Lies of P is a surprisingly good game with an interesting world to explore and fun twists on classic soulslike mechanics. Though the interesting world and characters can be held a bit back by poor translation, and the game can feel obscenely punishing at times. I never felt like the game I was playing was bad, and I only quit when I needed a break from the screen. All in all, Lies of P is a must-have for soulsborne fans and something to check out if you’re interested in the unique twist on a classic tale this game has to offer.

The rich setting of a city that has succumbed to its own ambitions is a great highlight in Lies of P, even though its potential is partially undermined by the gray and opaque look that permeates the landscapes. Likewise, the commitment to refined level design loses some of its luster due to the strict linearity of the campaign. The biggest problem lies with the bosses, their fights are always long and disproportionate to all the challenges posed by the region under their control. Therefore, it is difficult to recommend it as a gateway to soulslike, a genre famous for its punishing combat, but enthusiasts will certainly enjoy wandering around Krat in search of secrets and dangers.

This is far from a perfect game, but it hits the mark when it comes to its strong points, and it just happens to have a lot of them. Whether you’re a longtime Souls fan or just curious about the crazy idea of a somber take on Pinocchio’s tale, there’s certainly something for you here.

Lies of P is a Soulslike experience that uses one of the most iconic works of Italian literature as the foundation for its world.

Despite the inevitable comparisons, Round8’s title stands on its own and can fill the void for those always beseeching a new entry of Bloodborne or at least a port to different platforms.

Lies of P might not be Bloodborne 2, but it is an excellent and engaging experience inspired by some of the best games in the industry.

Ultimately, for a first attempt, Lies of P is a solid Soulslike that should keep fans of the genre happy and frustrated for the entire runtime. It’s clear Neowiz and Round8 have an affection for their inspiration even if they don’t quite have the skill to match.

Lies of P is a fantastic Soulslike in its own right. It ventures to do things a bit differently with some of its choice mechanics and presents a surprisingly compelling story which really helps bring everything together. But it’s the combat, flow and performance that really seal this one as a solid entry in a popular, but often overcrowded genre. While not perfect and certainly a challenge that will not be for everyone, Lies of P is one of the best non-From Soulslikes you can pick up and play right now. And probably the closest you’ll get to playing Bloodborne on a format that’s not PlayStation.

Lies of P offers a creepy yet inviting sense of adventure with familiar controls, especially for those who have played any Dark Soul games but accessible enough that newcomers can get in on the fun. The game is a big achievement for the genre with its cast of characters, world-building, and memorable set pieces.

I’m a little surprised to write these words, but I daresay that Lies of P is such a masterfully crafted hardcore gothic action RPG that it could even be said to outdo FromSoftware at its own game.

Lies of P is a beautiful soulslike action RPG, with a rich upgrade system, plenty of customization and a scenario with depth beyond all expectations.

Lies of P is an A-RPG that takes us to the city of Krat with the help of P, a puppet superior to any other, who has to face all kinds of dangers in order to discover what petronecrosis is and why the frenzy of the machines has happened. An entertaining and challenging title with a very well-developed weapon system, although with a rough gameplay at the beginnig. Visually it is a beautiful game with an atmosphere that will not leave you indifferent and a few beautiful musical pieces.

Lies of P blends a dark and gritty reimagining of the classic Pinocchio tale with FromSoftware inspired Action-RPG gameplay. While it stumbles in some smaller ways, the result is one of the most polished and consistently enjoyable dye Souls-Likes I have played. The combat with its many special maneuvers and nuances can be overwhelming to newcomers, but the atmosphere, the variety in building weapons and the unique take on a familiar story more than make up for the shortcomings.

Lies of P does enough to stand out in a sea of soulslike imitators, and its weapon assembly system adds a layer of customization that is a lot of fun to play around with. Its solid presentation, rewarding exploration, and twisted world-building make it an easy game to recommend if you can ignore some caveats tied to its parrying and lack of poise.

Lies of P is a game capable of winning over the biggest fans of masochistic action games, but it will require some patience. Its linear design combined with the relative lack of difficulty, only existing in a few boss fights, highlights the lack of pedigree of this Korean team, but it is a first effort with interesting points. In the second half, Lies of P gives a better air of gracefulness and ingenuity, which makes us excited about the future of this team.

Lies Of P is the best copy of a FromSoftware-branded SoulsLike currently out there. Anyone in dire need of such a new title, after spending hundreds of hours on Elden Ring and consuming all the productions made by Miyazaki, should not ignore it.

Lies of P is a brilliantly enchanting Soulslike for both those new and experienced with the genre - bringing together the gameplay of counterparts and its source material for a unique experience altogether. Albeit with some obtrusive difficulty spikes along the way, an extraordinary combination of its world, combat, and narrative will still make you want to see more when you've overcome its obstacles. For a game based on a story that's been told what feels like an endless number of times, Lies of P feels one of a kind.
