All in all, Fae Farm is an excellent choice for those who enjoy farming simulation games with a touch of adventure. While it might not reach the heights of the genre, there is still plenty to offer here.

Fae Farm is a very good life simulation game. It's well developed and includes a unique story. Played on my Steam Deck, it's fluid and very pretty. I'm a fan of games like Rune Factory, Story of Seasons and Harvest Moon. With Fae Farm, I've found a nice alternative that occupies my evenings for a few hours. It's really great.

Not exactly innovative or amazing, Fae Farm is a great farming simulator for those looking for a relaxing game. With a region rich in biomes to discover, plenty of variety in activities to fill our time and a story that, despite being mediocre, serves as a great excuse to interact with the various basic components of Fae Farm.

At its core, Fae Farm is a beautifully rendered farming simulator that, in my opinion, could compete with the best of its genre. It’s mechanically familiar to anyone that’s played Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing while having a unique enough art style and storyline that it can stand out against other titles. It balances its necessary elements—story and community building—against each other in a way that creates smooth gameplay, and it presents a cozy vibe perfect for the fall and winter months ahead. There are some elements of Fae Farm that may leave some craving a bit more of a challenge, as well as technical issues that do set it back, but it makes up for itself by being creative and fun. I don’t find myself terribly compelled to play Fae Farm constantly, but it is an undeniably enjoyable, adventurous, and approachable game that has brought together the farming simulator and story genres in one cozy package.

I’ve said it on the podcast a few times, I love Fae Farm. Having the 4-player coop is truly icing on the cake as these games are so much more fun with friends, being able to divide and conquer to accomplish tasks is the preferred way to play these cozy games for me. Fae Farm has managed to breach my top 10 list for 2023 which any REAL gamer knows is just an absolutely bananas year for the medium. Not every game has to have realistic graphics, all-star voice casting or even an animal mascot and I think Fae Farm proves that in a year of bangers just being a fun, smart, cozy game can be enough to stand out.

It is a game that tries to compete with the popular farming sims, but never quite does enough to stand on its own feet. While there are kernels of good ideas, they are marred by questionable design choices, with quests and goals that never feel satisfying.

At first, I thought of Fae Farm as just another Animal Crossing clone. What I got, however, was much more than that. Especially when you consider how much content Animal Crossing had at the beginning on the Switch, Fae Farm has a lot more to offer. But enough of the comparisons, because to always just compare is not fair to the game at all. Do we have an outstanding masterpiece here? No. What we have here, however, is a great indie game with a motivated team behind it, and you can definitely tell. So far, Fae Farm is high on my list of feel-good games and I'm still very excited to see how the game will develop with the announced updates.

If you just need a new hangout game for low-stress multiplayer sessions, I imagine you’d find a lot to like in Fae Farm. But if you’re looking for the next big farming sim, you’re not going to find it here.

Fun and with a lot of content, although it presents some technical problems, at least in the Nintendo Switch version.

Adding a magical twist to agriculture certainly helps Fae Farm stand out from competitors, but unfortunately so does the myriad of glitches. These may yet be fixed in future updates, just like the latest one mended some bugs. For some, the cute vibe makes up for the aforementioned issues. It is still essentially an extremely fun life-sim, with a considerable number of quests to fulfil while sporting wings (after a set story point) and quirky characters to befriend, providing dozens of hours of gameplay for those with the patience to forgive the sometimes poorly executed parts that sorely need polishing.

Phoenix Labs has delivered a magical, inclusive game with many useful features that lead to a stressfree and fun experience. The NPCs feel a bit shallow, but that doesn’t take too much away from the game.

Fae Farm is a game where the developers have successfully streamlined the more tedious pieces of farming, chores, dungeon crawling, quest completion, and exploration so the player can quickly dive into the features and figure out their sim life rhythm. The sheer number of things to do keeps the experience fresh and for the most part limits the tedium that this genre can be guilty of. Beyond the glaring technical issues, Fae Farm has a lot to offer for both new and experienced players of the farm sim if you can forgive it.

Fae Farm is a warm and cozy, somewhat grindy kind of game, with tons to do and hours to create your dream home and ideal farms. Although the game is really well polished in regards to the environments and gameplay, the game does just feel like a 3D Stardew Valley clone, as certain aspects of the game are incredibly similar to ConcernedApe’s iconic farming sim, both in terms of Stardew Valley’s mechanics and gameplay just dressed in a fae themed tutu.

A "cozy game" in the wake of Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley and other similar games. Phoenix Labs has drawn heavily from the inevitable sources of inspiration and created an all in all enjoyable and relaxing sim-farm that unfortunately, however, does not sufficiently deepen its fantasy and adventure soul.

Fae Farm is still an enjoyable farming sim where you can easily lose track of time, spending hours crafting items, petting animals, and spelunking in dungeons. The kid-friendly tone of the game makes it easy to recommend for all audiences, though the NPCs and thereby the town of Azoria lack depth. The main quests are more interested in having you explore dungeons than actual farming, and the game has more than several areas that need improvement. Still, despite its flaws, Fae Farm fits cozily among the rest of its farming brethren.

Farming, bug catching, fishing, crafting and animal care have all been implemented well in Fae Farm. There is certainly plenty to keep you busy. The game looks beautiful, and it’s pretty chill. However, I’d look elsewhere if you’re into the romance side of simulation games and looking for relationships with NPCs. The NPCs don’t offer much and feel wooden, which is a pity. The price point of Fae Farm is high, in the same league as you’d pay for the more well known IPs. A lot of you may be wondering if it’s worth it, and Yvonne and I discussed this specifically. Well, Fae Farm does promise two big updates from December 2023 to June 2024. And even at the start, it’s already a huge game. And I must say, it plays effortlessly, no bugs or anything marring the gameplay, and it’s a feast to look at. So I’d be inclined to say that for me, it’s worth the price. Fae Farm is definitely worth a look if you’re a cosy game and farm sim fan. Just make sure you have ample time, as the gameplay and especially the crafting can be very addictive

Fae Farm takes note of what works in many great games and combines them in an entertaining, enjoyable package that offers great opportunities for replayability and multiplayer. Its relatively forgettable cast, grindy activity, along with some other minor frustrations do detract a bit from the game, but if you’ve ever loved farming sims / even if you haven’t, you’ll find plenty to enjoy and unpack here.

An all right farming simulator with charming graphics, fairly rounded mechanics, and a unique and interesting magical angle, but too slow to the selling point.
