Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Reviews
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 delivers exactly what it sought to. Smashing through hordes of enemies in masterfully crafted levels. Each and every detail feels intentional and thought out. Saber Interactive make perfect use of their Swarm Engine to deliver incredibly fun and satisfying encounters, many of which feel chaotic and yet manageable with the tools you’re given. It’s hard not to feel immersed in your role as a Space Marine when you’re slaughtering hordes of enemies, smashing small enemies into their allies, tearing limbs off bigger enemies and gutting them with it. Using well-timed grenades to eviscerate entire hordes. Truly every piece of the moment to moment gameplay is a joy to experience. And of course, Saber Interactive deserve praise for having virtually all cosmetic unlocks in the game be done so IN the game. A practice that is becoming increasingly uncommon.
If you are on the fence about picking up Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, then you shouldn’t wait. Once you get into the game, the combat is smooth and will keep your heart-racing. Despite its bugs, the game is still a ton of fun and will suck you into the war you never knew you wanted to fight.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is an absolutely worthy sequel to the original game from Relic Entertainment. From the story to the combat system, the developers have done a good job of bringing over the strong elements of the first game and adding large hordes of enemies. The campaign's length feels good, and while the PvP aspect of the multiplayer will tickle the nostalgia bone, it is the PvE section of the multiplayer component and constant support that will keep the game installed on machines. Space Marine 2 is a great addition for anyone who's a fan of action games. Here's hoping that any potential sequel doesn't take another 13 years.
A classic in a new skin. Space Marine 2 is a bloody, spectacular and enjoyable experience.... The developers have left themselves a wicket for a continuation of the story, and I hope they won't change the premise. There is a shortage of such games on the market.

Despite great visuals and hectic combat, Space Marine 2 stumbles on its repetition and generic missions. While co-op has limited appeal, the single player is boring and the competitive action is mostly an afterthought. And even devout followers may lose faith due to the technical issues.
Simply the best Warhammer 40K action game that brings a totally accurate W40K experience. And despite some flaws, the game is solid in its pure brutal way.

The game that will put an individual W40K lover into it the most, it is also the game that will make an action lover love the W40K universe. No matter which one you are, you will have a lot of fun.

Hardened Warhammer fans finally have the ultimate Space Marine experience with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Gory, bloody, and brutally entertaining combat stands at the forefront of Space Marine 2, delivering one of the most immersive Warhammer worlds to date. However, after 14 years between releases, a refresher on the events of the original wouldn’t have gone amiss.
Space Marine 2 is a game that will appeal to just about anyone who likes action games. This thing is fast, very furious, and intense. It doesn’t give you long to breathe between throwing more hordes at you, and thanks to that single-minded ferocity, in both single-player and multiplayer it’s a hoot. I don’t think it does a particularly great job of capturing the spirit and intent of the tabletop game and lore, but then again, whenever I was playing I was also having too much fun to care.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 replicates the feeling of being a badass almost seamlessly. It's only a shame that mandatory matchmaking for Operations and dumb AI in Campaign take away your agency to experience it the way you might want to.
Space Marine 2 presents what we needed from a sequel to an excellent action hack and slasher, lots of bloody battles, epic moments, and great content.

The game excels at progressing in co-op and the campaign is not to be thrown away either. And you don't have to be raised on Warhammer to enjoy it. However, operations are extremely difficult for a solo player, so be sure to look around for live teammates.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is brutal and bloodthirsty like its predecessor. It has solid mechanics, even if not very inventive and quite repetitive, and is full of clichés on all sides. However, it's the typical action game that works for its simplicity and for going straight to the point: slaughter some aliens without too many questions.

Overall, despite some issues, Space Marine 2 is a very valuable game for two groups of players: first, those who love the Warhammer universe and will greatly enjoy immersing themselves in the game’s world; and second, gamers who are interested in Co-Op experiences and can play Space Marine 2 with their friends. In this case, some of the game’s problems, such as AI weaknesses, are less noticeable. The brutal and bloody action, along with the appropriate atmosphere of the game’s world and the Operations mode, are other positive features of the game. If you enjoy exciting action titles, you will probably also greatly enjoy Space Marine 2.

What remains to be said about Space Marine 2? It’s undeniably a good game and a significant qualitative leap from Saber’s previous efforts, even if it arrives on day one with somewhat limited and repetitive content, further aggravated by a range of technical and conceptual issues that can unnecessarily complicate the player’s experience. We’re certain things will improve over time, but for now, the game’s offering is far from being a solid 1.0. Full-price purchase may only be worthwhile in the long term, especially considering Saber’s long-term support for World War Z. Still, it’s an enjoyable experience, particularly in co-op mode.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is near perfect and the greatest game I’ve played in that universe. With a meaty campaign, fantastic horde-based modes and PvP online multiplayer included, there is the potential for hundreds of hours of gameplay here. It is far more exciting playing this co-operatively with friends but I had great joy from reviewing this alone in the weeks leading up to launch. The team at Saber Interactive already has a well-established roadmap for the next 12 months which adds even more in the way of cosmetics, weapons, modes and more. The future for this title is exciting and whilst it retains an active player base, I believe the team at Saber will keep adding content to the game. For Xbox Series X players though, this is one of the best-looking games I’ve seen on the console to date and for the most part performance is buttery smooth throughout. For die-hard Warhammer fans, this is an absolute must-buy, but for those who just love the shooter genre as a whole then this will be one of the best you’ll see in 2024.
Space Marine 2, fortunately, doesn't try to "reinvent the wheel" and is exactly the sequel that fans (including myself) were hoping for. It's just a pity that we had to wait so many years for it. The game does have a few imperfections, but they aren't that severe and, moreover — are fully fixable.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, 13 years after the original, sets a high new standard for video games in the Grimdark universe of Games Workshop. Ruthless, entertaining, and refreshingly straightforward, this title from Saber Interactive will delight both longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Epic, detailed and brutal: Space Marine 2 is a true ode to the 40k universe! But as entertaining and technically impressive as the bloody battles against endless hordes of enemies are: Titus' campaign against the Tyranids and Thousands Sons could have used a little more variety. Nevertheless: Space Marine 2 is a new must-have for every 40k fan.
