Darwin's Paradox! is a lot of fun, the octopus and aliens theme is suitably absurd and comes with plenty of useful abilities that make the experience consistently unique and inventive. It is a short experience, which you should take into consideration, but it's one that's certainly worth playing.

By leaning on its MGS stealth adventure lineage, Konami and developers ZDT Studios has produced a pleasing homage through it courtesy of Darwin's Paradox. The threats and the platforming challenges are numerous, the references are cool and you'll be content to keep on lapping this one up just to see the iron will of Darwin continue onward towards salvation. At times it can be a bit tricky to know exactly what to do, the story is threadbare and it might not be lengthy, but you will surely remember this one when you're done-even if it's just for the Metal Gear Solid references.

Charming and occasionally engaging, Darwin's Paradox! Is an uneven and sometimes irritating stealth platformer with a few too many quirks and inconsistencies to outright recommend.

Darwin's Paradox is an enjoyable puzzle platformer from start to finish. The platforming feels good, while the puzzle aspects aren't overwhelming to the point that it detracts from the journey. The octopus abilities are well implemented and don't feel difficult to use, and the overall journey feels like it moves along at a good clip without meandering for too long. With a gorgeous presentation in place, there's little to gripe about, and fans of puzzle platforming who value experience over challenge will love Darwin's Paradox.

Although the difficulty curve varies greatly, Darwin's Paradox has become one of the platform games I've enjoyed the most in recent years. Since there's no new MGS game on the horizon, I'd suggest giving this "Tactical Octopus Action" a chance.

The store page for Darwin's Paradox calls it "a grand adventure worthy of a true animated movie", and I can't help but find that funny when the game honestly reminds me a lot of the licensed movie tie-ins I grew up playing. I think of the section in The Matrix: Path of Neo where you're in an attack helicopter firing a minigun at other helicopters, and it's half-baked and plays nothing like the rest of the game, but it's part of the movie so it has to be in the game! I think of the robot suit and chase sequences in Darwin's Paradox and feel like they have to be sequences from an animated movie that doesn't actually exist, and that's why they're in the game. It's a shame that this game couldn't be more focused on its puzzle platforming, because these half-baked distractions suck a lot of the fun out of what could've been something really special.

Darwin's Paradox! is a puzle-platformer adventure featuring fantastic animation and undeniable charm. It suffers from somewhat unpolished gameplay mechanics and lackluster puzzles, but even still, the game will manage to bring a smile to your face more than once.

Darwin’s Paradox plunges us into an ocean of fun and original ideas that work seamlessly from start to finish, delivering a memorable adventure that undoubtedly deserves a spot among the best of the year. I’m not going to lie: I’m already eager to see Darwin return in an even wilder journey—if such a thing is even possible.

"Strong Ideas, Hesitant Execution" Darwin’s Paradox! offers a varied and entertaining experience that cleverly and innovatively blends stealth, platforming, and puzzle elements. It rests on a solid foundation of design and mechanics, but occasionally hesitates to push its ideas to their limits, making some moments feel conventional. Despite this, it remains a cohesive and enjoyable experience.

Back in the day, you didn’t need a skill tree or RPG mechanics in your platformers. Darwin’s Paradox! sparked up a lot of nostalgia for PS1 platforming classics like Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey and Heart of Darkness because the focus on the core experience. Darwin’s Paradox! is a cinematic puzzle-platformer that spotlights the unique abilities of an octopus because it’s not trying to incorporate elements from nine different genres. Unfortunately, just like most retro games, the adventure lacked emotional investment, but with plenty of variety, excellent pacing and a whimsical world, Darwin’s Paradox! is an endearing adventure that was full of personality. Back in the day a game like Darwin’s Paradox would’ve become a cult classic and it feels destined to become one today as well.

Darwin's Paradox! isn't exactly the game I thought it would be, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Based on references to other games and the project's comedic tone, I expected a title that would make fun of an octopus's unusual movements, but the approach here is the opposite: a fast-paced, simple game with diverse scenarios.

Darwin’s Paradox is one of those games that slips in quietly, almost shyly, and then wraps itself around your heart (and your controller) with disarming ease. It’s short, yes, but packed with ideas, striking visuals, and moments that feel lifted from a top‑tier animated film. And it pulls off something rare: it makes you care about an octopus so much that you start questioning every past encounter with seafood salads and crispy nigiri. With its slapstick humor, unpredictable pacing, and a protagonist who says more with a twitch of a tentacle than many characters do with full monologues, ZDT Studio’s platformer earns its place among those small gems you shouldn’t overlook. If this is only the beginning, then someone really should leave that door slightly open — because after such a brilliant adventure, a sequel wouldn’t just be welcome, it would feel almost necessary. Even if aliens do NOT exist…

A unique and unconventional experience we had with Darwin’s Paradox, which offered us fun and engaging adventure and stealth elements in a beautiful and mysterious world. The game features diverse ideas and a design that avoids repetition, and despite some minor issues, it remains an enjoyable experience that we recommend to anyone looking for a light yet meaningful adventure.

Full of charm and humour, Darwin’s Paradox plays out somewhat like an interactive Pixar film. It certainly looks the part, thanks to some gorgeous artwork and animation that adds a layer of polish and charm to the game that just about camouflages some of the its weaker design elements. Fans of the genre will want to get ‘kraken’ with this one.

Darwin’s Paradox is a charming 2.5D action-platformer capable of offering pleasing visuals, brilliant level design, and varied gameplay. Darwin’s adventure is entertaining and driven by clever mechanics and humor, even if occasional frustration arises from trial-and-error sections and imprecise underwater controls. Despite this, it remains a solid and entertaining platformer well worth playing.

Ironically, despite its obvious potential, Darwin's Paradox is the virtual opposite of an entertaining puzzle platformer.
