If it’s not obvious already, we do not recommend purchasing The Last of Us Part I on the PC at its current state. What could have been an easy moneymaker has turned into one of the most disastrous PC launches of recent times. The premium price makes the whole thing even more painful. The quality of the PC port is only doing a disservice to the otherwise excellent experience. The only logical thing to do is wait patiently until the glaring issues are fixed and pick the game when a sale comes around.

Remake of one of the most important games in history, The Last of Us Part I deserved more, much more in its long-awaited arrival on the PC. In its current depressing state, only hardcore enthusiasts of its proposition or gamers with far above average hardware should consider a purchase before further patching; until then, others will be better served with versions already available on other platforms. Here's hoping, then, that both Naughty Dog and Sony learn their lesson: adapting games for the PC is not a simple mission. If platform players are conditioned to wait years and years for a console title, let it at least be served in a palatable way. Otherwise, it will be difficult to classify the result as anything more than indigestible.

In its current state, The Last of Us on PC should only be played by those who do not have access to a PlayStation 5 or can brute force the game with capable hardware.

This is like an old PC game that gets an HD texture pack by a modder, except that has already happened, officially, from Sony on PS4 and is again happening now. And you’re paying a premium for it each and every time.

Realistically, patches that are coming for the game may continue to make The Last of Us on PC even better. If the patches can improve the playability then the port will become akin to its console predecessors and contemporaries. However, for now, the crashes, visual bugs, texture glitches, and stuttering is not something that can be ignored. Until then, if you’re a first-time The Last of Us player and you’re looking for a seamless and non-buggy experience on PC, it may be better to wait for patches to truly get the best out of this incredible story and game.

The quality of the port is highly questionable, but The Last of Us Part I is still just as fun as it ever was and the story is similarly emotional as ever. However, if you have the option, just play the console version.

So The Last of Us Part I is somehow an improvement, but it is very minimal. The controls are sometimes quite rusty and graphically it is a small improvement and sometimes also an obstacle. Have you never played the original? Then The Last of Us Part I is definitely for you and you can add a point to it. Have you ever played the original? Then the purchase of at least 70 euros is not worth it and you can deduct one point from it.

TLoU Part 1 is for super fans of the series or those who missed the first two versions, especially for accessibility reasons. For everyone else, it's hard to recommend spending the 15 or so hours it takes to play through The Last of Us yet again.

Yes, The Last of Us Part I for the PC has somewhat improved a little under two months in. Graphical stutters, framedrops, and other visual artifacts currently exist. If you're able to look past those graphical shortcomings, The Last of Us Part I is a truly exceptional game. Consider waiting just a bit more before jumping into one of the best series from Sony and Naughty Dog to date.

The Last of Us Part I remakes the beloved 2013 game in stunning detail for the PS5, but it's difficult to recommend at full price with so few changes.

There’s nothing wrong with paying a high price to gild the lily – but there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to do so, either. I think The Last of Us Part 1 will make a great addition to the casual TLOU fan’s library when it inevitably goes on sale, and maybe the PC players when it launches on that platform as well.

After its shaky debut, it took a long time to recover with updates. Despite all of this, it's great to experience this amazing story on PC.

The Last of Us Part 1 is a questionable remake of the beloved PS3 game. While the improvements are there, they come in small forms. For new players, this is the way to go, but fans of the original should probably wait for a price cut because the small improvements definitely do not justify the price.

While there are legitimate value contentions to make about this quasi-remake, Part I earns the crown as the definitive edition of this seminal title.

The Last Of Us Part One is a great remake of a masterpiece. The story feels more impactful than ever. The gameplay is more fluid and polished, and everything looks and sounds fantastic. However, the omission of the Factions multiplayer mode means Naughty Dog didn’t remake an entire portion of the game. I understand that Naughty Dog is working on Factions separately, and maybe it comes later in an update. Similar to what Sucker Punch did with Ghost Of Tsushima’s multiplayer. But that still means part of the game just isn’t here.

Is The Last of Us Part 1 the best way to play one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time? Undoubtedly. Does that warrant a higher price tag than the original game had? Debatable.

The doubt as to whether or not a remake was necessary does not prevent Naughty Dog's classic from revalidating its position as one of the greats of its genre.

My verdict is this; if you've ever played the original The Last Of Us and The Last Of Us Part II, there's not much of a reason to immediately grab The Last Of Us Part I. Naughty Dog should have put more effort and resources into updating the gameplay mechanics to be more similar to The Last Of Us Part II. Improved visuals alone don't really justify the full price tag of RM299 if the rest of the experience is mostly the same. That being said, The Last Of Us Part I is definitely perfect for those who's never played the original game.

Everything I loved about the first game is intact, now with a visual uplift and a few enhancements. But the changes in The Last of Us Part 1 didn’t greatly enhance the finer points of this masterpiece, to an extent that I wouldn’t recommend this release right off the gate.

All these improvements — permadeath, DualSense, and most of all, the graphical upgrades — come at a significant cost.
