The 7th Guest Reviews
A succesful re-imagining of the classic 90s interactive movie, that retains the characters and setting but adds some fun new puzzles and VR wonderment.
The 7th Guest VR is haunted by clumsy motion controls, but satisfying puzzle design keeps this 90s PC remake alive.
If you have fond memories of the original game, this version will bring a smile to your face. If you have never played the 7th Guest before, you are in for a treat, especially if you love mystery/puzzle games with a horrific slant.
Now that's how you do a remake! Virtual reality and a keen awareness of the past and new technologies has awakened Henry Stauf from a slumber that has lasted since 1993, giving a new, topical youthfulness to an unforgettable classic like The 7th Guest. The ideal companion for your Halloween.

Ultimately, The 7th Guest VR is the best sort of surprise. A great mix of entertaining puzzles, compelling exploration and some unexpectedly cutting edge visual design, for this Halloween there's probably no better reason to get out your PS VR2 headset than this.
The 7th Guest VR's intriguing story and great variety of enjoyable conundrums make it a competent VR reimagining of a classic 90s gothic puzzler. With visual, audio and puzzle bugs aplenty, it's a shame Stauf's mansion isn't just riddled with cockroaches.
Though not as groundbreaking as the original, the VR remake of The 7th Guest is still a pretty good time. Delivering a corny/spooky story and a big pile of cleverly designed puzzles, this is a fun VR reinterpretation of the classic, with just enough crossover with the original to elicit pleased gasps from fans. While the VR implementation struggles at times, those issues don't completely hamper the overall sense of fun and mystery.
Excellent presentation, impressive volumetric technology, head-scratchingly fun puzzles, and a tight storyline come together with engaging VR interactivity to resurrect and reimagine a beloved murder mystery. This game is a must-have for anyone who loves a well-crafted puzzle game.
The 7th Guest VR is a homage to a classic game from 1993. Developer Vertigo Games delivers a unique and remade vision of the original title and still includes the ambiance and puzzles that made the first game so memorable. The additional retelling of the narrative and how that narrative is presented in VR format makes this one of the best virtual reality experiences to date.
Overall, 7th Guest VR Feels like the next step with VR. Being able to display some awe-inspiring environmental work and incredible mechanics, it has become my new game to show new to VR folks.
7th Guest VR is a nice surprise, a remake of a cult classic, that out shines the original in almost every way.
The 7th Guest VR pays a fair and fitting tribute to a classic from a bygone era in the history of video games. The most delightful aspect of the package is the story, which has remained largely intact, with standout performances from its charismatic cast and well-chosen costumes. While it may not be a groundbreaking title in the realm of virtual reality design, it is an intellectual journey that challenges with satisfying logic puzzles.

The 7th Guest VR is not only an excellent Halloween game, it's one of the best PSVR2 games released so far. I highly recommend it!
Sometimes it’s hard to remove the nostalgia glasses and appreciate the new version of something you once held so dear. I stand by my sentiments that I wish Stauf had been more sinister, menacing, and present in this remake. The original also has more mystery surrounding what transpired, especially with the kids, but this one lays most of it out for you right at the start. In the end though, The 7th Guest VR did manage to win me over, thanks to its jaw-dropping graphics, disquieting atmosphere, and inventive puzzle designs.
New theatrical set-pieces have been captured using ‘volumetric video’ which means that it’s possible to walk around the ghostly actors as they perform; it’s not quite as spooky as it sounds but it’s technically impressive. While the performances are a big improvement on the original’s famously hammy sequences, they’re knowingly arch and fit right into the setting. And although the mansion design has been slightly tweaked, fans of the first game will feel right at home; the house starts off in a ruinous state but progression helps to bring it back to life by dusting cobwebs and fixing its disrepair. There remains much love for this franchise and it’s great to see new technology and artistry being used to bring it bang up to date for a modern audience.
The 7th Guest VR is a title that rightfully belongs among the flagships of the latest titles in the VR market. It succeeds in embodying all the most modern and polished features that are being implemented in the development of virtual reality experiences and is capable of delivering a polished and complete experience, apart from a few problems. A must-have for those looking for a puzzle-based VR adventure

The 7th Guest VR is relatively short when factoring in the puzzle solutions. As it can likely be completed in one afternoon, it would take someone with an inquisitive mind no time to find every clue they possibly can. If you are a fan of mysteries and ghost stories, this title is definitely worth a look.
It’s clear The 7th Guest VR is a labor of love made by true fans of the original game. Its puzzles are brilliant, its production values are top-notch, and it perfectly strikes that balance between creepiness and campiness that made the 1993 original such a hit. It’s just a shame that while exploring these familiar locales in VR is a nostalgic treat, the finicky controls and some questionable design choices occasionally rear their heads like fiendish phantoms to hurt the experience. However, if you can overlook these shortcomings or are a die-hard fan of the series, you’ll find The 7th Guest VR to be one hauntingly good time.
The standout feature of The 7th Guest VR is its ability to breathe new life into a classic. While remaining faithful to the original, the adaptation leverages VR technology to create a nostalgic and fresh experience. The puzzles, the storytelling, and the atmosphere are all heightened in VR, providing players with a truly memorable and captivating journey. But even if you've never played the game.. If you like horror or adventure games, you will find lots to enjoy here. With its hauntingly beautiful visuals, atmospheric audio, and seamless gameplay, The 7th Guest VR stands as a testament to the potential of bringing classic games into the VR era. For fans of the original and newcomers looking for a compelling and nostalgic adventure, The 7th Guest VR is a must-play. Prepare to be transported to a world where the puzzles are intricate, the mysteries are captivating, and the nostalgia is ever-present.
The 7th Guest VR is an all-round successful implementation of a somewhat outdated game principle. The game convinces with a coherent game world, its exciting story and an overall good puzzle quality. It's just a shame that the developers don't use haptic feedback and there are some missing comfort options.
