Seven new levels in the company of Hel, a new character more mobile and more fun. Too bad again for the excessive try & retry.

Ghostrunner: Project Hel is an intense slice of DLC that feels a little too similar to the original to truly excite.

With its new tightly designed stages, and new parkour and combat mechanics, Ghostrunner Project_Hel is a more than worthy purchase for fans of the base game. The new mechanics, however, do not change the experience in any significant way, so those who did not like Ghostrunner will not change their opinion with the expansion. It is good for the most part, but it still is more of the same.

‎The truth is that if you enjoyed the original, it is highly recommended to try Project Hel, because you will do it in the same way. And in my opinion, an expansion is an excellent excuse for those who want to return to their next-gen version, with Ray Tracing, 60 fps and an incredible artistic section.‎

Unfortunately, the boss fights feel a bit tame, save for the final moments of the final fight. Overall, they are repetitive and surprisingly slow at times - an issue made more apparent thanks to the aggressive synthwave soundtrack being pushed into the background instead of into the player's face. Despite these few fights, the real obstacle of Ghostrunner: Project_Hel is getting used to the new movement and combat mechanics. The speed and brutality is still there and anyone who enjoys the base game will feel right at home in this DLC.

Six new tracks by Daniel Deluxe, new Trophies and collectibles, and a refreshed progression system round out the major differences between Hel and its base game. For the most part then, Project_Hel is quite a lot like Ghostrunner, which makes sense. Ghostrunner is pretty unique though, so if you didn’t like it, you probably won’t like Project_Hel, either. However, those who did enjoy it should find enough differences, and similarities, with Project_Hel to make the most of it, and enjoy the additional context to the base story along the way. In conclusion, Project_Hel is a must have for fans of the base game, but safe to skip if you aren’t already a fan.

Ghostrunner: Project Hel, fortunately, feels like a carbon copy of what came before it. Hel, like Jack, handles beautifully and makes traversing Dharma City a treat. And while it is brief, it's exciting to get a window into ways this team can continue to expand upon this great cyberpunk universe

Ghostrunner: Project_Hel offers a nice addition to the base game, upholding the original game's amazing soundtrack and visuals. The expansion brings an extra couple of hours of that addictive live, die, repeat puzzle and action format that somehow the developers have managed to make work without frustration.

Ghostrunner Project Hel brings a character with a new gameplay style, which makes the parkour and slashing experience more refreshing, and also improves the fault tolerance rate. However, the game is limited in its innovations. The new enemies only expand the game, but fail to bring satisfying.

It's more Ghostrunner, so if you enjoyed the base game, Project_Hel should be on your radar. Hel controls and feels different, so this bundle of levels feels fresh but familiar all the same.

Ghostrunner: Project Hel is a bit of a double-edged sword. Its challenging combat is as satisfying as ever, but one can't help but be disappointed at the execution. The gameplay feels like a step back rather than forward in many regards. Hel is quicker on her feet, but the overall gameplay is less varied and focuses more on combat rather than platforming, with two boss encounters that are rather bland. It's a safe way to spend some additional time in this universe and adds about three hours of additional content. Fans will likely enjoy the added content but should probably keep their expectations in check.

There are very few original ideas on display in Project_Hel, outside of the new meter management system, and too many poor decisions that undermine the core ideas of the original, so it fails to reach the highs of the base game.

Project_Hel is a subtle but competent expansion of the Ghostrunner universe to hold the player a little more in this electrifying gaming experience. Despite not innovating much in the mechanics, the new stages raise the level of challenge that already seemed to have reached the limit in the original game to a formidable, and stressful level.

Ghostrunner Project_Hel is a fun, if a little bit short-lived expansions. Hel is an interesting character and it was great seeing a little bit more of the world that the base game introduced but rarely explored. Whilst it’s great to be back in the fantastic world of Ghostrunner, with some new abilities to spice up gameplay a little bit more, there’s just not enough content in here to keep you entertaining for more than an hour or two.

Project Hel is a great addition to the Ghostrunner universe and gives fans an excuse to jump back in. Hel is a killing machine with a new set of abilities and extended traversal. While the story is the weakest link again, there’s nothing better than playing as a ruthless combat android in the beautifully rendered world of Dharma.

Without the ebb and flow of truly great level design, Ghostrunner’s hallways and arenas can blur together into a neon mess. This is especially true in Project_Hel, which largely takes place in the same district in the tower. With that in mind, it’s best to play with the base game firmly in the realm of memory.

For the price of US$14.99, Ghostrunner’s new DLC offers a good amount of high-octane stages and challenges, not to mention a new character playstyle that’s not too different but still fun. If you crave more Ghostrunner parkour and slice-and-dicing, you’ll want to jump into this neon-lit thrill ride.

Project Hel is short, sweet, and satisfying. The expansion isn't just a rehash of the base campaign but a piece of DLC that intuitively builds on it with a more precise and capable character.

Ghostrunner Project Hel is a fun DLC that is simply more Ghostrunner. It scratches that itch while we wait for its sequel, but it just didn’t feel like enough. There are some aggravating issues and lackluster bosses, but the excuse to play more content may be enough to get some back into this game. Just, be ready for an experience that doesn’t quite live up to the original’s vision.
