The Legend of Zelda has always had its delightful idiosyncracies --aggressive chickens, sultry fairies, Tingle-- but 1993 Game Boy adventure Link's Awakening has always been one of the most curious.
It’s the perfect game for anyone looking for just the right title to dip a toe into the Zelda universe and proves quality top-down RPGs are not a lost art.
While it isn’t technically a new game, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening looks and feels as fresh and inviting as any new game released on the Switch. It preserves all the strange, playful fun of the original while utterly transforming it visually and mechanically, and preserves everything that made Link’s Awakening a classic.
This is undoubtedly now the definitive way of playing the great game that is Link’s Awakening. There are far worse games options on the market, and as it stands, an updated version of Link’s Awakening is simply a great game in 2019.
An incredible achievement for its time and with the incredible makeover it has not lost its luster. It might be short by today's standards, but it's a dense and rich experience with a captivating charm.

It's impressive how much the simplest acts in Link's Awakening remain so gratifying hour after hour.
There’s no denying Link’s Awakening is a very enjoyable adventure, however. It hits you right in the nostalgia spot if you’ve played before, and even if you haven’t it stands up well against more modern titles.
It's honestly hard to hate The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. Sure, it can be hard to progress at first and not a whole lot is different besides graphics but it's still among the best Zelda games. Add to it the charming visuals and simply fun gameplay and you'll quickly look past the flaws. Maybe not to the point where absolutely everyone needs to try it, though I would strongly suggest it if you like the look or never played the original.
Nintendo once again reaches back to the past to bring back one of its best games – the mobile adventures of a certain warrior in a green outfit. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is basically a brand new game that generates tons of fun even without the cult surrounding the series. If not for some technical issues, it would have been perfect.

Link's Awakening brings us back to a simpler time, when subtler changes to the Zelda formula were much more novel. It's just as charming now as it was back then, but some rough edges and a poor dungeon maker hold it back.
With a host of enhancements that more than make it worth playing for newcomers and old fans alike, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening remains a brilliant example of impeccable design.

Everyone can agree that it is a remake done right from the charming graphics and great music, and there couldn’t have been a better choice of Zelda game to bring to the Switch.

A lot of its strength is predicated on the fact that it was built on an already exceptional Zelda game, and if you have any nostalgia for the Game Boy version, you'll be charmed by this update. The game's only real flaws are its overall short length and the frustrating frame rate issues. If you're a Zelda fan, it's still absolutely worth checking out, and if the frame rate issues get patched, this title will be the best way to play the handheld classic.

It manages to bring new visuals, amazing remastered soundtrack and still maintain the old level design to bring you the ultimate Link's Awakening package.
