Sid Meier's Civilization VII introduces some much-needed shake-ups to the formula with welcome changes. However, at times, it feels like something is missing. For fans of the long-running series, there's plenty to get excited about, and it's as addictive as ever. It's also probably one of the more approachable entries for newcomers. Overall, plenty to love now, and hopefully, some changes to make certain aspects more lovable in the future.

Civilization VII is more Civilization. If you liked V or VI, then this will probably be right up your street, because it's essentially more of the same. The changes to eras, leaders, and streamlining of some of the city management might turn off some die-hard players, but the core experience is still there.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII stands as a testament to the enduring strength of its franchise, much like a civilization that continues to thrive through the ages. Rather than resting on its laurels, it has evolved, constantly integrating innovation and the best elements from its predecessors to further solidify its place in gaming history. Its ability to embrace change while maintaining its core essence proves that this legendary series is still capable of standing the test of time. Civilization VII reaffirms that the series remains as relevant and compelling as ever.

Civilization VII – just like every chapter in the series – is a game that should be appreciated over time, especially in a case like this, where the radical desire to take a step towards the future is evident.

Civilization VII is a great 4X experience and every gamer interested in the genre should give it a try. The turn-based mechanics support a wide variety of playstyles and there’s a ton of diversity in leader and civ combinations. The eras system comes across as limited at first, but it basically allows players to play three potentially very different games of Civ in one campaign.

With some slip-ups in terms of pacing and shallow unit management, Sid Meier's Civilization VII brings innovations that benefit the agility of actions and the customization of the experience based on compositions between eras and leaders. And with solid mechanics and neat visuals, it continues to be the greatest reference of the 4X genre of this generation.

With massive changes and a wealth of new ideas, Civilization VII appears to be steering the series in a bold new direction. While some hardcore fans may not embrace all the changes, the core gameplay remains intact. However, the overall package could have benefited from a few final refinements.

Civilization VII brings a lot of changes to the formula, but they don't feel entirely innovative or fully realized. The core of the experience retains its addictive qualities, and yet lacks refinement at launch.

Overall, Civilization 7 still retains the timeless spirit of the Civilization series and can be counted on as an experience to be entertained by for a long time. However, some of the development team's decisions regarding changes and new features in the game are questionable and may especially annoy longtime fans. Nevertheless, if you have always dreamed of creating your own civilization, Civilization 7 is a delightful and addictive experience and can serve as a good entry point for those who have always been hesitant to try it due to the series' perceived complexity.

Civilization VII is an innovative and engaging experience among strategy games, with some subtle changes compared to previous releases, especially Civilization VI. By dividing the game into three distinct eras, this version allows players to experience each era independently and take advantage of their unique challenges.

Although it has become superficial in terms of strategy, Civilization has turned into a brand-new game waiting to be discovered. You'll spend hours on it and won't regret it.

Civilization VII is an impressive attempt to redefine the formula, and at the same time pays homage to the old, best solutions from previous parts. Three eras in one game provide an interesting pace, while friendly diplomacy and a new system of doctrines add variety to the familiar fun. The developers have included a wealth of mechanics here from the first minute, providing a solid foundation without the need to wait for DLC. While the simplifications in management may not be to everyone's taste, the sheer atmosphere and strategic depth still make this installment worth playing right off the bat.

Despite the fact that the Civilization series has been around for a while, it still manages to bring something new that at least slightly enriches and changes the gameplay. Here we have another quality piece of work that is worth playing.

Civilization VII revolutionizes the franchise with its major changes, making this latest entry such a fun, thrilling, and overall enjoyable 4X game to date! I can’t seem to stop playing, even on the go, even in my bedroom, I always have that “one more turn” moment before I shut my eyes. Civilization VII is simply incredible, and I can’t wait for players to get their hands on the game when it launches this month.

Thanks to its (not so) few changes from previous instalments, Civilization VII provides more freedom to think and strategize so that we can build a different way of playing each time. With a wide range of options and more profound decision-making, Fireaxis offers one of the best games in the franchise.

A courageous chapter in the Civilization saga. The new "Eras" mechanic breathes new life into a trusted formula. The best 4X turn-based strategy game of this generation.

If you're a new player looking for your next strategy game fix, you definitely can't go wrong with Sid Meier's Civilization VII. However, other than the ages system, I'm hard-pressed to think of what I'm excited about in this new entry when I could just play the previous installment. 🏛️

As much as I’d love to give it a perfect 100, Civilization VII isn’t quite the full evolution of the Civ formula it was hyped up to be. Don’t get me wrong—it’s still a fantastic game, just not as refined or complete as it ought to have been, with some oddly incomplete systems and uneven pacing. But if you can look past that? Then, sure—this might just be the perfect 4X experience you’ve been waiting for.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII offers a fresh take on the franchise, introducing innovations that make the game more accessible while keeping gameplay dynamic for extended periods of time. While some elements, such as diplomatic relations, lack variation, the strategic depth that characterizes the series and the genre remains largely intact.

Meier's Civilization VII offers a great gaming experience and is already a worthy successor to Civilization VI in many parts. Nevertheless, appearances are slightly deceptive, as the game does not seem to be fully developed in some areas. There is still a lot of room for improvement and, as with its predecessors or many other games today, it will probably only really be as it should be with a large DLC. You have to give the developers credit for the fact that they are already releasing regular updates at very short intervals, but at the same time they are already releasing the first paid DLCs. The fact that this includes England has rightly upset many fans. It also remains questionable whether things like artwork and music will make it back into the game once they have been removed. I would buy Civilization VII, as many of the new gameplay features are really fun and the game leaves quite a good overall impression. On the other hand, I think spending at least 100 euros to get all the available content is quite a lot of money for the fact that some parts of the game are still unfinished.
