Deck13 has learned from the first game and it has notably improved The Surge 2. Combat is visceral and fluid and the limb-targeting system remains brilliant. The level design has greatly improved and the bossfights stand out more, altough there are a couple of dull fights left. The developer still needs to learn how to write an interesting story though, because this one couldn't peak our interest.

Although The Surge 2 is certainly a better game than its predecessor, it still has a long way to go to reach the highs of similar titles.

The Surge 2 beats its predecessor in every aspect. One of the best souls-like games ever made.

With more options, more weapons, and a much bigger environment to play with, The Surge improves on everything from its predecessor.

The Surge 2 is a perfect example of a sequel done right, and in this case Deck13 hit it out of the park to deliver an enhanced action-packed experience with the coolest-feeling combat and a great difficulty curve to match. While not entirely flawless, the sum of all its parts is a game worth the price tag and play time, as The Surge 2 steps out of the shadows of Souls-likes and into its own as a standout action RPG, one of the best I've played this year.

The Surge 2 combines a rewarding combat system with a fantastic game world to craft one of the best games of 2019. Fans of Soulsborne games shouldn't hesitate to check this one out.

The Surge 2 rises above both its technical limitations and its predecessor to set itself apart in the action RPG genre. It could even be debated that it makes a case for being lumped in with its genre cohorts - a case that is strong indeed thanks to its innovation and willingness to change and improve upon the foundations set in the first game. While it flits in and out of being a smooth-sailing and sleekly presented package, it nevertheless provides a walloping good time and can't be faulted for its enjoyable combat and exploration, navigation issues aside.

The Surge 2 is one of the best games of this generation and one of the best action-RPGs ever made. Everything in this game is in the right place. addictive gameplay, deep combat system, amazing leveling up and upgrade system, many unique weapons and armors, high replay value and also challenging combat, made The Surge 2 a hardcore action RPG that after 75 hours of playing, i'm still so far away from put it down! If you love hardcore games like Dark Souls or want to play an amazing challenging action-RPG, then The Surge 2 is a "must-buy" for you, a "Hardcore Masterpiece".

The Surge 2 is a refined, challenging, and rewarding Soulsborne that has its own identity and value beyond the alternative setting. It won't have the industry-wide reverberations that a FromSoftware title does, but for fans within the genre, this is next one they should play.

The Surge 2 still has the same great combat, satisfying exploration, and a mess of an inventory system that remains cumbersome to navigate. Many of the original game's problems are still here, but small quality of life improvements and a neat new setting make this outing just different enough to be worth a look.

The Surge 2 is an extremely addictive and enjoyable game, thanks to its dynamic and fun combat. In terms of mechanics and gameplay, the game is a significant improvement over its predecessor. Unfortunately it ends up failing in the same aspects as the first game. All of this, coupled with various performance issues, eventually takes away some of the brilliance the title had to offer.

Brutal combat and hard enemies - it is great choice for Souls fans, but not for casual players.

From Lords of the Fallen to The Surge 2, you can see how far Deck 13 has come. The result of all their hard work and the lessons they've learnt is evident in the game and makes it an enjoyable experience despite some of its shortcomings. If you're missing Dark Souls, The Surge 2 canquench your thirst. If not, don't expect it to change your mind

Deck13 addressed every single issue that held The Surge back in The Surge 2. It is not even necessary to have played the first, since the sequel has almost no connections to it outside of its gameplay mechanics and systems.

All in all, The Surge 2 is a great game to pick up if you're looking for a more arcade-like take on the Dark Souls formula. It's a fun and engaging game with a solid combat system and enjoyable mechanics, and it's only dragged down by a mediocre story and lackluster environments. With the excellent improvements from The Surge to The Surge 2, the franchise is well on its way to standing tall in the Soulsborne genre. It's well worth playing if you're an aficionado of this genre and don't mind dying a few times.

Perhaps some of the issues I have with the game will be patched or fixed some time down the road, but from where I stand now, there are simply better games in this genre to play.

If you're the kind of gamer who can overlook technical limitations and the occasional glitch or bug as long as the gameplay delivers a unique and fun experience, give The Surge 2 a try. Under its rugged presentation and simple plot the game has a wealth of razor sharp fun in store for you. Mindless fun, to be fair, but isn't that the best kind?

The Surge 2 picks up where The Surge left off and inches forward in both quality and execution. If you are a fan of the previous title you will feel right at home, and I highly recommend it. Even though it has its flaws, it does enough to warrant a purchase if you enjoy Action RPGs, and is likely the best Action RPG (that isn't an expansion) until Elden Ring sometime next year.
