If you’re after an alternative to Overcooked, then Tools Up offers up enough incentive to take the plunge, even if it doesn’t quite match up.

Despite a handful of issues issues, Tools Up! is a co-op game that does the impossible and actually makes DIY fun! It might even inspire you to do some real-life DIY. Nah, who am I kidding? That extractor fan is going to stay well and truly un-extracted.

Tools Up doesn't make the most of its clever co-op gaming concept, but I still had a decent enough time. I'll be there day one if a sequel ever takes this home-renovation hook and runs wild with it.

It's an incredibly accessible game, but the necessity to cooperate isn't as strong, and it may not hold your attention as much because there's less going on.

A charmingly clever multiplayer title, Tools Up! takes the madness of Overcooked! and distills it into a far less chaotic, though ultimately more thoughtful set of scenarios that players of all ages will surely enjoy.

While Tools Up! isn't revolutionizing the cooperative play genre, it gave my friends and I every reason to charge up four controllers and start yelling at one another for fun. Whether it's rolling carpets, gluing up wallpaper, or arguing over who spilled the paint (AGAIN), Tools Up! is a must have.

Tools Up! is a local-only cooperative four-player game that doesn't quite hit the mark with all of the mechanics. Throwing feels useless when your character refuses to complete the action, and targeting can be a concern in tight corridors. Playing alone can best be described as frustrating, to the point where I wouldn't even recommend the game at all unless you are planning to play with others. The lack of online multiplayer doesn't help either.

A fun and lighthearted couch co-op multiplayer game with a simple, but appealing home renovation gameplay formula fine-tuned for party chaos!

Once you’ve figured out what you’re supposed to be doing, Tools Up! is good for a few laughs with a friend or two. But don’t expect to take the game seriously; if you’re aiming for three-star success you’re likely to find it more frustrating than fun.

Tools Up wears its Overcooked inspirations on its suspenders. Though it lacks the polish of that game, it is still a co-op party game worth any genre fan's time.

For fans of local multiplayer games like I am you’ll probably find enjoyment in Tools Up! especially if you’re a fan of Overcooked. I highly recommend you only get this if you have others to play with though as it just isn’t as fun playing solo.

Tools Up! may be a bit unpolished but it's fun enough to receive the couch co-op torch from genre greats like Overcooked.

Tools Up! is simply another goof that makes fun of another activity in people's lives. After cooking in the form of Overcooked! and the house moving of Moving Out, you get to renovate a house, which again, you'll enjoy mostly with friends. The title offers a cool challenge, a well-crafted soundtrack and nice visuals that make the gameplay even more immersive. The final impression is spoiled by poorly optimised controls in some respects and a few bugs that can hurt you a lot during gameplay.

If you're a fan of the Overcooked series, taking on somewhat simple actions while under the gun, either playing solo or with some help, Tools Up is looking to capitalize on your appreciation for that style of play...

$20 is a good price for the amount of enjoyment there is for Tools Up!, but given its age, you probably would be right to wait for a sale when the discount is more significant.

Tools Up! is a great game that is inspired by likes of Overcooked. It allows up to 4 players share a screen and have fun not making pasta, but renovating houses. It features plenty of levels and can be challenging in later stages.

Although I did have a lot of fun while playing Tools Up! during the moment, I found myself wanting more from it upon reflection. It is a fun game, but the only challenge comes from timing, essentially. I can see why there would be more chaos with more players, as that would require more co-operation, but… It just felt like it was missing that little something.

Tools Up! is a great entry in the simulation/party genre. It's a blast to play with friends and provides a good deal of challenge. If you have someone who struggles with time limits, the party mode is a great option because the timer counts up instead of down, giving you more time to play. I hope that Tools Up! will be supported with future levels that add a little more creativity and wackiness to the game. It would be great to have more environmental challenges instead of only using lava and slippery floors in later levels. As is, Tools Up! is a great party game that will entertain your family...or frustrate them if they don't communicate well.

While there are other games out there with similar gameplay you could find some a lot less worthy of your time and money. If you’re looking for a crazy team-based co-op game which can be enjoyed by all ages and skill levels then you would be wise to check out this title.
