A product of its time, Sam & Max Save the World is a remaster dedicated to fans of the series and point and click games, but in the current market, the audience might not be much bigger than that.

There's also no denying that the humor is still incredibly effective. Still, playing the game on Switch is likely to leave you longing for a mouse as the experience just isn't great on a controller. Anyone looking for a strong dose of comedy with their adventure is likely to find it here, but it would have been nice to see the remaster do a little more heavy lifting.

Sam & Max: Save the World Remastered is a welcome sign of life for a classic adventure IP. It feels like it's the start of an effort to properly revive the series in small steps, and that would be great news on its own. The remaster is handled decently, and it achieves what it sets out to do. It updated everything that it needs to, and it looks decent enough on modern systems it. While certainly small in scale, it shines with some good writing and humorous stories that I still enjoy every time I play through it, and that's the lifeblood of any strong adventure experience.

If you've never played Sam & Max Save the World, this remaster is certainly worth investigating. It's kind of clever, kind of funny, and appropriately priced. It doesn't warrant a second playthrough, but few adventure games ever do.

Sam & Max Save The World Remastered looks damn good whilst being charming and super fun to play. For those who love a smart point and click narrative that is super chill and doesn’t take itself one bit seriously, this one has your name all over it!

Sam and Max Save the World Remastered is just as chuckle friendly as it was when it originally launched. Though some of the writing feels dated, and it's not as difficult as older adventure titles or as engaging as modern ones.

Sam and Max Save the World Remastered is pretty much what you'd expect - a modern update to a much-loved classic. As much as I love stepping back into the chaotic shoes of Sam and Max, I'm left a little disappointed by the fuzziness in handheld mode and the slightly confused script revisions. That said, the game is still one of the funniest point-and-click adventures I've had the pleasure of playing.

Thanks to a great remaster and a portable release, Sam & Max Save the World can now hit the road in style.

‎In the Sam and Max series of games there are great games that take this pair of good characters to live adventures without a doubt fun. Sam & Max Save the World is an important moment in the series, even if it's not the best game in the series. Its crazy story, its black humor will always amuse you. And if you like point-and-click games, this should certainly be a candidate to reach your library. Its flaws are clear: solving puzzles can be more difficult than it should be because the logic of the game can be an obstacle. In addition to an uncomfortable control.‎

Great game, great remaster, great port for Nintendo Switch. But the change of voice over for Bosco and changes of some dialogues feel really forced.

When Sam And Max was announced, I was excited about returning to it after so long. Being a big fan of point-and-click adventures and episodic games this had a lot going for it. The humour throughout gave me laughs and that wasn’t always limited to the main characters. What I would love to see next is a brand-new adventure. However that is my one criticism of a number of titles lately. It is for this reason Sam and Max Remastered receives the Thumb Culture Gold Award

Sam & Max Save the World, just from the principle that it is a remaster, does not bring any revolution in the field of point and click adventures. However, this is a great remaster, and if you did not play the original part, you just want to enjoy a moment of nostalgia, but in a modern resolution and without problems, or you like logic games that really need to think and the game will not give you any instructions, We highly recommend Sam & Max Save the World.

Its six episodes offer laughter and plenty of searching around, ingredients that are essential for a title of this kind.

Despite not having all of the same humor as the original, it still has the same storylines and puzzles as before. Returning fans to the game should have no problem jumping right into the action. Plus, people unfamiliar with the game will be delightfully entertained by its wackiness and hare-brained schemes (see what I did there?).

Bar a few niggly control issues, this is a great port of the game. Quirky humour, a lovely soundtrack and a story that keeps you engaged. It's a little on the easy side, but with six episodes you do get your money's worth.

Sam & Max Save the World is notable for starting Telltale's reign over episodic games that lasted for nearly a decade. Upon a revisit, it's easy to understand why. The writing oozes in charm and wit, and solving some of the trickier puzzles requires quite a bit of detective-work. While a few quality-of-life upgrades introduced in later Telltale Games would have been appreciated, the visual enhancements are still welcome. Hopefully, Skunkape Games remasters the other two seasons of Sam & Max, as well, because this is a case that deserves to be revisited for years to come.

This six-episode compilation remains just as entertaining as it ever was, and the new remaster means it feels far more stable than before. It's not the truly jaw-dropping complete makeover some may have been hoping for, but the former Telltale staff behind this remaster have clearly decided that they shouldn't fix what wasn't broken. Except the broken bits. But they've been fixed.

Sam & Max make a largely triumphant return, with a reminder of just how special and stupid a series it can be. Save the World benefits the most from the overhaul, but Beyond Time and Space remains the peak of this former Telltale Games series.

Point-and-click narratives are fairly rare nowadays and this remaster gets more than the job done, offering a good time for old and new fans. Better yet, it brings back an old forgotten style, reminding us that, sometimes, perhaps the most simple way to tell a story might be the best way.

Sam & Max Save the World Remastered is a great revival for the franchise and Skunkape Games have done an amazing job on implementing the much-needed updates without losing any of the original charm. Die-hard fans will welcome all the obvious and subtle changes that have been made and releasing a new version on the Switch, was definitely a great choice to attract a new generation of fans. Some people may find the humour is slightly dated and inappropriate, however I feel Steve Purcell's stellar writing still makes me chuckle after all these years.
