Pragmata is a lot of fun to play, and the more I play it, the more it drags me in. It’s a game that’s hard to put down thanks to the big boss fights and the sombre, bass-heavy music that sets the perfect tone for a lunar adventure. While the combat takes some getting used to and can be a challenge, the verticality and exploration pay off if you take the time to scope everything out. It’s a high-quality sci-fi trip that shows exactly what the Switch 2 can do when it’s firing on all cylinders.

Pragmata was well worth the long wait. It delivers a fun and unique hybrid gameplay experience, which ties into the emotional journey between Hugh and Diana, their growing familial connection, and their reliance upon one another. The way the multitasking gameplay mechanics tie into their bond works brilliantly. While this is a rather focused and linear experience in some ways, there remains plenty of detail to explore for those willing to dive in.

Playing Pragmata was one of the best video game experiences I've had in recent times. The story is engaging, the gameplay is fun, the scenarios are varied, the visuals – relying on the power of the RE Engine – are gorgeous, the soundtrack and sound effects are really cool, and there's plenty to discover and unlock. If that technical excellence wasn't enough, we're treated to super charismatic characters who interact and behave in a very believable way. It's fair to say that the dynamic between Hugh and Diana is the icing on the cake.

In the end, everything comes together to make Pragmata feel like something special. The gameplay brings a fresh twist with its dual protagonist system, steadily building on its ideas throughout. It’s supported by strong level design and engaging encounters, all wrapped around a story that may be simple but still lands thanks to the bond between its two leads. For the third time this year, Capcom has delivered another standout experience.

"An Exceptional Science Fiction Experience" Following years of uncertainty and delays, Capcom has proven that Pragmata is not merely a dazzling technical showcase, but a magnificent action-adventure experience that introduces innovative gameplay concepts. It masterfully balances a poignant human narrative with sustained excitement, offering a unique space odyssey that redefines the essence of character cooperation. Without a doubt, it stands as one of the year’s most distinguished achievements.

Capcom made us wait six years. They delayed it repeatedly, and the hype almost cooled down. In the end, they won by using the most standard method possible. It feels like they used a cheat code to win, but it wasn't a cheat. They simply made a game properly. It just so happens that in this era, "doing it right" has become the rarest cheat code of all. The effect was magnificent.

Pragmata arrives on the Nintendo Switch 2 as one of the most welcome surprises of 2026. What seemed destined for genericism reveals itself to be an experience with its own identity, driven by Diana, a character who transforms both the narrative and the gameplay. The port is exemplary, the combat system is genuinely innovative, and the bond between Hugh and Diana is the best thing the game has to offer. The only drawback is the length, which ends the journey before it can reach its full potential.

Is Pragmata worth playing? Absolutely. While its sometimes challenging and unconventional approach to gameplay might seem overwhelming at first, it is precisely this complexity that is its greatest strength. It’s worth giving it a chance, because you’ll quickly find that it offers a wealth of satisfaction and great fun. It’s a game that hardly anyone was expecting, and its development went largely unnoticed in the mainstream—yet, as it turned out, it was the game everyone needed. Pragmata is this year’s dark horse, which will battle other heavyweights for the title of best game of the year. I have not the slightest doubt about that.

Pragmata stands out in today's gaming landscape. Its combat system gives it a unique identity, and the relationship between Hugh and Diana will keep you hooked throughout the adventure. It isn't a game that sets out to be the biggest or most ambitious, but it does offer a solid, entertaining experience with enough personality to carve out a niche for itself in the world of video games.

Pragmata is a rare kind of experience that feels fresh, ambitious, and fully realised from start to finish. As a brand-new IP from Capcom, it takes risks that many modern games avoid, and that boldness truly pays off. It constantly challenged me to think, adapt, and engage with its unique systems in a meaningful way. Others will love it for that same originality, depth, and the way it stands out from the crowd. In a time dominated by sequels and safe bets, this feels like a complete and confident experience that absolutely delivers.

PRAGMATA stands out as a focused, confident experiment in a world full of games that are too big and hard to understand. It doesn't want to be everything; it wants to be one thing, and it succeeds in many ways.

With Pragmata, Capcom has delivered a stunningly original combat system, a gorgeous world that rewards curiosity, and two endearing protagonists you will absolutely root for. It is easily one of the most exciting new action games in recent memory, and whilst it has the occasional misstep with the platforming or the somewhat predictable storytelling, it still stands out as yet another brilliant release for the company.

Pragmata is a pleasant surprise, and with a simple detail it managed to deliver a very satisfying gameplay loop with a high level of polish, not to mention the creative scenarios, the charisma of the protagonists, and the diversity of progression and secondary content.

Pragmata is a masterfully crafted experience that centers its entire rhythm on the captivating duo of Hugh and Diana. While the core plot may be simple, it is elevated into a beautifully atmospheric story through deep characterization and exceptional presentation. The game perfectly balances their unique traits—shooting and hacking—within a framework of exceptional level design and meticulously tight combat encounters.

While this is a far cry from Capcom returning to the past golden age, at the very least I will appreciate whatever droplets of creative risks the sequel-and-remake-focused company will push out. PRAGMATA is a remnant of a bygone third-person shooter-in-the-aughts, made better and engaging in this current generation of gaming due to its creative mix of hacking and shooting while delivering a heartfelt plot between a man and his foster robot daughter. Let's just savour the moment, rare as it is, as we may not see these glimmers shine as bright again from the House of Mega Man.
