Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Reviews
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a top-notch fighting game. Easy to learn, complex to master, and gorgeous in action, it's pretty much everything I could have expected from a combination of Marvel and ArcSys. A surprisingly robust single-player campaign and comprehensive tutorials also help it shine, even if you're not interested in multiplayer. The game's notable online crossplay issues are the biggest thing holding it back, but patches have already started to address some of those problems. If you're a fighting game fan, Tokon is well worth checking out. For newcomers, it could be one of the best introductions to fighting games available.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls manages to bring its own identity to a classic genre. Interesting mechanics, well-developed characters, and excellent graphics. However, problems with the online modes, few interesting offline modes, and a relatively small cast prevent the title from shining as it should.

Marvel T& 333;kon: Fighting Souls delivers excellent, highly addictive fighting mechanics that make it one of the year's strongest fighters. Its four-character tag system feels fresh, the roster is varied, and the game offers a solid selection of single-player and multiplayer modes. However, the story campaign becomes repetitive very quickly, while the PC version's technical problems negatively affect the crossplay experience even on PS5. Despite these flaws, the outstanding gameplay makes Marvel T& 333;kon a very easy game to recommend to fighting game fans.

Marvel Tōkon gave me the thrill I would expect from a Marvel vs. Capcom title instead, which pleasantly surprised me. It sets a new standard for tag fighters and raises the bar for the genre.

Accessible to players of all skill levels but offering a high ceiling for pros, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is one of the best fighting games currently available. From its great selection of modes to its stunning presentation, this is a must-have for Marvel fans and fighting game enthusiasts alike.
Arc System Works has struck a good balance between accessibility, spectacular visuals, and challenging gameplay. The 4 vs. 4 battles sounded risky, but they're handled without much difficulty. Visually, it's a real eye-catcher, with some more or less successful "Japanese-style" redesigns.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is another masterpiece from Arc System Works. The Japanese developers, who specialize in fighting games, have created a title brimming with love for the Marvel universe, featuring meticulous attention to detail in the design of each hero and an incredibly layered combat system that adapts to any type of player-from beginners to experts, as well as those who prefer to fight with a single character or manage an entire team.

MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls is an incredibly enjoyable fighter that's impressively accessible and has a ton of potential to be expanded upon down the road. If you enjoy colourful fighting games with diverse casts then you need to play this one, chums. 🦸♀️
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a competent fighting game, and given Arc System Works’ pedigree, I would expect nothing less. The flashy and over-the-top moveset genuinely makes you feel like you are a superhero smashing up the city in a life-and-death fight for justice. The combat system is robust with plenty of variety once you start exploring off the game’s standard combo paths, but given the structure, this might not be the most friendly fighting game to cut your teeth on.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is exactly the kind of collaboration that could easily have been visually spectacular without necessarily offering enough depth behind it. Fortunately, Arc System Works manages to pull off both almost perfectly. The universe works surprisingly well with the studio’s signature style, and the combat is accessible, fast-paced, and extremely deep. That said, newcomers will need to be patient to fully master all the game’s nuances, especially if they want to play online. Personally, I also would have liked the various story episodes to offer more distinct adventures. However, the game has the foundation to improve over time and pays perfect homage to the Marvel franchises.

A successful and entertaining new fighting game that serves as the spiritual successor to Marvel vs. Capcom. Thanks to its easy to learn hard to master gameplay, it’s perfect for fighting game enthusiasts of all kinds.

We tested the game on the standard PlayStation 5 and found that Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls offers a generally smooth and stable experience at 60 frames per second, both offline and online. The visual presentation is excellent and does not require the usual choice between Quality and Performance modes, an understandable decision for a fighting game where consistent frame rates are essential. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is not the new Marvel vs. Capcom, and it probably does not even aim to be. Arc System Works’ game takes that tradition as a starting point, but develops its own formula based on a progressive 4-versus-4 structure, a shared health bar, and an extremely important assist system. The result is a spectacular, accessible, and surprisingly deep fighting game. Newcomers can start with simplified controls and auto-combos, while more experienced players will find plenty of depth in team building, synergies, and managing the pace of the fight. The main reservations concern the readability of the action, some potential roster imbalances, and a single-player mode that, while polished, does not reach the same level as the online experience. In conclusion, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a title that is hard for Marvel fans and anyone who enjoys anime-inspired fighting games to ignore. It is a production that respects its source material, is technically impressive, and manages to offer a formula that is simple enough to understand, yet complex enough to support an entire competitive scene for a long time.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls achieves a true miracle: breaking free from the cumbersome shadow of Marvel vs. Capcom to find its own brilliant and distinctive identity.

While this isn’t quite the genre defining hit like Street Fighter or even a top-level Mortal Kombat, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls delivers a strong side-scrolling fighter game with a cool 4vs4 gimmick that means the action on-screen is chaotic, brutal and brilliant fun to play.
Even with a few weak spots, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, in many ways, is the redemption Marvel fighting games have needed for almost a decade. It’s not exactly Marvel vs. Capcom, but it’s not trying to be.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls works for both newcomers and competitive players, thanks to a team system that evolves throughout each fight. Its modes offer plenty of content, the campaign does its job and every character bursts with personality on screen.
