Pikmin 1 remains a delightful puzzle adventure that sees Nintendo at its most charming and inventive. Yes, this Switch port is a little bit underwhelming, with just a higher resolution and some new controls to get excited about, but with a core game this good, it's still an experience that comes highly recommended. Over two decades on from its original release, Pikmin's unique brand of magic remains undiminished.

Pikmin 1+2 are still wonderful games, and although it's a fairly pricey collection having the games on the Switch is lovely.

This pack continues to demonstrate why the two original games were so groundbreaking at the time. It stands the test of time, although some playable facets have already been overcome.

Impressive efforts with a few noticeable problems holding them back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth your time and cash.

Pikmin 1+2 is a great opportunity to delve into the franchise' origins, especially if you have already played Pikmin 3 or Pikmin 4, also available on Switch. GameCube classics are still fun, but this re-releases are just basic HD ports.

If anyone comes into these remasters expecting Metroid Prime or Skyward Sword levels of work, be prepared to be disappointed because these releases are more akin to the Super Mario Sunshine reissue included with Super Mario 3D All-Stars. I see the primary audience from Nintendo’s point of view being those who have never played Pikmin who are interested in Pikmin 4, however not having all the options from Pikmin 3 Deluxe (also on Switch) limits the enjoyment for those introduced to the series from that release as the other main Pikmin games were released on systems that don’t have official support anymore and a very small percentage of people actually had a Wii U. Also, the fact that buying the two games separately is $10 more than buying both together is just an odd business strategy. Overall, I would say these games are worth playing, but are unfortunately not definitive versions that wholly replace previous releases or bring changes that future releases would make to the previous titles.

My only real disappointment was that more effort wasn’t put into sprucing up the visuals and tweaking the gameplay to iron out some of the minor frustrations from the original releases. Once you’ve experienced Pikmin 1 + 2, I highly recommend giving Pikmin 3 Deluxe a playthrough, which is also available on the Nintendo Switch. And thankfully, we’re not far off from Pikmin 4, which judging by the demo will exceed all expectations.

Pikmin 1+2 is a pleasant return to the past in 2023 necessary to further extend the lore around one of the most curious and interesting Nintendo franchises of recent years. Strong and powerful from a playful point of view, it is also satisfying from a technical point of view. Must have absolutely.

Pikmin 1+2 are bare bones remasters of the first tow Pikmin games, but they are pretty good new versions in HD. We've loved to see some extras, but they are great games none the less.

Pikmin 1 and 2 on Switch are the barest of bare bones ports. The clarity added by HD resolution and 16:9 support simply isn't worth losing the improved controls of the Wii versions. In addition, these ports lose some of the original's charm and contain strange glitches. While it's great to have these games available on modern consoles, the Wii or GameCube releases are still the way to go if you can.

Pikmin 1 and 2's Switch ports might not be much of an upgrade in a technical sense, but the games themselves have stood the test of time wonderfully well, thanks to their timeless game design, addictive loop, intuitive controls, and healthy dose of charm.

Despite being barebone ports of the originals, Pikmin 1 + 2 are still great on the Nintendo Switch, bringing all-numbered entries of the franchise onto the platform for fans to enjoy.

Pikmin 1+2 is close to being the definitive way to experience these games before playing the second and third sequels. The low-effort porting of these games is a letdown, but the core games are wonderful and are faithfully converted to run on a reliable and widely available console.

How these two games had gracefully aged, it is another proof of Nintendo's genius touch. Simple gameplay from the first game remains charming, it is essential series gameplay, while the second part brings nice enhancements to the formula. Finally you can have full Pikmin Saga on Switch!

The Pikmin series is top notch and these HD ports are a great reminder of that for anyone who has played them before, and a wonderful primer to the series for anyone that hasn't. It's startling how well a lot of the artistic decisions that were made in the GameCube era still translate to now, like a soundtrack that is absolutely bang on, and character designs and animations that are infinitely charming. Whether or not the time limit in Pikmin or, conversely, the unlimited time, gauntlet-like puzzle caves and score chasing from Pikmin 2 is the preferred way to go, they're both excellent titles that play just as well now as they ever did.

undefined. While I'm here, let me give a quick note on Pikmin 2: It's been a long time since I played Pikmin 2 so I didn't want to write a hasty review of it without really putting time into it, but as far as I can tell it also appears to be a straight port of the New Play Control version with the same control scheme on Switch as Pikmin 1. The single immediate change I could see was that the Duracell battery in the game's opening stage has been replaced with a fake generic brand, which probably applies to the other licensed real-world products throughout the game.

The original Pikmin shows beyond any doubt that it's a timeless classic and one that can be easily enjoyed both by long-time fans and new players alike. The experience is pretty much intact and remains perfectly faithful to the original, in a now complete effort that sees all the main games of the Pikmin series available on the Nintendo Switch.
