Based on a simple premise, Nitro Gen Omega's combat is genuinely very entertaining and well thought out, and the fun animations are a nice added value. Unfortunately, grindy progession, a barebones open world, unexciting characters, and a perplexing system for switching mechas end up dragging the entire game down.

NITRO GEN OMEGA is a game about you and your Code Lyoko style crew toughing it out at the end of the world. If you enjoy turn-based anime robot action, you might find that fighting for that end is more engaging than it first appears.

Nitro Gen Omega delivers a tactical challenge that captures the pure joy of a Saturday morning cartoon, even if its bland narrative and brutal difficulty prevent it from becoming a true classic.

Nitro Gen Omega was a delightful surprise in 2026, especially since the year’s midpoint hadn’t offered much for fans of this genre to celebrate.

Nitro Gen Omega is a stylish tactical RPG with a beautiful art design, a slick UI and amazing animations. However, I can see some players being turned away by having to learn the many combat systems it throws at you, even if it’s fun once you get used to it. Overall, I still think this game is worth your time.

Nitro Gen Omega doesn’t hide its ambitions: it wants to be a loud, loving tribute to the mecha that raised us, while still standing as a solid tactical game. And despite some repetition and a story that mostly stays in the background, it hits the mark. The loop works, the combat system is deeper than it looks, managing your mech and crew is addictive, and the saturated, angular art style sticks with you long after you turn off the console. It’s not a game chasing spectacle or plot twists—it knows exactly what it wants to be and embraces it with the boldness of a small team with a clear vision. And if you grew up on giant robots, if you still smile when someone shouts the name of an impossible weapon, Nitro Gen Omega will give you exactly what you’re looking for: the feeling of finally starring in your own mecha episode.

NITRO GEN OMEGA is one of the most inventive strategic RPGs to hit the past few years. What appears to be a bright anime mech game at first glance turns out to be a surprisingly complex survival management RPG with profound decisions and interconnected systems.

Nitro Gen Omega is a game of wonderful strategic depth hampered by a lack of polish and a rough early progression slog. When the combat clicks and your heavily customised machine is tearing through enemy ranks alongside a crew you have genuinely bonded with, it is an ABSOLUTE joy to play and shows that the game could really be something special. It is just a massive shame that you have to wade through a ton of grinding and clunky menus to get to the good stuff. If you have the patience to learn its intricacies and don’t mind a bit of repetition, there is a remarkably deep and rewarding experience to be found in Nitro Gen Omega… just expect a few bumps in the road that’ll really test your patience.

NITRO GEN OMEGA is a testament to DESTINYbit’s talent and boldness. The Italian studio sets aside traditional formulas to deliver a “handcrafted,” brutal, and magnetic tactical RPG. Although the narrative never quite takes off and some of the management routines between battles can feel repetitive, the beating heart of the game is a polished gem. It’s a technically sophisticated and deep experience that rewards precise planning and crew synergy, offering one of the most original takes on the mecha genre.

NITRO GEN OMEGA presents a bold and highly original tactical mech concept built around time-based command planning and deep mechanical customization. Its systems offer genuine strategic depth, and the idea of assembling a personalized crew adds initial appeal. However, the execution struggles to consistently support its ambition. A steep and uneven difficulty curve, combined with pacing issues in combat, can make encounters feel unnecessarily drawn out. Technical inconsistencies and presentation shortcomings further limit the overall impact. Despite its strong foundation and creative identity, NITRO GEN OMEGA feels like a game that overreaches its current refinement level. It is an interesting tactical experiment, but not yet a fully cohesive experience.

Overall, NITRO GEN OMEGA is a solid mech tactical RPG. The combat takes a bit to get going, but it is fun and full of hyper-animated moments that look amazing. The team building and social systems are solid, making you care about your motley crew of pilots and their interpersonal relationships. It has some really cool moments that get weighed down by grinding and repetitive battles. It has its moments, and with some rougher patches smoothed out, it has a lot of potential. NITRO GEN OMEGA is a fun adventure for anyone looking for a new, flashy mech RPG.

NITRO GEN OMEGA has established itself as a tactical RPG with a very distinct identity, skillfully blending its original combat system with surprisingly deep crew management. While not always accessible or perfectly paced, when all the pieces fall into place, it delivers an intense and unique experience within the genre. Its arrival on version 1.0 and consoles is a welcome addition, concluding its Early Access cycle with a coherent and ambitious result. It's a title with its own character, one that doesn't try to please everyone, but rather captivates those who can appreciate its particular take on the genre.
