Tetris Forever is a package of two halves of varying quality. Even though it hasn't been discussed much in this review, the documentary portion maintains the level of quality seen in the previous Gold Master Series titles from Digital Eclipse. There's an extensive amount of information about the game's lifetime. On the other hand, the games are fine, and some are outright brilliant, but the package can feel disappointing for many. The game selection doesn't contain many of the more memorable iterations in the series, and other versions of the same game could've been excluded. This may not be anyone's first choice when it comes to playing a few rounds of Tetris, but it's a good way to chronicle the history of this influential title.

If you’re looking, specifically, for a game of Tetris to play then Tetris Forever is probably not the game for you. As certain negative reviews from the gamers have also noted there’s no online multiplayer or leaderboards, which for score attack games is a pretty big issue.
Not just for those who engage with games on a daily basis, but especially for people who are unaware of why games are cultural heritage and deserve to be preserved and celebrated as more than just toys. The new inclusion of Tetris Timewarp makes for a fun Tetris variant and is particularly rewarding after learning about the series' wide and wild history. So put the game on like a documentary with the family, introduce it to your colleagues and make them understand that it won't be just Tetris forever, but games forever as well.
Tetris Forever is a great way to play through the history of the franchise with some awesome titles that were never released outside of Japan.
Odd assortment of games aside, Tetris Forever is a wonderful document for an iconic series that fans will definitely appreciate. 🧩
Tetris Forever does everything it can to educate fans about the series while also providing a vast library of titles to try. While amazing to play and explore, there are some obvious missing pieces that didn't drop into this puzzler collection.

Tetris Forever is an interesting piece of history as it lets players deep dive in more obscure, older Tetris games; but as you’d expect, a lot of them haven’t aged well. The new entry, Tetris Time Warp, is a fun new addition to the long running series. But given the age of the games included, it’s hard to recommend Tetris Forever to anyone other than diehard Tetris fans.
Digital Eclipse has crafted a love letter to Tetris, a comprehensive collection that caters to both die-hard fans and curious newcomers across 40 years. The sheer volume of content, thoughtful presentation, and innovative additions like Remix mode make it an absolute joy to play. It’s a beautiful reminder of the game’s enduring appeal, a testament to the power of simple mechanics and elegant design. Whether you’re a seasoned Tetris veteran chasing high scores or someone with a vague recollection of that childhood Game Boy classic, Tetris Forever has something to offer. It doesn’t have all the Tetris games you’d want, and the Game Boy omission is palatable, but it’s worth the price of admission for this museum to ensure preservation.

Tetris Forever succeeds in its mission of delivering a compilation worthy of the legacy of one of the most influential franchises in the gaming industry. This compilation is easily one of the best I’ve played and experienced in quite a while. Which makes for an easy reccommendation for anyone interested in doing a deep dive into one of the premier lynchpins of the industry.
It doesn’t surprise me that Tetris Forever is so good. This is the fourth playable documentary by Digital Eclipse, and those guys take gaming history and preservation to an outstanding degree of love and care. The interviews are great (Alexey is just the most huggable uncle), the documents are neat, the easter eggs are a nice addition, and the sheer amount of versions of Tetris included in the package will please each and every single fan of the franchise.
