Ori and the Blind Forest Reviews
A staggeringly beautiful puzzle-platformer that remains a masterpiece despite occasional spikes of difficulty.
The extreme highs carry Ori and the Blind Forest through to greatness if not quite flawlessness. Rarely is a game able to be so devilish in its gameplay yet so touching in its story.
I loved every second of Ori and the Blind Forest. It's as fun as it is pretty, which is an incredible achievement when its one of the most gorgeous games I've ever seen. If you've ever enjoyed a 2D sidescroller, you'll definitely appreciate what developer Moon Studios has done here.
Throughout all of this is the lovely music, the gorgeous artwork and a moving story. That intro sequence brought a lump to my throat, but I wasn't sure whether the game would be able to sustain that ability to be affecting once it became less cinematic. But as the story plays out and I completed tasks I was fed more snippets. The game gradually reveals what's behind the tragedy of the forest and that emotional facet is unspoilt by unforgiving and unadventurous mechanical requirements.
Microsoft delivers a small studio gem deserving of a spot high up on any indie game fan's must-play list
It may be too early into the year, but I honestly believe this title to be more than a good contender for game of the year — it's certainly worth every penny.
"Ori and the Blind Forest" will tax the dexterity of just about anyone who doesn't eat games like "Super Meat Boy" or "I Wanna Be the Guy" for breakfast. If that disclaimer doesn't give you pause, know that this is a game that made me want to hug the developers.
Ori and the Blind Forest sets a new standard for the platform/adventure genre, by managing to handily surpass the games that inspired it in terms of storytelling, gameplay, and presentation.
It's a great end to a challenging and scenically beautiful journey.
Moon Studios terrific platform adventure is as thrilling as it is beautiful, making for the Xbox One's best game to date.
As you will understand, Ori and the Blind Forest is the title that every Xbox One owner must have to enjoy his console in 2015. Even though the title is far from the big productions or current standards that make recipe, it offers a gaming experience as too few games know how to do for many years. The game achieves perfection both aesthetically and sonically and plunges us into an intriguing universe from which we have no desire to emerge until we have rekindled the light and joie de vivre that accompanies it. If ori does not yet enchant your days, we impose its purchase without waiting a second more in order to enjoy a session of play from which it is impossible to emerge unscathed.

I died 542 times while playing Ori and the Blind Forest. I was frustrated at times, but this is still one of the better games to hit Xbox One (or even next-gen altogether) so far this year.
Ori and the Blind Forest is arguably the best game of 2015 so far. Visually it is gorgeous and has a beautiful soundtrack to complement it. The lack of load times helps the flow of the game, and the platforming gameplay is fluent and precise all the way through. Difficulty spikes bring a challenging edge, and the escape sections are some of the most hectic portions of any platformer game. Ultimately, I cannot recommend this game enough, it is a must play.
Without question it's the best game Microsoft has published since the onset of the Xbox One era and one that's pleasingly, satisfyingly easy to recommend.
Ori and the Blind Forest is a beautiful, punishing game that harkens back to the classic side-scrolling titles of the SNES. It will beat you down and test every ounce of patience, but not without reward. This is one of those games people will be talking about down the road, not unlike Shadow Complex or Geometry Wars. It once again showcases that there are so many games and so many ways to deliver and experience them; and this is one experience you can't afford to miss.
With a gorgeous world, beautiful music in the background, and a surprisingly difficult challenge, Ori and the Blind Forest will take gamers on a journey that will test their reactions and wits, yet make them appreciate just what a beautiful game has been created for them.
Ori and the Blind Forest is a title that has set the bar high for modern day "Metroidvania" games. From the original artwork and the enveloping soundtrack to the pixel perfect control and heartfelt narrative, anyone who plays this game will find themself hooked from the get-go. Do yourself a favour, don't pass on this game, especially for the price, as you'd be missing out on a really great gaming experience.
Ori and the Blind Forest is an absolute success, a real little masterpiece as much in its dazzling aesthetics as in its gameplay adjusted to the millimeter. The very touching prologue which makes us plunge into this tears in our eyes quickly gives way to an action / adventure game masterfully led by Moon Studios, where the acquisition of each new power revives the Interest of more beautiful and where the ingenious and memorable sequences are linked tirelessly, from start to finish, without being able to let go of the joystick as the pleasure is great.
