Voidwrought Reviews
Despite taking more than a small share of inspiration from Hollow Knight, and being a fairly by-the-book adventure, Voidwrought is a competent metroidvania with a fluid, dynamic gameplay and an excellent soundtrack. Definitely worth considering if you like the genre… and also if you need something to make the wait for Silksong slightly more bearable.

Voidwrought is fast, fun, and fluid. Despite some late-game balancing issues, it still makes for an entertaining Metroidvania experience. The soundtrack alone is worth the price of admission.
Voidwrought is a simple but fun Metroidvania with rich and amazing lore. Even though the game lacks a certain thread of story to follow and becomes unbalanced halfway through the game, its magical soundtracks and strangely beautiful art style are effective enough to give it a try.
It’s definitely not wrong to make a Metrovania with a higher focus on exploration and platforming, but Voidwrought hurts itself by having very simple levels and barely any platforming challenges. This lack of commitment to a premise makes the game feel safe and mostly forgettable, as it doesn’t bring anything new to the overcrowded Metrovania genre.
Combining Egyptian themes with a dash of sci-fi flair, Voidwrought is very pretty for a Metroidvania. Its story is light, and there is minor backtracking here and there, but its eye-catching visuals and satisfying gameplay make it a great pick.
Voidwrought is a competent metroidvania with great mechanics, impactful visual and exceptional artstyle. However, the game sticks too close to its inspirations, especially Hollow Knight, and ends up easier overall, in both exploration and combat.

If you have enjoyed such games as Hollow Knight and Blasphemous in the past or haven't ever tried them, I think Voidwrought is worth your time. The luscious, eerie world is brimming with depth for $19.99. Players of the genre will find this one to be a great addition to their collection. Voidwrought is a must-play if you love atmospheric platforming, ancient souls-like mystery solving, and intense boss fights.
I would absolutely recommend checking out Voidwrought when you get a chance. It’s a fantastic Metroidvania with some inventive abilities, and doesn’t overstay it’s welcome at a fairly tight 10 hours or so depending on how thorough you are with finding everything. I was really happy with the game overall, and if you have any affinity for these types of games, then I think you will be too.
Voidwrought was an excellent experience that felt like I got a good dose of something to keep me coming back for more. My only gripe with the game is that I wish it was longer or had more bosses. It was honestly a great distraction from the pain of waiting for Silksong. So, if you like game designs close to Darkest Dungeon, but want it in a Metroidvania build, Voidwrought is the game for you. I award Voidwrought the Thumb Culture Gold Award
On paper, Voidwrought is a solid metroidvania with smooth, enjoyable movement, especially for fans of the genre. However, it ultimately delivers a standard experience without much to set it apart.

A Metroidvania with personality that deserves the attention of genre fans, the game has everything a Metroidvania should, while also adding its unique dark theme and an interesting level of difficulty for those who enjoy a challenge

Voidwrought has solid gameplay mechanics and combat feels satisfying. However, the items and collectibles are overused and it is not made clear what objects actually do, and how they will affect gameplay. It generally has the protagonist adventuring alone, but when he does meet an NPC,the dialogue is so abstract that you my as well need a translation guide just for this game.
Voidwrought offers a compelling experience for fans of the genre. And is one of those games where the first hour is rough but it then blossoms into a satisfying worthwhile experience.
Voidwrought is an immersive and well-produced metroidvania experience. The world is visually striking, with detailed areas and an intriguing dark atmosphere, despite its obtuse narrative. Exploration shines with non-linear progression, good diversity of situations and interesting navigation abilities. Combat, while satisfying and varied, is lacking in balance, becoming easier as you progress. Even with its lack of innovation in some aspects, Voidwrought delivers an engaging adventure that captivates with its mysterious universe.
