Tormented Souls 2 Reviews
Tormented Souls 2 is more of the same, but that's not a bad thing. Even though the encounter design can become frustrating at times, the game is packed with content, varied puzzles and a haunting atmosphere. It's a good time to be a survival horror fan.
Tormented Souls II doesn't just walk in the footsteps of its predecessor; it improves upon them. With greater location variety and clever puzzles, it's a triumphant return that shows classic survival-horror is still fiercely desired.

Taking everything that made the first one enjoyable but clanky, Tormented Souls 2 is a refinement in every sense. A more cohesive narrative (when it gets rolling), better combat and a much nicer presentation, it's a great continuation for the retro-inspired series. A bit obtuse in places, it nonetheless will scratch that itch for the older Resident Evil and Silent Hill fans.
Tormented Souls 2 confirms itself as a labour of love for classic survival horror games, but unfortunately fails to iron out the issues that already plagued its predecessor. While the art direction is top-notch, the experience falls flat under the weight of an outdated combat system. Added to this are a basic narrative and a shallow protagonist, which fail to support the exploration. The result is a title recommended exclusively for purists of the genre, even if it represents a missed opportunity to evolve the formula.

Tormented Souls II not only keeps the spirit of survival horror alive, but also demonstrates that Dual Effect understands very well what makes the genre work: tension, fragility, and respect for the player.

"Tormented Souls 2" is old-school survival horror at its finest, with all its quirks and flaws.

Tormented Souls 2 does a great job at setting itself apart from the first entry in the series by refining much of what made the first game difficult and frustrating. Tormented Souls 2 improves on the combat in almost every single way by offering a wider variety of weapons, much larger environments to explore, great animations, and an increased fear factor.
Creepy, challenging, and atmospheric, Tormented Souls 2 nails survival horror’s essence, though its reliance on old tricks makes it feel familiar at times.
Tormented Souls 2 is a faithful 90s horror throwback with excellent atmosphere, level design, and puzzles, but its promise is undermined by a clunky combat system, thin character development, and a muddled, poorly paced story.
Tormented Souls 2 builds upon the foundation of its predecessor with smoother controls, improved pacing, and an atmosphere that successfully captures the essence of classic survival horror. Despite predictable environments and some rough edges in puzzles and combat, it’s a confident follow-up that proves the series can stand on its own moving forward.

Tormented Souls 2 is, first and foremost, an act of love. A tribute to the past, but also a statement of intent for the present: to prove that horror doesn't need excess to work, but only good ideas, atmosphere, and respect for the rhythm of fear. Tormented Souls 2 chooses slowness, tension, and anticipation. An experience that speaks directly to lovers of classic survival horror, but also manages to offer something new to those who have never really experienced it. An elegant, visceral, and melancholic nightmare that doesn't scream to scare, but whispers to get under your skin.

Tormented Souls 2 is definitely not an entry-level game for someone expecting a horror game like Resident Evil or something similar. You really need to like the puzzles, gameplay, and atmosphere, but if you do, this is a winner. The gameplay, UI, and graphics are a bit clunky here and there and certainly aren't high-quality, but the game still feels very atmospheric and frightening. Distant screams, footsteps that seem to be walking towards you, and all sorts of bloody scenes regularly terrify you, and that was certainly the developer's goal. Personally, the game's patience and puzzle-solving tested me quite a bit, and that sometimes worked against me, partly due to the clunky mechanics. But all in all, the target audience will undoubtedly have a great time with this adventure puzzle game.

Dripping with atmosphere and delivering loads of scares, Tormented Souls 2 is a sequel you should look into if you enjoy Resident Evil-likes.
Tormented Souls 2 is old-school survival horror at its finest, with the game brimming with eerie atmosphere, clever puzzles, and that ever-present sense of unnerving tension that defines the genre. Sure, the combat can be clunky and a few puzzles border a little too close to cryptic at times, but honestly? Those rough edges almost feel like part of the charm… almost. What Dual Effect has delivered here is a lovingly crafted throwback that feels both familiar and fresh, a rare balance that few games in the genre manage to strike. Whether you’re coming back for more after the first game, a veteran of the classics of yesteryear, or a newcomer curious about what made survival horror so captivating in the first place, Tormented Souls 2 is certainly worth your time.
Tormented Souls 2 isn’t perfect, but it is a great survival horror sequel that knows exactly what horror fans want. It gets better, grows, and sometimes annoys, but it never changes who it is. Dual Effect didn’t follow the latest trends; instead, they built on what made the first game great, making careful changes to make it even better.
Tormented Souls 2 doesn’t strive to do anything new because it doesn’t need to. It takes the original game and improves on it in just about every way possible.
Tormented Souls 2 delivers a confidently crafted survival horror experience that leans into its classic inspirations while pushing the genre in creative directions. With stronger world design, improved pacing, and some of the most atmospheric puzzle sections in recent indie horror, it’s a must-play for fans of old-school tension and challenge.
Tormented Souls 2 confirms that Dual Effect is not a flash in the pan, but a solid presence on the indie horror scene. The Chilean team has deeply understood what makes a survival horror game memorable: the atmosphere, the vulnerability and the gratification of overcoming the impossible. Despite some stiffness in the controls and some limitations in interactivity, the title remains an experience of rare intensity. It is a journey into terror that does not just scare, but reminds the player why survival horror is, first and foremost, a test of nerves and dedication.

Tormented Souls 2 doesn't follow the latest fads. It doesn't want to be a horror movie or a "streamer jump-scare" machine. It's a love letter to a time long forgotten. The game respects you enough to let you try, fail, and finally win.
