Persona 5 Royal Reviews
Finally, being able to play Persona 5 Royal on the go is truly a dream come true. There are some downgrades due to the limitations of the Nintendo Switch, but the balance between downgrades and retaining enjoyability has been perfected. It is, at last, time to steal some hearts while out and about!
Persona 5 Royal is an experience that no JRPG fan should miss, pure and simple. While it's an extremely satisfying experience overall, there are some rather visible areas for improvement in Persona 6. Nevertheless, this game is a modern classic.
Endlessly slick, the battles and story are a joy to play through. No turn-based JRPG feels as good as this.
Persona 5 Royal is an intense RPG experience with turn-based combat and a wealth of personality that has stolen our hearts.

undefined.I have had some variation of "Port Persona 5 (Royal) to Switch you cowards" in my writing for years now, since it was my favorite game of 2017 - and given the company it'd be keeping in Nier Automata, Super Mario Odyssey, and the original Mario + Rabbids that's a high bar. It took me five and a half years to get a second playthrough for Persona 5, but the third might be faster than that if I can get through January's gauntlet quickly.
If you already own Persona 5 Royal on PS4, then, there might not be enough here to convince you to buy it again. It’s a more pleasant, nicer-looking experience, sure, but beyond that it’s exactly the same game. For newcomers though, it should be a no-brainer. One of the best RPGs of the last decade, perhaps of all-time, now looks and plays better then ever before. And while it hardly transforms the experience, the inclusion of a substantial amount of DLC sweetens the deal.
Persona 5 Royal is the very definition of 'required reading' for JRPG fans. A deep and moving story, stylish presentation, amazing soundtrack, and decision-driven gameplay all combine to make for an unforgettable and exceptional experience that proves itself to be every bit deserving of the hype and praise it's already received. While those who have played this elsewhere may want to consider whether Switch's portability is enough of a selling point to justify paying full price to double dip, but it suits it perfectly. Persona 5 Royal remains a game that we absolutely recommend you pick up as soon as you can. This easily stands as one of the very best RPGs of the last decade and you'd be doing yourself a disservice to miss out.
Persona 5 Royal is simply a must-play for any JRPG fan, and couldn’t be a better place to start for those who have yet to delve into the genre. If you're somehow a fan of lengthy RPGs full of interlinking systems and haven't played yet, we implore you to join the Phantom Thieves -- they’re bound to steal your heart.
Excellent turn-based combat is carried further by gorgeous visuals, an incredible soundtrack, and a story filled with brilliant twists and turns. It’s available day one on Xbox Game Pass and if you’re looking for a game to put over 100 hours into (conservatively) then do yourself a favor and give this one a go.
JRPG fanatics need to add Persona 5 Royal to their collection. The character development and fearlessness to jump into dark and mature topics were appreciated. It took standard tropes and turned them all in their head. It’s visually stunning, and the music causes an ear orgasm. Atlus really paid attention and polished this four-year-old diamond, making it utterly and beautifully radiant. With the vanilla Persona 5 costing less, is it worth buying an enhanced version? Yes – all the extra content is amazing, and the quality of life additions make Persona 5 Royal the definitive version.
Improvements in the mechanisms and flow, make Persona 5 Royal the typical creation of a development team that on its own feeds a unique subgenre of RPGs in general and JRPGs in particular.

Persona 5 Royal is the definitive way to play as a Phantom Thief.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t even the least bit wary of the fact that I’d have to play through another 100 hours of Persona 5 to really enjoy Persona 5 Royal, but at the end of the day, I’m glad I did.
Everything Persona 5 Royal adds is a boon to the experience but, unfortunately, it’s not enough to fix the deeply-embedded issues at the heart of the original game.
Still, I am confident enough to give this game a solid recommendation nevertheless, if you’re an RPG fan wanting something lengthy and enjoyable with fast-paced battles to play. If you were in my boat of dismissing the original or thinking it was perhaps too much akin to the other anime styled RPGs you’ve seen, then please, I do truly implore you to make an exception and give this game a shot: It’s truly great, and one I’m more than happy to have started a journey with! Here’s hoping I continue to have a good time as I play it through the coming months.
Persona 5 Royal is a title that excels in all sections and that manages to surprise even the players of the original game. From Atlus they were very clear about what they wanted to offer with this part and have managed to sign one of the best JRPGs in history, and without a doubt one of the clear contenders for best games in recent years.

Persona 5 Royal Edition is, in itself, the best version of the best JRPG of the past five years.
Persona 5 Royal is one of the most massive, stylish and fun japanese RPGs that we had the honor of playing during this console generation. An experience, that you won't soon forget and that's very hard to put down.

With a good (if shabby) heart, Persona 5 Royal wants, above all, to win our empathy for the Phantom Thieves. They've definitely earned it.
One of the top JRPGs of the last decade is back and not turned into one of the best JRPGs of all time. Persona 5 Royal is more than just a game, it's an ode to everyone who's into video games and relevant stories.
