Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! Reviews
Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is a good shooter that stands on its own and is a celebration of the franchise. It has a mix of crazy human missions, fun bug-power fantasies, FMV propaganda, and interesting combat loops that make it a fun game for both retro shooter and Starship Troopers fans. The game is easy to play on a lot of different platforms, and it runs well on PCs and consoles, so almost anyone can jump right into the action.
Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is a fun and straightforward shooter that captures the spirit of the franchise without any fuss. Ideal for Starship Troopers fans or players looking for fast-paced, entertaining action. Its limited length and repetitive objectives prevent it from reaching greater heights, but it's still quite enjoyable. Overall, a solid game that delivers on its promises and can be enjoyed in short but intense sessions.

Auroch Digital and Dotemu want us to feel like we're in the 1997 movie, playing as a marine under attack by creatures of all shapes and colors. With a very well-executed retro aesthetic...

Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is much more than a competent adaptation. It works as a retro shooter, as a love letter to FPS games of another era, and as an unexpectedly sharp satire on propaganda, militarism, and how video games can also serve as a vehicle for power speeches.

Starship Troopers Ultimate Bug War is a blast to play and exactly what I expect out of a boomer shooter. Be fun, go hard, and don't overstay your welcome.
An incredible boomer shooter, just like its source film, the developer managed to capture the universe and create an original story that can be enjoyed and played for hours, offering good value for money, and a Portuguese translation.

Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! bets big and differently on production and wins. The concepts and framing are what make it unique and enhance the game as a total package. The game itself is very fun and solid, but doesn’t advance the genre in terms of gameplay or mechanics, it’s just other stuff done very well. I’d stay here and talk with y’all more, but I can hear Federation police at my door for not giving this simulation a shining, perfect endorsement so that’s all from me. Go do your part!
If you get a kick out of Starship Troopers’ brand of satire and enjoy a good old-fashioned throwback shooter, Ultimate Bug War! will be a comfort food kind of game for you. It’s simple fun, uncomplicated in exactly the way a shooter of this ilk should be, has a noticeable appreciation for its source material, and doesn’t overstay its welcome besides. Does it bring anything new to the table that might cause someone not fitting this description to go out of their way? Probably not, but in the wide, chaotic world of video games based on movies, this one is worth checking out for prospective citizens.

When it comes to capturing the spirit, energy and satirical tone of the 1997 cult classic Starship Troopers, Auroch Digital has done a flawless job with Ultimate Bug War. If Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War released alongside the movie in 1997, it might be revered today. The commitment to tone was admirable, as the story was uniquely told through the lens of video game military propaganda, the FMV’s were excellent, and there were moments of pure first person shooting bliss. Unfortunately, poor mission structure, unsatisfying weapons and lack of variety relegated Ultimate Bug War to just another average Boomer Shooter, which is disappointing after the studios great work on Boltgun. For most people, there are better options, but if you’re right in the middle of the Venn diagram between boomer shooter and Starship Troopers, then enlist right away because Ultimate Bug War will be your Utopia.
I had noted in my preview that Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! was not going to revolutionize the gaming world and that I was fine with that. Now that I have completed the game, I can safely say that while my opinion hasn’t changed, I do appreciate more of what this game had to offer. The one-liners, the comical levels of violence, and the retro vibes that are creeping back into the gaming industry (which I love). Its only weaknesses lie in the lack of needing some of the extra bells and whistles within the game itself.
While Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! can be uneven in spots throughout its two campaigns, there is no doubt that it wonderfully understands the appeal of the franchise and makes the most of the license.
Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War captures the feel of the sci-fi classic perfectly, and is just good old fashioned FPS fun.
I loved my time with Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War. In fact, this is one of the most commendable licensed games I’ve played in a long time, using videogames as a way to expand the franchise’s lore in a way only this medium is able to. Furthermore, this is an amazing, ultraviolent shooter that won me over with its fast-paced gameplay, extraordinary level design, and its hilarious live action propaganda cutscenes.
Is Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! a stellar shooter? Not really. In fact, it doesn’t even touch the heights of Auroch Digital‘s own Boltgun. But this Starship Troopers tie-in is respectful to the source material, and the giant battles against bugs with retro shooter vibes is both fun and nostalgic. Not a ton of depth or variety to boot, and the lack of any form of multiplayer is a missed opportunity, but this all-out war between humans and bugs can be quite a riot at times.
Are you a fan of Starship Troopers and do you love first-person shooters? Then Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is a no-brainer.

If you fancy a Helldivers 2-like experience but a little more basic and more accurate to the roots of its satire military origins in a particular FPS era where 2D and 3D collide ala Duke Nukem 3D, Powerslave, and Blood, you can't beat this Starship Troopers game.
Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War delivers chaotic bug-splatting action with satisfying old-school FPS gameplay, huge maps, and plenty of fan service for the cult sci-fi franchise.
Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War is easily the closest the franchise has come to translating the chaotic spectacle and biting satire of Starship Troopers into video game form. Rough edges aside, Auroch Digital delivers a retro shooter that understands the assignment: kill bugs, survive the warzone, and chuckle at the military propaganda along the way. Citizenship, at last, might actually be within reach.
