LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is both a very good LEGO Batman game and a very good overall Batman game. The focus on a small set of characters makes everyone feel like they're more than just a skin swap. The use of an open world is well done, since it actually feels like a living place. The combat is more fluid but feels natural, while the kid-friendly humor is retained to keep the game feeling light-hearted, even during the more serious scenes. This is a game meant for every kind of Batman fan, and it is a title well worth playing.

Despite not offering any real challenge, even on the highest difficulty, it's a rich and enjoyable experience that successfully satisfies a wide range of players simultaneously. Consider it a brilliantly interactive Batman experience.

If you've missed LEGO humor and love Batman, this is a game you'll enjoy. However, remember that this series is ultimately "aimed at children," so adjust your expectations accordingly.

The best Lego Batman game—with great humor, an atmospheric open world, and an incredible amount of fan service. At times, it's very reminiscent of Batman: Arkham—too bad the combat isn't as good.

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is proof that TT Games is ready to evolve as they made the bold move to ditch tired, old mechanics in favor of a mature, story-driven, and genuinely fun experience; and even though the game's "Lego nature" slightly limits how deep the combat and storytelling can go, it still manages to impress, proving just how much untapped potential this franchise has.

This isn't just another LEGO game thrown out for a quick buck. It's an ambitious, mature, and incredibly atmospheric project that brilliantly combines Gotham's dark cinematic history with the playfulness, insight, and typical humor of the Danish construction set.

In a way, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is easy to evaluate: if you're willing to be captivated by either LEGO or Batman, or even if you just want to enjoy the simple fun of playing together with a dear one, there are plenty of reasons to join in the romp of defending Gotham on the Bat's long life journey. On the other hand, those expecting in-depth character and gameplay development should look elsewhere.

It took LEGO bricks to bring the Dark Knight back to his level as a video game protagonist. Dear Batman, we missed you!

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a charming tribute to the DC icon that isn't afraid to take things with a sense of humor, inviting us on a journey through a less "dark" version of Gotham-but one that's just as memorable

A fun LEGO twist on the iconic caped crusader’s tale, this game mixes solid combat with Gotham’s charms. Great for Batman fans seeking a lighthearted adventure. Legacy of the Dark Knight is TT Games’ most ambitious and most successful LEGO game in years — a genuine Batman experience wrapped in the LEGO brand’s best qualities, with a campaign that earns its runtime and a Gotham worth spending time in. Its weaknesses — the thin roster, the post-game content drop-off, the performance wrinkles — are real, but they don’t diminish what the game does right. Which is quite a lot.

Legacy of the Dark Knight doesn’t just feel like another Lego Batman game. It feels like the future of the Lego franchise, and it’s one I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end.

Who could have thought that, after the surefire disaster that was the Suicide Squad game, the salvation to the cherished Batman Arkham gameplay loop would arrive in the form of a Lego game? Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight isn’t just “a good Lego game”, or “a fun diversion if you like Batman”. It’s an impressive new direction for the TT Games Lego formula, focusing on quality over quantity, deeper gameplay over mindless collectability, and an even deeper level of polish and writing.

Only seven playable characters, a lack of mini kits and skins posing as rewards instead of real gameplay advantages? Compared to earlier Lego outings from TT Games this feels like a downgrade to me. On top of that the activities tend to be to samey while also happening always in the same setting as opposed world hopping former Lego adventures. Still: Lego Batman - Legacy of the Dark Knight has ignited my collectathon fever once more, the animations are endearing and the dark atmosphere in Gotham City's eternal nighttime is crafted so well it is striking.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is far from a simple LEGO game — it's the best Batman title since the Arkham trilogy.

In many ways, a huge step forward across the board. It is not without a few stumbles, but the lingering repetitiveness is still masked well. The result is an entertaining game full of wild humor, likable characters, an excellent combat system, and vehicle handling that brings back memories of the beloved Arkham series. For DC fans, this is a must-play.

TT Games has dismantled decades of Batman and reassembled them into something fresh, built on the best combat system ever seen in a LEGO game. It's not Arkham, but it's the closest thing available today — wrapped in the humor and content generosity only the LEGO brand can deliver. For Dark Knight fans, it's unmissable.

I don’t know if we’re likely to see another Arkham game any time soon, but as long as we get something as inventive and as fun as LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, I’m perfectly prepared to wait a lot longer.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a great love letter to the Caped Crusader. Certainly, the story adapts the movies at the expense of the comic source material, the gameplay is a near replica of the Arkham games, and there are numerous technical issues and limited content. However, the story's overall charm, the fun gameplay, and the numerous costumes and Batmobiles to chew into mean that this is a must-play for hardcore Batman fans and younger audiences alike.

For the most part, it delivered on what it promised: a Batman game that takes the character seriously without losing the humor, with an open world worth actually spending time in. There are a few areas where it falls short, but more often than not, it exceeds expectations.
