It’s hard to explain these stories without spoiling them, and they’re so bizarre that you just have to experience them for yourself. Were it not for the great art, writing, and puzzle design, the very creative storylines just wouldn’t hold much water, but that isn’t a problem here — Sam & Max Save the World fires on all cylinders very well, with little room left for disappointment.

The remastering of Sam & Max Saves the World is a delightful return to the comedic antics of our crime fighting duo. Some jokes might not land and a lot of puzzles can feel too easy, but the duo's wit has staying power. Add that with some catchy new tracks and a remastering that makes the game more stylish than less, and you have a proper return to form. If you never had a chance to play Sam and Max Save the World, this is the best way to experience one of Telltale's first games.

There's also no denying that the humor is still incredibly effective. Still, playing the game on Switch is likely to leave you longing for a mouse as the experience just isn't great on a controller. Anyone looking for a strong dose of comedy with their adventure is likely to find it here, but it would have been nice to see the remaster do a little more heavy lifting.

Sam & Max Remastered is an exceptional remake of a beloved game from Telltale’s early days. Fans of the original will be really satisfied with what Skunkape Games has done here, as the visual and audio upgrades give a modern feel to the aging game. Though it’s a bit of a letdown that there’s no extra content or additions to the story, Sam & Max Save the World Remastered makes it more than worth returning to a 2000s classic.

Sam & Max Save the World Remastered is the perfect antidote to 2020. With updated visuals, great Switch porting, and terrific writing that still holds up over a decade later, only a few frustrating puzzle solutions stand in the way of practical perfection.

Sam and Max Save the World Remastered is just as chuckle friendly as it was when it originally launched. Though some of the writing feels dated, and it's not as difficult as older adventure titles or as engaging as modern ones.

Sam & Max: Save the World Remastered is a welcome sign of life for a classic adventure IP. It feels like it's the start of an effort to properly revive the series in small steps, and that would be great news on its own. The remaster is handled decently, and it achieves what it sets out to do. It updated everything that it needs to, and it looks decent enough on modern systems it. While certainly small in scale, it shines with some good writing and humorous stories that I still enjoy every time I play through it, and that's the lifeblood of any strong adventure experience.

Sam & Max Save the World is an entertaining point and click adventure. The game is given a new lease of life and a new lick of paint with its spruced up graphics. If you can get past the slightly unruly controls you will find a puzzle game that’s not too hard. There is some repetition in design between the episodes and some overly long dialogue lines from the characters. A new generation of gamers may find some of the humour more groan-worthy than hilarious.

Sam and Max Save the World looks as great as it sounds. With upgraded visuals, fresh jazzy music, remastered audio across the board, this is the best this game series has ever looked.  Bring on Season 2, 3, and beyond!

Skunkape have done a fantastic job of refining everything that needed to be updated but have left the prevailing spirit of Sam & Max Save The World untouched. For fans of the genre or for anyone who enjoys absurd irreverent humour, this is a ‘must play’ title that has the capacity to have you in fits of laughter.

Sam & Max Save the World is notable for starting Telltale's reign over episodic games that lasted for nearly a decade. Upon a revisit, it's easy to understand why. The writing oozes in charm and wit, and solving some of the trickier puzzles requires quite a bit of detective-work. While a few quality-of-life upgrades introduced in later Telltale Games would have been appreciated, the visual enhancements are still welcome. Hopefully, Skunkape Games remasters the other two seasons of Sam & Max, as well, because this is a case that deserves to be revisited for years to come.

Save the World never felt “wrong” or “off-model” or anything, but the remastered elements here feel like missing pieces we never knew about.

I will gladly and freely admit to my bias here, ever since the original Sam & Max Hit the Road made way back when for PC I've been a fan of this silly animal duo...

Sam & Max Save the World Remastered is a great revival for the franchise and Skunkape Games have done an amazing job on implementing the much-needed updates without losing any of the original charm. Die-hard fans will welcome all the obvious and subtle changes that have been made and releasing a new version on the Switch, was definitely a great choice to attract a new generation of fans. Some people may find the humour is slightly dated and inappropriate, however I feel Steve Purcell's stellar writing still makes me chuckle after all these years.

Sam & Max Save The World Remastered’s anarchic adventure is just as fun to play today as it was when it first released, with some revamped visuals and improved controller support making it a joy to play on the Nintendo Switch. Sure, it does have the occasional obtuse puzzle that’ll be tricky to solve and the fact that you can’t skip through dialogue is a bit of a pain, but it doesn’t stop the game from offering a quirky and enjoyable mystery for point-and-click fans to really sink their teeth into. Here’s hoping we’ll also see the sequels hit the Nintendo Switch sometime soon…

Bar a few niggly control issues, this is a great port of the game. Quirky humour, a lovely soundtrack and a story that keeps you engaged. It's a little on the easy side, but with six episodes you do get your money's worth.

This six-episode compilation remains just as entertaining as it ever was, and the new remaster means it feels far more stable than before. It's not the truly jaw-dropping complete makeover some may have been hoping for, but the former Telltale staff behind this remaster have clearly decided that they shouldn't fix what wasn't broken. Except the broken bits. But they've been fixed.
