A Fold Apart Reviews
A Fold Apart goes on a sadly well populated pile of games that suffer from “good idea, poor execution”. The use of perspective gameplay gels well with an interesting idea for a story. But the gameplay is less than fun, and the story loudly and busily goes nowhere. Not quite up to scratch I’m afraid.
A Fold Apart is a very brief puzzle game with some good and interesting ideas, but it ultimately falls short when trying to execute them.
I would still recommend A Fold Apart for how much fun I had with its puzzles. Just don’t expect wonderful storytelling.
A Fold Apart ends before it manages to make the most of its genuinely unique puzzle mechanics. It feels like there should have been another chapter to the game, really diving into the ingenious mesh of puzzle elements that too often require little more than a few seconds of trial and error to solve. The story A Fold Apart tells is a powerful one, unfortunately undercut by the way it is delivered at times but a beautiful piano soundtrack and art style that’s deeper than it first appears helps it stick the landing.
Unfortunately, taking into account the length of the game, and the lack of any replayability even the low price is too much for this indie game. Maybe an online coop would have justified it, but as it is A Fold Apart is a tremendous creative exercise, but way too short to offer a lasting experience.
A Fold Apart has some nice moments in its narration but the other parts don’t really stand out that much and it’s very short.

If you are looking for a unique puzzler, or want to connect with characters as you live through social distancing, then I would recommend you pick up A Fold Apart.
A Fold Apart is an enjoyable time, but I feel like it’s promoted in a slightly deceiving way. It’s not a cutesie upbeat game about two people missing each other. In fact, it’s a serious look into the hardships of being in a long distance relationship and how quickly things can go wrong when you can’t express yourself properly.
Practical puzzle games don't get much cleverer than A Fold Apart. Although it's a short adventure, it's one that you surely won't forget.
A Fold Apart is extremely sucessful in putting its message across, delivering a relatable and emotional insight into long-distance relationships. However there were certain aspects (mainly aesthetic) that could have been more polished.
A charming puzzler that makes up for some occasionally awkward design with a simple yet intensely personal and emotional narrative
A Fold Apart is a short, touching puzzler with a timely message at its heart.
Telling a touching tale of a couple in a long distance relationship, A Fold Apart is a puzzle game with a bit of a difference and a whole lot of heart.
A Fold Apart is refreshing in its approach to puzzles and how it explores its themes, but it never pushes beyond that into something truly memorable or satisfying
A Fold Apart is a short but interesting game about long-distance relationships. It succeeds in delivering its message with creative and engaging gameplay mechanics about folding, rotating, and seeing the page from different perspectives. Its short playtime alongside some frustrating moments in the gameplay prevents this game from being perfect; nevertheless, it’s worth playing.

Pair that with beautifully-crafted environments, vibrant colors, and a compelling story and you have a game that plays and looks great. If the performance was on point, this would have been one of the premier puzzle experiences in the first half of 2020. Still, A Fold Apart is one to pick up and play if you can look past the framerate issues.
Although A Fold Apart is a short and light game, the strong emotional involvement it transmits is undeniable and many could easily identify with the characters of this title.

When looking at an eShop full of puzzlers and story-based experiences it can be difficult to separate the merely average from the exceptional...
Despite my disappointment with the ending message, everything else was so delightful about A Fold Apart that I had trouble finding fault with the title aside from that. Cute and colorful graphics with relaxing challenges made A Fold Apart a fun little puzzle game to tear through in one sitting, the mechanic utilized perfectly throughout.
A Fold Apart is a beautiful intersection of narrative storytelling and interesting gaming mechanic. Whether you enjoy solving puzzles, exploring emotional stories, or both, A Fold Apart is for you. Heck, if you are just looking for something good to play and don’t know what to grab next, prioritize A Fold Apart.
