The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan tells a spooky tale sure to unnerve most players and although it has some issues it does so while offering plenty of unique paths that makes the game perfect for more than one playthrough.

From the creators of Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan is the first game of a series that looks promising. Although a lot of potential has been wasted in this game, the final result is a really fun experience, specially when played with friends. Man of Medan slows down a lot and sometimes this can interrupt gameplay, which is not what we expected from the guys in Supermassive Games. Over all, Man of Medan is a short and really fun experience that's absolutely worth trying.

Man of Medan is a solid horror experience that relies on the strengths of the developers' past success. It's admittedly trashier than its campy predecessor, but the prospect of playing through it with friends feels like the ultimate evening of entertainment. A great mix of creepiness, suspense, and just the right amount of genre silliness.

If you are looking for a different experience, a leisurely game and with some doses of terror we recommend that you take a look at this Man Of Medan because it is a good title, different and fun to play alone or accompanied.

A good but not great beginning for an Anthology series that sets the basics for its horror proposal, but still has to refine its gameplay to be as fun as its story.

Man of Medan keeps afloat thanks to an atmosphere full of charm, sufficiently original multiplayer gameplay, and a valuable sense of investigative discovery that supports the limited exploration.

Although it doesn't quite hit the heights set by its inspirator Until Dawn, Man of Medan is a positive debut for the Dark Pictures Anthology thanks to an excellent narrative

The first game of The Dark Pictures Anthology is a step backward for the genre. The game needs a re-work especially in the structure of QTE and choices, but at this price and with multiplayer modes the overall value is good.

Although there were some cringy-dialogue options and I feel as if I spoiled the entire mystery by asking the curator for advice, I enjoyed my time playing through the story and trying to escape with as many – or as few – survivors as possible.

In a hard way, The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan is a good game with some undeniable issues in pacing the third act of the story and some framerate drops. A B movie-like Videogame, which gave you a good jump scares, simple but lovely characters, and a standard story. But in a simple way, if you enjoyed Until Dawn and want to play a more focused and shorter version of that with some changes, Man of Medan is a 30$ game that you will like it, but probably not more than what you expect.

All in all, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Episode 1 - Man of Medan is a worthy follow-up to Until Dawn. It hits a lot of the same notes, and it's clear the developers understood the group appeal of watching-slash-playing a cheesy horror film with friends. There are still some weak points, but Man of Medan shows a willingness to learn from the previous game's mistakes and leaves us curious to see the next part of the anthology.

Man of Medan is a thrilling introduction to this new anthology and while the buildup is somewhat slow and the ending was an anticlimax, everything in between was a treat and proves yet again that Supermassive has a good grip on the horror genre.

While it lacks the scare factor, the concept of a horror anthology series with co-op multiplayer is pretty unique and executed in a great way. The writing is rather weak for this first entry but the gameplay with its branching narrative offers sufficient replay value.

Man of Medan is basically the same as Until Dawn, just featuring a different coat of paint and a bit shorter and adequately priced. Supermassive Games have delivered exactly what they've promised and from that point of view, it's hard to be disappointed.

The shorter narrative and anthology presentation suits the title better than a standalone full-priced title

I’m super excited to see the continuing tales coming out of The Dark Pictures Anthology. If Until Dawn proved that horror games being made in this cinematic style can work then Man of Medan shows that even at a smaller scale, they can still be a blast to play. Alone, Man of Medan can be a spooky night in the dark full of terror, with friends, a party game where you tease one another and discuss plans.

The Dark Pictures - Man Of Medan takes a while to get going, but eventually the scares start kicking in, and it's a lot of fun screaming alongside your friends. This is a game that's meant to be shared and is a blast to play in groups. A promising start to the horror anthology that will hopefully only get better with subsequent entries.

There are some issues in Man of Medan than could be fixed via updates, but this doesn't change the fact that the characters don't have any charisma. However, the story can get the players involved and make them scared to death.

It's not easy to keep everyone alive in Man of Medan, and you won't necessarily want to, especially in 2-player co-op.
