MULLET MADJACK Reviews
Mullet MadJack is a tour de force of sensory overload and pure chaos, wrapped in a tight 2-3 hour package that begs to be played over and over. If the final chapter is any indication on where a possible sequel could go, I am strapped in and ready to count down the seconds as bullets and mullets coalecse into something downright incredible.
I went into this game expecting a frenetic, fun shooter with an old-school anime aesthetic and that's exactly what I got, but I got it in a very polished and well thought-out format.

Mullet MadJack is, without a doubt, the best experience I've had in 2024 up until the moment I'm writing this review. I already knew I could expect good things from the game, since frenetic boomer shooters are a type of game I love passionately, but I didn't expect it to click so well with me. Its criticisms of the system, the retrowave aesthetic with anime influences, and the synthwave soundtrack fit together masterfully, creating an incredible experience that you don't see every day. Now, I want a mullet.

Taking place in a crazy version of a not-so-far flung future, Mullet MadJack is a mad dash towards the finish, drenched in some of the best cyberpunk aesthetics I’ve ever seen in a videogame. Brazilian studio Hammer95’s debut game is an incredibly violent, blood-pumping adventure that keeps on giving, stage after stage of fast action and a level of excitement that’s comparable to the seminal indie classic Hotline Miami.
Mullet Madjack is a breakneck action package that never ceases to impress. Despite being quite challenging, it never stoops to the point of being unfair or frustrating. I would have loved to see more levels, more upgrades and more boss fights, but what’s on offer here is extremely captivating. Plus, the regional pricing is pretty reasonable as well.
The soundtrack and overall effects in Mullet Mad Jack are also a very notable mention. The gunshots and slashing from the swords are very precise and arcade-like, providing nothing but satisfaction when kicking a robot into a fan and watching it disintegrate with a crunch.
Mullet MadJack is one of the coolest games that I’ve played, with the manic fast-paced action and slick visuals ensuring it’s a blast from start to end. It can be guilty of being a little repetitive in places, but the non-stop excitement of the gameplay, the ever-evolving enemy threat, the dastardly hazards you face, and the satisfying sense of progress felt as you progress between floors ensures that the excitement never dies as you look to save the girl. It’s f*****g brilliant.
Mullet Madjack's retro-futuristic aesthetic that mixes anime and action movies together to create an exciting backdrop for a speedrunning boomer shooter that is filled with non-stop action.
Mullet MadJack excites not just as an excellent shooter with its insanely intense and surprisingly vast array of moment-to-moment possibilities, but also as a sign of the maximalist, short-form future.
With frenetic gameplay, retro wave music and a succession of colorful flashing images, Mullet MadJack is a shooter that makes adrenaline flow from the pores. A title that manages to break through, with pure kick, lead and freneticism, placing itself on the podium as one of the best experiences of 2024, demonstrating that it is what it takes to succeed in the genre.

[T]his tribute to 90s shooters and anime culture is a helluva light show. Mullet Madjack comes highly recommended if you're into replayable corridor shooters tailor-made for 2024's sensibilities.
Mullet Madjack is a breath of fresh air that delivers one of the most refreshing shooters I’ve played in the past few years.
Awesome. This is Mullet MadJack in a nutshell. It could have easily been just another first-person shooter with a neat visual gimmick, but its developers went above and beyond with a lot of style and a fantastic gameplay loop, which is equally enjoyable in either Easy or Hard difficulties, for completely different reasons. It doesn’t matter if you just want to feel overpowered against an army of robots, or if you’re looking for a challenge: Mullet MadJack delivers in spades.
Mullet Madjack is something between a clever parody and a loving tribute to the genres it was inspired by, full of both clever critique and engaging writing. Throw a fast-paced, exciting, and super-addictive gameplay loop on top of that, and you have my new favorite title.
Mullet MadJack is an immersive and electrifying gaming experience, providing a unique blend of frenetic action, nostalgic atmosphere and strategic challenge. With stunning art direction that evokes 1990s anime and a phenomenal soundtrack, the game immerses players in a captivating universe from the first moment.

Mullet MadJack will make you miss the culture, aesthetics, and style of the 80s. It will also remind you of the ugly truth we all seem to forget about the 80s and why such works were forged from this era.
