Twenty years after Outcast, the award-winning action-adventure game, broke new ground in the genre of non-linear open-world games, this long-awaited sequel brings Cutter Slade back to the spectacular alien world of Adelpha. Resurrected by the all-powerful Yods, upon his return he finds Talans enslaved, a world stripped of its natural resources, and its own past mixed with invading robotic forces. It's up to you to accept the mission to save the planet again.

Outcast A New Beginning offers sometimes interesting alien settings, the backgrounds of a story that is all in all enjoyable, albeit without peaks of excellence.

Outcast: A New Beginning lives up to the ambition the same developer achieved all those years ago. A captivating story, interesting characters, thoughtful world-building and slick action are only slightly marred by an inconsistent frame-rate, repetitive quests, bugs, and occasional crashes.

Cutter Slade's long-awaited return has flashes of jetpack-fuelled brilliance, but tiresome missions and a story that fails to engage ensure that playing Outcast: A New Beginning quickly develops into something of a chore.

Outcast – A New Beginning has moments where it can be a lot of fun, especially once you get your hands on an upgraded jetpack. Sadly, its archaic mission design and empty open world often means that there isn't really much in there worth flying towards.

Outcast - A New Beginning will certainly please fans of the original, but its lack of anything unique and somewhat outdated gameplay may not impress others.

Outcast – A New Beginning presents an exciting adventure into the planet of Adelpha. While the innovative combat and environmental interactions are fun, the game is too similar to other open-world RPGs to truly stand out. Exploring Adelpha in its entirety is also challenging because several bugs hamper your progress, sometimes even crashing your game. The game may not break the barrier into greatness, but you can still easily have a good time if you look past the flaws.

Perhaps Outcast: A New Beginning was a bit too ambitious for the return of the classic IP, but even with its huge flaws there are still a lot of good things that are worthy of your attention.

A campy open world adventure with old school sensibilities and buckets of charm.

When playing Outcast 2 you can feel that it was a labour of love. While not exceptional, what the game does it does well, and in certain areas it's actually quite outstanding. It's not a game for everyone and the price tag is quite high for an AA production, but if you're a fan of this kind of stuff, you're in for a treat. A cheesy treat that's janky here and there, but a treat nonetheless.

A quarter of a century is a long time to develop a sequel to a cult classic and Outcast - A New Beginning certainly shows this in its outdated approach to mechanics, animation, and technical development. The sequel certainly contains a list of non-negligible shortcomings, however, its magical charm that combines a world similar to the Avatar movies and player freedom best known from the Just Cause series overshines many of them! The undying love of the series' enthusiasts has respawned Cutter Slade for another glide across the stunning world of Adelpha.

With movement and combat upgrades, Outcast – A New Beginning eventually comes close to being a decent open-world shooter, but terrible fetch quests, bland activities, tech issues, and narrative gaffes mean that the colorful world of Adelpha does not bear enough fruit.

Unlike the first Outcast game back in 1999, A New Beginning lacks characters and has not much to offer in terms of new ideas, mostly copying what we've already seen in standard modern open-world games.

Some die-hard fans of the original game may find the new Outcast entry appealing. Yet even they will not be impressed by the so-so story and dull open world. At least, the action is decent.

Outcast: A New Beginning is the epitome of a "perfectly fine" game. It plays well, runs well, looks fine, and is a decent experience that never manages to go beyond that. The mobility options make it a delight to explore the open world, but it lacks the punch needed to keep the momentum going. If you're looking for a solid and by-the-book, open-world game, Outcast does everything it needs to - nothing more, nothing less.

Outcast – A New Beginning is a fun time and something fans of the first game may enjoy. It has some issues, but it's worth experiencing and protecting Adelpha from anyone who wishes to destroy it.

Outcast: A New Beginning is very far from any remnant of innovation and may disappoint those who expect something different from what the market already has in droves. But at the same time, it is honest in its simplest and most straightforward proposal, being able to entertain enthusiasts for a good open-world shootout.

Yes, Outcast - A New Beginning doesn't feel like a modern game and that's actually its primary appeal so if you have fond memories of 15 year old action adventure games then you'll love what's in store for you in this open-ended planet-exploring journey.

Outcast: A New Beginning is a good product that will surely please the veteran fans of the original game. Appeal Studios has crafted a generally good game, though not perfect. The dynamic and fun gameplay is hampered by a shaky technical department and a somewhat predictable and not particularly exciting narrative. Overall, the game honors the legendary original, though it clearly needs ongoing polishing to perfect and improve what can still be enhanced.
