Scarlet Nexus Reviews
Despite some glaring flaws in its pacing and length, I've come away from Scarlet Nexus enjoying what it had to offer. It delivers on the promise a brain-punk inspired world with an enjoyable narrative and a stylish albeit simple combat system. The result is a title that's greater than the sum of its parts and is worth experiencing if you can look past its problems.
All in all, Scarlet Nexus was quite an enjoyable experience. The game's unique visuals and art design thankfully met my expectations and the fast paced combat was both fun and satisfying. While the overall gameplay is a bit too loose at times and can take some time to get used to, it's still a game I'd easily recommend to RPG fans.
Scarlet Nexus is, overall, a good experience, thanks to some interesting combat design and well thought out characters, although its limited gameplay reach and muddled story mean that it’s hard for me to praise it beyond that.
Scarlet Nexus surprises with its ecstatic, colourful combat and cast of characters. However, experiencing the story is a test of endurance due to its dull presentation.
The game combines a good combat system, an extensive deep storyline, and nice graphics. The interactions between the protagonists and the world look believable, and you can tell that developers have a lot of love for characters and the world of Scarlet Nexus.
Similarly to Code Vein, Scarlet Nexus offers a compelling universe, a smart gameplay and a fascinating art direction, but is limited by asset recycling when it comes to enemies and locations, a confusing plot and little side content. Bandai Namco is off to a good start with new IP, but needs to improve under these production areas.

Scarlet Nexus is slick, stylish, smartly executed, and just all-around cool.
Offering a lengthy adventure that you’ll need to play through twice if you want the full picture, Scarlet Nexus is entertaining enough. Due to numerous issues with its gameplay, however, it’s a game that’s carried by its story. It’s a shame really, because the world created here is genuinely interesting and unique; I’d certainly like to see more Scarlet Nexus games in the future, and will definitely check out the anime when it arrives on Netflix. But there were times throughout my adventure where the combat was irritating rather than fun, and traipsing through an environment just felt like a chore rather than an exciting foray into the unknown.
Maybe the anime will deliver on the story aspect of Scarlet Nexus, because this game fails to immerse gamers into the drama. The gameplay is subpar when compared to recent similar action RPGs on the market, and towards games from four generations ago.
Scarlet Nexus is the first Brain Punk game I’ve played and after how much I enjoyed it I’m eagerly hoping for more. The combat is the real highlight here for me as the sheer number of things you can do to tear up the Others is impressive. The story, while tropey at times, is still enjoyable with plenty of likeable characters, big plot points, and two different sides that make playing through it twice essential. If you’re a fan of anime games or action-RPGs in general I highly recommend Scarlet Nexus be next on your to-play list.
Scarlet Nexus is an absolutely solid action-RPG title. The story might get too complicated for its own good, but the characters keep things interesting. Having to revisit the same environments multiple times can get tedious, but the combat is enjoyable throughout due to the new abilities afforded to you by the constant leveling and party member changes. It is a fun romp overall, with enough of a reason to revisit it after completion. Scarlet Nexus is a game that anime fans will thoroughly enjoy.
Despite my occasional irritation at the characters’ decisions and responses throughout the narrative, I enjoyed Scarlet Nexus. It could have just done with a little more refinement; if you’re going to include “Social Link”-style systems, for heaven’s sake make sure they aren’t disconnecting the player from the bigger story at play!
Review based on a copy of the game purchased by Softpedia.
Scarlet Nexus succeeds largely on the back of its engaging gameplay. Bandai Namco have crafted an excellent combat engine that lets you run wild with power. The characters could have used some sprucing up, and the repetition of the environments is disappointing, but the framework of a future franchise is here.
Scarlet Nexus is a unique experience worthy of all the hype. The universe created by Kenji Anabuki is rich and interesting, the combat manages to be challenging and fun, the characters are captivating and the whole package is worth every minute invested. In a genre seen as repetitive, Scarlet Nexus shows the courage to think outside the box and injects a good dose of freshness.

Scarlet Nexus is possibly one of Bandai Namco's best games. Its deep combat system and a plot that makes you want to know more at every step make the game a highly recommended product for lovers of the ARPG genre.

While its story falls short, Scarlet Nexus is expertly elevated with stunning combat. The consistent evolution, polished control scheme, and powerful feedback make each fight more satisfying than the last. If only the game had managed to incorporate a stronger story, more depth to its character bonds, and more things to do outside of combat, Scarlet Nexus could have been something special. As it stands, it feels like a solid first step for a new IP, and one where a sequel could really steal the show.

It is strangely full, but this fullness is so confusing because everyyhing is thrown at you at beginning. It could have been a great game if its presentation was a little more balanced.
