After all the ruckus and the controversies, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 finally reveals itself for what it is: a great Star Wars experience. The new Campaign is definitely well written and thrilling (with some memorable dogfights in the space), and the multiplayer improves everything we already loved in the first Battlefront. There are still some issues with a progression system that relies a little bit too much on randomness, but the game is definitely better off without microtransactions.

Star Wars Battlefront II stumbles out of the gate with its progression system. I hope it gets ironed out because the underlying multiplayer is extremely fun. The campaign is short and sweet, but a little too fan-servic-y for me. As it stands this is a solid sequel with some highly noticeable blemishes. I will continue to play because of my love for Star Wars, but I do hope it gets ironed out before players lose interest.

Battlefront II's campaign is a failed attempt to make an expensive blockbuster that, without a popular license, would look very boring. Online multiplayer in Battlefront II, on the other hand, is significantly better than in original in all respects.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 has the potential to be an amazing game, however, it is unlikely we'll ever get to play the real game as it's hidden beneath microtransactions. In an ideal world, EA would remove the Star Card system completely and replace it with something that doesn't interfere with the gameplay. If you are on the fence, maybe wait a few weeks to see how EA deal with the progression system beforehand. That being said, even with Battlefront 2's flaws I'd still say it's worth playing.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will go down as one of the biggest screw ups in video game history. EA and DICE had the easiest job in the world and completely ruined it with the absolutely ridiculous and downright unacceptable progression system for multiplayer. Combine that with the incredibly boring, lazy, and cliche story campaign and you easily have the biggest disappointment of 2017.

Star Wars Battlefront II draw a line on the past of the licence. Complete overhaul of the space combat system, disappearance of the walker mode, addition of classes, big content at the launch, various objectives, addition of a solo campaign. Everything we could have expected in the first one is finally here. Only the cash shop and the feeling of shooting (little bit spineless) are a problem. Despite that we have in front of us a complete Star Wars game, especially with best SW space combats since X-Wing serie.

Star Wars Battlefront II offers a sizable improvement over the first game in almost every way. The campaign is short but well-paced and enjoyable, and multiplayer provides a robust offering with smooth and frenetic battles.

With Star Wars Battlefront II, DICE and EA have righted most of the wrongs from the first game, and have created one of the best Star Wars games ever.

A great sequel to the 2015 game. Star Wars: Battlefront II feels like a complete product, but the loot box thing, surely is going to cause bad reactions.

Star Wars Battlefront II houses a decent single-player campaign and good multiplayer, but, like the otherwise slick design of its multiplayer maps, that accomplishment is often obscured by distractions.

Underneath the terrible progression system, cheap payouts and more-than-gentle hand in the back towards paying for loot crates is the same excellent core, now across so much more content with the promise of more free maps and heroes to come.

Star Wars Battlefront II features a much greater variety of content than its first release. Both multiplayer and offline content can provide us many hours of entertainment. Technically, the game works very smoothly and fulfills everything we can demand of it. However, some aspects of the game need to be improved and the microtransaction system is confusing and makes difficult the progression.

The Star Wars authenticity can be felt throughout, but blatantly predatory microtransactions are a blight, force choking the life out of what is otherwise one of my favorite games this year.

Star Wars Battlefront II still tips more toward the causal side of multiplayer competition, but that doesn't mean there isn't a fair amount fun to be had. That said, the game's potentially pay-to-win progression model doesn't do it any favors.

Star Wars Battlefront II has solid core gameplay and offers a wide variety of content to enjoy, but at the moment it's hard to look past the loot crate issues in order to appreciate what the game does well.

Uncomfortable microtransactions and questionable changes completely ruin a faithful, fun Star Wars experience.

Battlefront II is actually a rather fitting sequel to its immediate predecessor, which was itself a fun, visually phenomenal but woefully shallow and convoluted experience. Everything that was right with the original game is exactly as it was before. Everything that wasn't, however, has mutated into something more craven and significantly uglier.

In a time where Star Wars games aren't being made by the dozen however, Battlefront II at least still knows how to elicit the nostalgic, warm feelings that I have for this universe despite its many problems.

With Battlefront 2, DICE has done everything to please Star Wars fans short of bending space and time so they can experience the original film's 1977 release as excitable ten-year-olds. There are problems, but the biggest are the fault of EA; a publisher publicly, frantically figuring out how  to run a game as a live service, and which crossed a line now well-defined by its mistakes.
