Is Tormented Souls 2 the perfect game? Absolutely not. The beginning months of its release were a little rocky, technologically speaking, in terms of game-halting bugs and occasional awkward camera transitions, etc. Does that make it terrible? Not in the slightest. TS2 was a great horror experience that I got willingly sunk and immersed into for sometimes hours at a time.
Dual Effect has delivered a title that doesn’t try to please everyone, but instead confidently says, “This is for you - veterans who survived the PlayStation 1 era.” Tormented Souls 2 is not just a tribute to its inspirations; it’s proof that small developers can create experiences that stand shoulder to shoulder with the genre’s undisputed giants.

With some isolated flaws but a solid and coherent proposal, Tormented Souls 2 establishes itself as one of the most interesting experiences in recent horror. It’s a game that doesn’t seek to comfort the player, and precisely for that reason, it lingers in the memory long after the last dark corridor.

Tormented Souls 2 delivers an exciting classic-horror experience with improved visuals and chilling atmospheres supported by strong audio-visual effects. Its gameplay relies on exploration and puzzle-solving. Despite some drawbacks—such as slow movement and weak facial expressions—it remains an excellent choice for fans of traditional horror games.

Tormented Souls 2 boldly embraces the old-school survival-horror formula: fixed cameras, scarce ammo, difficult enemies and a heavy focus on clever puzzles. Its spooky atmosphere, varied locations and solid horror mechanics make it a win for fans of the genre, even if the tank controls and frequent back-tracking won’t be for everybody.

Tormented Souls 2 pays wonderful homage to classic survival horror while improving upon its predecessor in several key ways.
Some weaker combat and a few UI problems aside, Tormented Souls 2 is a good love letter to the survival horror genre, with good exploration and puzzles to keep us wanting to see more.
Tormented Souls II brings a handful of meaningful additions that significantly improve the series’ gameplay, but its lack of innovation and reliance on nostalgia strip away the surprise and charm it might have had five years ago.

Tormented Souls 2 is more of the same, but that's not a bad thing. Even though the encounter design can become frustrating at times, the game is packed with content, varied puzzles and a haunting atmosphere. It's a good time to be a survival horror fan.
Tormented Souls II doesn't just walk in the footsteps of its predecessor; it improves upon them. With greater location variety and clever puzzles, it's a triumphant return that shows classic survival-horror is still fiercely desired.

I'm happy to see that Tormented Souls 2 managed to deliver everything that fans of the genre wanted, and I hope it becomes a long-running franchise.

Taking everything that made the first one enjoyable but clanky, Tormented Souls 2 is a refinement in every sense. A more cohesive narrative (when it gets rolling), better combat and a much nicer presentation, it's a great continuation for the retro-inspired series. A bit obtuse in places, it nonetheless will scratch that itch for the older Resident Evil and Silent Hill fans.
Tormented Souls 2 confirms itself as a labour of love for classic survival horror games, but unfortunately fails to iron out the issues that already plagued its predecessor. While the art direction is top-notch, the experience falls flat under the weight of an outdated combat system. Added to this are a basic narrative and a shallow protagonist, which fail to support the exploration. The result is a title recommended exclusively for purists of the genre, even if it represents a missed opportunity to evolve the formula.

Tormented Souls II not only keeps the spirit of survival horror alive, but also demonstrates that Dual Effect understands very well what makes the genre work: tension, fragility, and respect for the player.

"Tormented Souls 2" is old-school survival horror at its finest, with all its quirks and flaws.

Tormented Souls 2 does a great job at setting itself apart from the first entry in the series by refining much of what made the first game difficult and frustrating. Tormented Souls 2 improves on the combat in almost every single way by offering a wider variety of weapons, much larger environments to explore, great animations, and an increased fear factor.
Creepy, challenging, and atmospheric, Tormented Souls 2 nails survival horror’s essence, though its reliance on old tricks makes it feel familiar at times.
Tormented Souls 2 is a faithful 90s horror throwback with excellent atmosphere, level design, and puzzles, but its promise is undermined by a clunky combat system, thin character development, and a muddled, poorly paced story.
Tormented Souls 2 builds upon the foundation of its predecessor with smoother controls, improved pacing, and an atmosphere that successfully captures the essence of classic survival horror. Despite predictable environments and some rough edges in puzzles and combat, it’s a confident follow-up that proves the series can stand on its own moving forward.
