Sometimes a humble score review and number just isn’t enough to illustrate how pivotal and important this game may be. All these features are packed into a smaller-than-usual price of 50$ versus the ongoing increase in video game prices as well. This painting is a masterpiece.
Even apocalypse can be beautiful. In Expedition 33's case it presents itself as a haunting chiaroscuro painting that warps colours, designs, music and even commonly with JRPG's associated mechanics to create something, simply stunning. Whether it is the challenging innovative turn-based combat, impeccable performances, heart-wrenching music or unique story, this title very efficiently uses all of it's unique selling points to just drawn you in deeper and deeper into a Belle 'poque twisted dream'

Expedition 33 is magnificent in every possible way. I was in love with it whole time and while playing I’ve became so engaged with characters and the story surround them I forgot the flow of time entirely. This is clearly the future for JRPG’s and it’s sense of scale is outstanding. Definitely a classic for years to come.

Clair Obscur is not a genre revival, but it builds on proven foundations and brings a fresh wind of originality. With the combination of high-quality story and strong characters it makes a compact and bloated experience with the heart. Thanks to those a few flaws you'll gladly forgive it for.

For anyone looking for an RPG that values story, timing, and character over spectacle, this is one worth seeing through. It’s smart without being complicated. Focused without feeling small. And when it ends, it stays with you.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a hybrid of tactical combat and real-time interaction that reinvents traditional turn-based systems with dodging, parrying, counters, and timed attacks. Through a highly stylized visual approach, dynamic storytelling, and a deeply flexible party system, Clair Obscur delivers a refreshing take on the genre, backed by a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack and surprisingly poignant character moments.
Sandfall Interactive has absolutely delivered a polished RPG with memorable characters and a unique world. Even with some pacing and polish issues, the experience sticks. If you’re into narrative-heavy games with strong vibes and can tolerate a few annoyances, it’s well worth it.
