Valheim is finally hitting its 1.0 version after years of development alongside players, and it marks the start of a whole new era for the game.
But that's Valheim in one sentence: a game that hands you a goal (and a dozen better ones on the way there) and trusts you to pick whichever one you want.
While Valheim hasn't quite solved the problems of Mistlands and Ashlands, the 1.0 release still manages to be the best version of the survival crafting game with an engaging core gameplay loop, dense atmosphere, and a beautiful and unique visual style.
Valheim remains an excellent survival game five years after its original release. Its expansive worlds, exploration, survival, combat and skill progression are as addictive and immersive as ever, now in a polished final form. With full cross-platform co-op, it remains one of the strongest and most rewarding survival experiences available.

Five years after the launch of Early Access, Valheim finally feels complete. The Deep North provides the world with a clear final chapter and offers enough new content to bring back experienced players, while serving as a great entry point for new players. Valheim is probably the most polished survival game I've ever played, with a ridiculously satisfying upgrade loop that kept me hooked.
Boiling down Valheim into a single word isn’t easy, what with its multiple biomes, staggering amount of crafting recipes, deceptively complex and detailed base-building mechanics, heart-pounding combat, and all. But if I had to choose, I’d call it epic. I don’t just mean that to describe the game’s awesomeness, of which it has plenty; I also mean that in its saga-like length and the downright mythical feats players get to achieve on their way from simple survival to the halls of Valhalla itself. This is the quintessential hardcore survival experience—don’t ever let anything convince you otherwise.
