The Rogue Prince of Persia Reviews
The Rogue Prince of Persia is a new atmospheric 2D title centered around the beloved Persian prince, this time heavily inspired by Dead Cells and other roguelite games. Acrobatics and close-quarters combat are enhanced by a fantastic audiovisual presentation that successfully brings ancient Persia to life.

The Rogue Prince of Persia is a bold experiment that blends precision and nostalgia into a formula that gives the old hero a fresh face. It’s not a game that will appeal to everyone, but it certainly deserves respect despite its many flaws in the current state. This is what happens when Ubisoft gives the right people creative freedom - we get the kind of projects that once made us love them.

"A bold leap for the series into the roguelite genre" The Rogue Prince of Persia boldly and innovatively blends the classic parkour gameplay with a roguelite system. Each run offers exciting gameplay thanks to its fluid movement, dynamic combat, and vibrant art style. While some repetition and limitations in the random generation system detract from the experience, the game successfully establishes a new identity for the franchise.

The Rogue Prince of Persia successfully revives the franchise with a fast-paced, colorful, and engaging roguelite. Its fragmented narrative, fluid combat, and medallion system make each playthrough captivating and rewarding. Despite some repetitive enemy designs and demanding difficulty, Evil Empire's game shines with its memorable bosses and strong identity. More than just a spin-off, it's a beautiful testament to Prince of Persia's ability to reinvent itself.

Despite the technical hiccups, The Rogue Prince of Persia on PS5 is an absolute blast. It’s the kind of game that keeps you up late telling yourself “just one more run.” Evil Empire has managed to respect the legacy of Prince of Persia while injecting it with the adrenaline of modern roguelites. The wall running, the combat, the branching progression, it all clicks together in a way that feels fresh yet faithful.
We had an enjoyable experience with The Rogue: Prince of Persia, which delivers fast and fluid parkour, captivating music, and a striking artistic direction. However, the story feels shallow and the content relatively limited, making it a better fit for fans of roguelikes and lighter experiences.

In its complete release, The Rogue Prince of Persia didn't manage to break free from the main issue it had in its early access: the little variety and repetitiveness. However, even so, this is a fluid action game, which is extremely satisfying to explore and an easy recommendation for this reason.

Paying homage to a historic franchise and bringing an aesthetic faithful to the game's name, The Rogue Prince of Persia may not stand out as much compared to Evil Empire's predecessor, but it is still a highly entertaining title with a Persian touch that makes the game even more unique, in its own way.

Finally coming out of early access after a year, The Rogue Prince of Persia arrives just in time to show off its vastly improved visuals, catchy music, and fluid gameplay. Oozing with style, this is a roguelite that has improved in almost all of its aspects.
The Rogue Prince of Persia has exciting movement, tight fighting, and runs that you can play again and again. It respects your time while daring you to take risks. Even though there isn’t much of a story and the unlockables could be more fun, the joy of chaining wall runs into perfect strikes makes up for this.
Even if its emphasis on a boring story didn’t catch my attention, it’s hard not to fall for everything else The Rogue Prince of Persia had to offer. It’s a well-polished roguelike, developed by some of the most talented developers in the genre, featuring impeccable mobility, decent combat, and a pretty cool gameplay loop.
Similar to the Metroidvania spin-off "The Lost Crown," "The Rogue Prince of Persia" is far more than just a nice consolation prize to bridge the wait for a "real" sequel to the "Prince of Persia" series. If you like the genre, you can confidently buy it!

The Rogue Prince of Persia plays brilliantly and as it approaches 1.0, it already plays and feels like one of the best roguelikes around.
As we enter the busiest season of the year when it comes to big new game releases, it’s very easy to miss mid-sized experiments like The Rogue Prince of Persia, but the good news is that Evil Empire’s brave little spinoff has enough moves of its own to wow and can be fully absorbed in under 10 hours. While it won’t become a roguelite obsession of mine, it’s hard not to consider such a laser-focused effort a winner.
Currently, while I like many things, I also do not think there is enough interesting content for the price being asked. Moving around the game is a lot of fun and I could increase the difficulty by adding additional challenges too. I am optimistic that the game will be excellent as updates continue to launch, however, I would suggest waiting for future updates before diving in.
The Rogue Prince of Persia brings back Ubisoft's now famous saga in a totally new key. Taking a cue from the plot of the very first chapters, which is why the protagonist's skin is purple, we immerse ourselves in the Prince's adventures as he attempts to foil the invasion of Persia by the Huns all with roguelike mechanics. Through an exceptional movement system, but at the same time very user friendly we will go to the exploration of various levels accompanied by amazing soundtracks to fulfill an immersive gaming experience but not going to be too heavy. Evil Empire takes us into this new experience by taking a lot of cues from Dead Cells, however being only an early access we are confident that huge improvements will come that will lead the game to break away from its cue and bring a new gaming experience never seen before!

The Rogue Prince of Persia Early Access build already has the foundations for another incredible PoP adventure, now it's up to Evil Empire and Ubisoft to expand on the game with some great new content drops.
Check it out if you’re looking to scratch that Dead Cells itch right now, or give it a few months and see where things land by then, either way I think you’ll enjoy what The Rogue Prince of Persia is shaping up to be.
“The Rogue Prince of Persia” already shows an impressive foundation with a good variety of moves, cool enemies and a fantastic progression that kept me wanting for more. “Evil Empire” has a gem on its hands, and I can’t wait to see it even more polished.
