In my eyes, Happy’s Humble Burger Farm is a genius game. A horror game tied to the drudgeries of life isn’t a new concept. Even the idea of avoiding the wrath of cute mascots has been done before. However, Happy’s Humble Burger Farm does it with such dreamlike depth and panache that I can’t help but be impressed. I doubt this will be the last time I dawn the ugly apron and sling fattening food, and I just know there are more pieces of the mystery waiting to be scraped off the grill.

Delivering a delicious protein of a cooking game sandwiched between an engaging story and retro horror presentation, Happy’s Humble Burger Farm succeeds at points. The horror and wider gameplay sully the burger with spoilt toppings, but the core of this sandwich is still worth a try.

Happy's Humble Burger Farm is an indie horror gem with all the unnerving aspects fans love from these projects.

Happy’s Humble Burger Farm is weird, creepy, creative, and strange. It’s a great little horror game for anyone with a thirst for spooks and lore in equal measure, and I hope its small problems get ironed out over time. It’s one of the most interesting games I’ve played recently, and it’s absolutely worth checking out.

Overall, Happy's Humble Burger Farm is successful in creating a dark and mysterious world that begs to be explored. The horror elements play well into the aesthetic, and the jump scares can be quite effective. For players who just love to cook, there is an unlockable Endless Mode after beating the game which allows just that. Any fan of the horror genre will easily get their money's worth with this one.

Happy’s Humble Burger Farm didn’t change my stance on most simulator games – I still find Overcooked to be more work than fun, but the overall weirdness and light horror elements tipped the scales to make the stress worth it.

I honestly can’t decide if Happy’s Humble Burger Farm is a good or bad game. There are parts of it that I thoroughly loved, like the creepy storyline, the gritty, dated aesthetics that really immersed you in the game’s world, and the jump scares that got me every time. But those controls are just atrocious, hindering the game to the point it felt nearly unplayable at times. There are a lot of awesome, interesting, and unique ideas here, but unfortunately the execution just wasn’t there.

Happy's Humble Burger Farm offers us a mix between a management game and a survival game that knows how to play very well with its setting. The best thing about the title is that feeling of learning little by little and his way of making us question everything. The downside is that the big questions are revealed too early, causing the rest of the plot to lose steam.

Happy's Humble Burger Farm is full of untapped potential and although it has some fun elements to it, the lack of polishing and bad development choices ultimately bring it down.

I’m a big fan of Happy’s Humble Burger Farm. Its atmosphere, high-stakes management, and foreboding sense of doom come together in a perfectly palatable throwback that anyone can enjoy. Plus – without giving anything away – there’s plenty of room for a sequel that doesn’t necessarily need to be about a restaurant. If Scythe Dev Team wants to flip the switch on that, I’ll be there.

At the end of my shift, I found myself really enjoying my time at Happy's Humble Burger Farm. It managed to be a genuinely interesting title with surprisingly fun simulation gameplay. The save issue aside, I do feel the game had some genuine pacing issues and was too eager to serve the meal while I was still wolfing down the starters. If you’re a horror fan or fancy something a little different than usual I’d suggest coming on down to the Farm, but if you’re after a pure Simulation maybe skip the fast food this time.

Jumpy, fast, chaotic, and downright creepy; if you want more of the existential dread of managing a fast food restaurant with an extra side of being eaten by horrifying barnyard companions Happy’s Humble Burger Farm delivers.

Happy’s Humble Burger Farm is a simple game with some good initial scares that sadly wear off after a while. When the gameplay works it’s a smooth and enjoyable experience, but the main problem is that I found it to be quite fiddly and inconsistent at times, affecting my overall opinion. The combination of a cooking simulator and a horror game is one I’ve not seen before, resulting in an often frustrating and challenging experience. I thought that the Endless Mode was a good idea, extending the simulation gameplay, but the only problem for some is that they will have to endure through a complete playthrough in order to access it.

Happy's Humble Burger Farm, despite some good ideas and hidden secrets, falls into a repetitive routine. Even an interesting story cannot save the game from bad design decisions and technical issues.

Happy’s Humble Burger Farm is a dark, cooking-themed, psychotic game with a very deep plot and storyline. The game almost tricks you into making you fall prey to the plot but once you break the loop, things get even darker, horrifying and strange. The game is filled with lore, and backstories to make you understand how you ended up here and has a perfect setting and visual filter for it. The game however has a clunky user experience and the controls could’ve been mapped better.

However, I cannot fully recommend the Switch being the platform for you to do so. The somewhat clumsy adaptation of the controls, especially in menus, has the unfortunate effect of saddling some of the game's more fun aspects underneath some extra frustration not present in the PC version of the game. If you absolutely have no other choice, there's still a fun game to be found here, but it is a weaker version than the original.

Happy Humble Burger Farm is GREAT! What starts off as a spooky cooking simulator, turns into one of the more interesting horror adventure games I've ever played. There is just so much backstory, collectibles, and characters. Although there is a mixing of genres, it somehow all works and is a fully enjoyable experience. Grab the game and get lost in the spooky mystery!
