In conclusion, Soulstice is an inspired, enjoyable video game with an engaging narrative. The Sacred Realm of the Keidas is a wonderful and untamed place, and Ilden is a wonderfully depicted city even in tragedy. With an interesting game design and an engaging combat system, Soulstice proves to be a mature work. A few technical stumbling blocks here and there are worth mentioning, but it is nothing that compromises the actual enjoyability of the experience, which remains well paced and enjoyable throughout.

Soulstice is an excellent first effort in what must be an enormously difficult genre. Just imagine the work that must go into crafting such big, challenging action set pieces and leave the player feeling satisfied rather than infuriated. Soulstice isn’t perfect, but I hope the development team does stick at this, because they’re on to something special.

Soulstice is a dark and action-packed thrill ride with a strong story of sisterhood, and a bevy of options for every type of player.

It's a chaotic push and pull between ecstatic fun and dull annoyance that honestly drives Soulstice, but it's nonetheless worth checking out.

Soulstice is a competent action game with creative monsters, but they're doomed to live in a bland setting with tedious level design.

Ultimately, a combat game has to be judged by how good its combat is, and in that respect Soulstice passes with flying colors.

Soulstice has a lot of, well, spirit to make it more than above-average hack and slash 2000-era fare. "A" for effort, at the very least.

While the combat isn't quite as fluid as its big siblings, and the graphic style takes some time to get used to, at its core, Soulstice is a very good action game with a solid, albeit predictable, story.

Soulstice is a beautiful hack 'n slash that falls short in areas such as world building, pacing, level design, and art direction. However, it establishes a shared combat and exploration system between two characters in one that, by itself, makes it surprising and challenging.

A meaty action game let down by a persistently rubbish camera and a lack of variation in its stages.

Soulstice doesn’t really bring much to the Crazy Stylized Action games table and the many components of its combat design don’t quite gel together that combined with its ancient camera system, makes many of the action moments a chore to play.

Soulstice is a solid outing that I wanted to love and recommend more. It borrows heavily from games like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry without fully capturing what makes those titles so special. Still for a fairly new developer taking a stab at the genre it is filled with promise and in an era where games are supported I hope a patch can sort out of some the minor issues over time. I had fun with the game and hope they continue to improve on their craft. I am always down for character action games and if you are like me and miss the days when these were a dime a dozen, Soulstice is likely right up your alley.

Despite some gaffes, one of its biggest strengths is that it achieves exactly what many AA titles set out to do by delivering on a somewhat uncommon genre that has largely fallen out of favor. Soulstice may not reach the highest echelons of character-action bliss, but when its art direction, mechanics, and score are in harmony, it scratches an itch that only this brand of stylish spectacle can.

Soulstice is filled with fast and furious combat that will please fans and newcomers to the genre. It doesn't really innovate the genre but the developers put a nice twist on existing mechanics. Other than a few issues with the camera, Soulstice is a solid title that maybe plays it a bit too safe.

I loved my experience with Soulstice. The fast pace of the game makes us never want to stop. The developers managed to combine different styles in a brilliant way. With the multiple difficulty levels, there's a challenge for everyone.

Soulstice, developed by Reply Game Studios, is perhaps the studio’s most audacious project to date. A well-made game that does its best is nonetheless far below the genre’s best. Despite its fresh take on fighting and the dual blue and red field mechanism introduced in the game’s sister pair, Soulstice still seems like a carbon copy of other superior hack-and-slash titles. If these issues are addressed, Soulstice might stand out as a pleasant surprise and become an enjoyable game.

Soulstice copies a lot of formulas from past celebrated hack'n'slash games but fails to execute them accordingly. It can get repetitive and boring, and also is plagued by many technical issues. Talk about a lost chance...

Soulstice’s excellent combat system singlehandedly saves the game from its own mundane presentation, technical problems, and uninteresting narrative. If you’re looking for an old-school action-adventure game, this might be worth a pickup.
