be more appropriate to represent Nintendo in that market.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that the latest entry in a series of simple puzzle platforming games about a mostly black and white, line-drawn square would not be that enjoyable. However, you'd be wrong. Very, very wrong. Against the odds, Hal Laboratory has made a truly wonderful title that is not only perfect for the Switch but is a triumph for the genre itself. And a heck of a lot of fun to play too!
BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! is yet another notable example of HAL Laboratory's craftmanship --a huge game made of a lot of really small ideas and mechanics.

BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! is a wonderful game and definitely one that should be included in every Switch owners library
The newly introduced cooperative puzzles and some of the new concepts are where BoxBoy + BoxGirl shine the brightest, like a yellow laser striking down pain. Even with a bit too much of a samey feel now four games in, and some performance issues when the levels and abilities get complex, BoxBoy + BoxGirl is a swell puzzle outing for the Switch.
