This might not crack the top of my SaGa list, but it’s still a worthy entry in my favorite cult RPG series. Frankly though, I’m glad I waited for the remaster to try it.

25 years have passed since the release of this JRPG by Square, which proves, however, that it still has something to give thanks to an intriguing combat system, a 'dual-track' story, and restorations and enhancements that include new game modes, novel narrative elements, and streamlined gameplay that is very enjoyable to play.

SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered is an unusual JRPG that has to inspire you to want to find out everything for yourself in order to really shine, because systems are not explained and without a guide you will definitely always miss something. However, the interesting battle system and the beautifully paced story are definitely worth experiencing for genre fans

In the end, for JRPG enthusiasts and anybody who enjoys complex narratives, tough fighting, and nonlinear exploration, SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered is a must-play. The learning curve is high, and disappointments are unavoidable, but for those who appreciate its unusual design, this remaster provides a chance to explore one of Square's artistically ambitious works.
