While some truly brilliant player dungeon designs shine through, Meet Your Maker needlessly over-complicates a simple and fun concept to the point of exasperation.

Meet Your Maker is a killer concept, but it feels empty despite building up a miserable world I so desperately want to know more about. For as boundless as the content may be, shallow progression makes it all feel disposable and vapid. It might be great in a year’s time, but right now it’s little more than a cool idea.

Meet Your Maker‘s well-realised and unique concept combines two distinctive gameplay styles together. Building bases and raiding others’ creations is a lot of fun, but I do question the longevity of the game thanks to its lacklustre story and progression system. What we have available right now is indeed interesting, with an addictive gameplay loop that is off to a promising start, but it’s a bit lacking in variety.

Meet Your Maker reminds me a bit of Mario Maker, but much more violent and serious. The player has the opportunity to exercise his creativity and it is fun to go through the levels to complete them. There is nothing wrong with the gameplay, which is responsive and precise. Nevertheless, I still don't know if the game will have the opportunity to shine for several months. While the developers have already planned, and announced, additional content, I have the impression that the content generated by others will not be enough. The experience benefits from being in the PlayStation Plus program since its official release, but will it be enough to make up for the feeling of repetition that sets in within a few hours?

Meet your Maker is a solid new adventure for Behaviour Interactive, boasting a strong community-driven set of systems and mechanics that encourage creativity and ruthlessness in their design. The lack of available options, a poor progression system and grid-locked currencies dull the excitement of raiding somewhat, but the core structure of this outpost should allow it to harvest for some time yet.

Meet Your Maker is a captivating experience that effectively marries the high-octane action of first-person shooters with the creativity and strategy found in world-building games. Despite my initial reservations about my own creative abilities, I found myself thoroughly engrossed in the process of designing elaborate bases and raiding those of others. While the game does have its flaws, such as the lack of a deep storyline, limited upgrades, and the kill-box overuse issue, the overall gameplay is still undeniably enjoyable and offers a unique and challenging experience. Whether you're a seasoned gamer with a fondness for FPS games or someone looking to dip their toes into the world-building genre, Meet Your Maker offers a fresh and exciting gaming experience that keeps me coming back for more.

Meet Your Maker is a good first step for a game that needs some more content and ideas if it's going to keep any momentum.

Meet Your Maker is a singular multiplayer game that mixes dungeon crawler, tower defense and community creation in a very interesting way. The recipe is addictive, and you can come back to it from time to time while pecking.

If you’re the kind of person out there on the internet reading “Dungeon Core” fiction and cursing EA for its mismanagement of the Dungeon Keeper IP, Meet Your Maker is right up your alley. From spike traps to blocks made entirely of corrosive acid, the level of shenanigans you can put other players through is pretty high. There are kinks for the developers to figure out of course, but there’s enough raw potential here to keep even a frustrated player coming back for more. The foundation is important, and Behavior has really nailed that part. I’d love to see the big, creepy science baby like, change form or something though. Like a disgusting, Gigeresque Digimon or something.

Meet Your Maker is a cunning blend of testing your skills and wits against devious deathtraps, and the creative joys of creating your own murderous mazes. The progression systems are a bit slow, the restrictions it puts on your ability to create levels somewhat restrictive, but there's the foundations of a game here that Behaviour Interactive can build upon.

Meet Your Maker is a particularly fun title thanks to the combination of shooting, exploration and construction of the fort. The playful recipe turned out to be fairly varied and never overly monotonous, although the players' choices are still rather limited.

Meet Your Maker presents a fun, new take on level-builders like Mario Maker and classical shooters. Running and gunning is a quick and painful way to die here. Instead players should expect a surprisingly tactical take on post-apocalyptic grave robbery that's more than a little light on content at launch. As a live service, developer Behaviour Interactive (also responsible for Dead by Daylight) promises new content in regular intervals and if they can keep that up, this definitely has the potential for a cult classic.

Meet Your Maker starts with a great concept, but it takes time, patience, and the willingness to fail a lot to really enjoy what the game has to offer. Player made levels range from brilliant to annoying, and unfortunately building is locked behind hours of grinding, which just seems like poor design. Negatives aside, Meet Your Maker does have a pretty compelling loop for both sadists and masochists.

Meet Your Maker is an interesting mix between FPS and tower defense, quite satisfying to play when you have to face outposts full of traps and when creating an impregnable fortress. But if the gameplay can be considered a strength point, the few contents available at launch and the various unpolished aspects limit the potential of Behavior Interactive's new multiplayer experience.

It’s one of those experiences that you can spend half a day within without feeling the time melt away, made even sweeter with the optional co-op. There’s a little bit of something for everyone lured in by the promises of the Chimera – the first-person shooter elements of raiding harmoniously co-exist alongside the more open sandbox Outpost creation features.

Despite the shallow narrative and somewhat redundant progression systems giving rise to doubts about the overall mass-market appeal, there’s no denying that Behaviour Interactive Inc. has absolutely stuck the landing here with Meet Your Maker. The tension fuelled raiding, accessible base building, and a steady stream of new content coming in via the user-generated levels result in a package that’s fiendishly addictive and incredibly difficult to put down. If you aren’t someone who needs a constantly dangling carrot on a stick to chase, and, like myself, still find gameplay to be king, then this is one trip to the wastelands you certainly won’t want to miss.

While these were the minority of outposts, they highlighted just how limited the Custodians are compared to the builders. While players will unlock more resources to get better weapons, utility items, suits, and upgrades for their Custodian, only so much can be done to combat and overcome outposts built in bad faith. There's a fair bit of balancing needed for this game, which will likely happen during the three-month post-launch roadmap, but the potential of Meet Your Maker is clear as day. The versatility of building, the built-in social systems, and the fluid movement mechanics already present is enough to recommend this title, and it's likely that the experience will only improve from here.

If you’ve got a creative streak and a taste for vengeance, Meet Your Maker will have you cackling, plotting and cursing well into the night. You’ll shun daylight, surrounded by an ever-growing field of 3D printed skulls, each representing in in-game kill. And at the end of the day, isn’t that what gaming’s all about?
