SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated Reviews
Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated holds up as a solid platformer to this day. While it definitely shows its age and level design philosophy of the era its from, it still has a certain charm to it that can’t be replicated.
Overall, SpongeBob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is a zesty and refreshing remake of a classic. It is no masterpiece by any standards, and some parts of it still feel superfluous, but it offers a fun single-player experience. The atmosphere of the game is great, mainly because the developers seem to have understood the universe which the game is based on, paying extra attention to fan favorites.
I’m thrilled that THQ Nordic decided to revisit the best SpongeBob game out there. Not only does it make it more accessible to a whole new generation, but it gives us long time fans an excuse to explore Bikini Bottom once more. Yes, it does still have its fair share of issues, but SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is so fun that you really won’t even care.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated isn't a good remake, but it certainly has its charms. There is no denying its general appeal as an adaptation of one of the best TV series, but if we go through the filters of an entertaining platformer game, it has many weaknesses.

Battle for Bikini Bottom is like comfort food. It’s easy to indulge and uplifting in all the right ways. Like a childhood blast from the blast, it’s quickly easy to see why this licensed platformer became a cult-classic.
A great remake of a good game. Modern gamers and SpongeBob fans will like it as much as older generation did 17 years ago.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a solid recreation of that original title, bringing back the enjoyment with stellar visuals.
Who knew that playing SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated would deliver such a solid dose of nostalgia? But deliver it does. Having played both versions of the game in the past week, I can attest that this is a rock-solid remake of fun but somewhat flawed game. You take the bad with the good on this one, but for the most part Bikini Bottom holds up surprisingly well.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a solid remake that perhaps stays a little too true to the original. The updated visuals bring the game more inline with the original cartoon series, but some dated game design holds the port back from being truly exceptional.
SpongeBob Square Pants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is akin to a time capsule, not just of the golden age of the SpongeBob cartoon but the 3D action genre that was popular two console generations ago. When it works, you can’t help but have a stupid smile on your face. When it gets bogged down, the mechanics can feel dated and the pacing a bit too long. For fans of the original, however, it’s worth a return trip for the nostalgia alone.
Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is one of those titles I never would have considered for a remake, despite having some pretty decent nostalgia for the game's initial release. By and large it does a good job of polishing up a decent game, even if it does not really reinvent the wheel.
In a way, this weirdly licensed SpongeBob game is a decent piece of video game history and I think it's worth taking a chance if you like the genre. Some interesting new features also come up, like support for menus and subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese, and a very simple multiplayer mode in which you and a friend attack waves of enemies in sequence. Battle for Bikini Bottom has never been a perfect game - and it certainly is not yet the case - but it, at the very least, continues with its unique charm and outstanding gameplay.

I enjoyed this in my more spectator role and I know my son loved the game so I would have to say this is a hearty recommendation, if you yourself are a fan or you have a fan in the family… this ought to put a smile on their dial.
Anyone charmed by the original’s rough edges will enjoy this thorough and faithful reimagining of the cherished platformer, though it may have benefitted from a bit more time in the oven to polish out technical problems and make the multiplayer mode bearable.
Mostly aimed for kids, this refreshed adventure is a little gem full of heart and nostalgia.

Nearly 17 years after the original release SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated proves why it deserved a Remake. Not only because all of the original voice actors but also thanks to Purple Lamp Studios, the charme of Bikini Bottom and everyone in it is still there. Besides some smaller technical issues, you can't make anyone wrong with getting this game if you are looking for some fun.

While the gameplay issues and poor graphics (at least on the Nintendo Switch version) may deter players, fans of the original game or fans of collect-a-thons like Banjo-Kazooie and A Hat In Time will likely welcome the remake despite its flaws. The graphics might be lacking, the gameplay might be janky, but it’s fun.
Sure, there is the nostalgia factor here, it had to be said, but sometimes it takes a bit more than that to make a game with spending your hard-earned money and time on.
GOOD - If you’re nostalgic for a simpler time in gaming, or you just need even more sponge in your life, Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is a remaster absolutely worth diving into. The level design and humor holds up incredibly well despite some clunky controls, and it really does give you that feeling of stepping back into the early 2000s for an afternoon.
