Disco Elysium Reviews
Disco Elysium is an exceptional case in RPGs! From a very touching personal story and impressive world-building of Revachol city to the impressive narrative role-playing experience with one-of-a-kind RPG systems and incredible and flexible missions and dialogues that can be highly reactive towards the player decisions.

Disconcerting and unpredictable are the best adjectives to describe robert Kurvitz's creation, because when you think that the story has become very long and dark, it takes unexpected turns to keep you hooked and wanting to know the outcome of it, regardless of whether you want to become the best detective or be a deplorable policeman as a human being.

An original approximation of what it would be like to play a tabletop role-playing game on your computer or console, an original plot and the feeling of reading a good book in which you are the protagonist. All that and more is Disco Elysium, a unique game that any fan of the genre should have in their library.

Disco Elysium presents an unforgivable experience that is only occasionally weighed down by pacing issues, but otherwise soars to new heights of interactive storytelling.
Disco Elysium is a very special RPG that most of your time will be spent on reading. It features a well-written detective story, various tricky skill trees, and memorable characters. This game might be the best one of its kind. But if you can't stand reading for a long time, just don't try it.

In my opinion, Disco Elysium is the game of the year for 2019. It shows how you can make creative, engaging, and well-written games entirely using writing and player choice without falling into the simple "visual novel" style. It's biting, clever, and witty, and it deserves to take its place among Planescape and Fallout: New Vegas. It's a must-play for any fans of RPGs and a genuine modern classic that will hopefully set the stage for many things to come.
A truly outstanding piece of art, Disco Elysium is an RPG that warrants playing over and over again.
Overall , while paying respects to gaming’s founding fathers in familiar yet polished gameplay, Disco Elysium paves its own path. While the controls sometimes feel lacking, it is the narrative heart and aesthetics that truly shine to an exemplary level.

Disco Elysium is perhaps one of the best role-playing games of all time, and I don't say that lightly. I haven't played a game that has been able to so masterfully flex to my actions as well as ZA/UM's freshman outing. The writing is sharp, the characters genuine, and the choices possess true stakes.
Finally, a roleplaying game where you play a role instead of “press button, make the number go up.”
Disco Elysium is an unconventional and innovative isometric RPG, offering unusually complex mechanisms and great literary qualities in the vein of Planescape: Torment and Arcanum. It boasts strong atmosphere and attention to details that are sometimes overlooked by the larger videogame developers.

Disco Elysium is an RPG where you play as an amnesiac cop investigating a murder. Thanks to its writing and emphasis on freedom, it's unlike any other RPG out there.
Disco Elysium is a landmark title in gaming that will hopefully set a new standard for quality game design and writing. Everything offered within feels like a work borne from passion and talent, but that latter part’s what has me worried. I would love for Disco Elysium to somehow plant a flag that boldly proclaims, “Here! THIS is what we need to be doing and THIS is how you do it!” Even if a developer understands the “passion” part of the equation and puts in the time and resources, that doesn’t always mean they have a talent for this caliber of game. This review’s already gone on far too long, but I have to convey the affection I have for the central protagonist and his companion — their chemistry. Despite how much of a screw-up he is, I still love him for all his quirks and failings. And I made him that. Perhaps he’s a reflection of myself in some way since I have finally, for the first time ever, been given the true freedom to create the protagonist I want and not some flawless, altruistic knight who’s come to save the day.
If you’re someone who doesn’t “like to read” or wants a lot of action in their games, Disco Elysium might not be the best pick. It does an excellent job of bridging the worlds of literature and gaming, and offers a unique blend on the venerable CRPG formula.
Disco Elysium is gritty and unapologetic, witty and bleak, and forces you to deal with your darkest demons and self-doubt. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Disco Elysium is one of the best games I have ever played and is most definitely my favourite 2019 RPG. If you’re looking for a game that will humour you with an amazing narrative for at least 20 hours, this is the game. For those of you who don’t like reading a lot of text in video games and prefer combat over conversations, I would advise looking elsewhere. Disco Elysium has enough words to fill out at least a few thick books, and it’s worth more than a gloss-over or two.
