Forza Horizon 6 accomplishes an extraordinary feat: improving upon a formula that was already close to perfection. Playground Games elevates the experience with a stunning, massive map of Japan, refined mechanics, and endless content. It’s a majestic racing game and a true masterpiece that will keep players engaged for years to come. An absolute must-play for any racing fan.

Despite offering no innovation whatsoever, Forza Horizon 6 still reigns supreme over every arcade racer out there. Nothing comes close to the feeling of taming a ferocious yellow Porsche 911 Turbo at 200 kilometers per hour beneath a canopy of pink cherry blossom trees.

Forza Horizon 6 is the new pinnacle of the open-world racing genre, featuring a captivating Tokyo map, the much-missed festival spirit, and road designs that elevate the driving experience to new heights. Although its structure, which rewards the player very quickly, slightly dampens the “climbing from the bottom” feeling, its immense atmosphere, revamped engine sounds, and flawless optimization make it an undisputed masterpiece for racing enthusiasts.

Forza Horizon 6 doesn’t hit the same turbocharged highs as its Mexico-set predecessor, trading some of the series’ wacky arcade chaos for a more grounded spin through Japan. Though when it lets loose with drift events, Horizon Rush and a soundtrack packed with EDM, J-pop and anime bangers, it genuinely rips.

Forza Horizon 6 effortlessly lives up to all expectations. If you enjoyed the previous instalments, you’re sure to have a blast tearing through Tokyo and the surrounding area. The city looks breathtaking and there’s more than enough to discover. The cars look even better than before and handle brilliantly once again. With Forza Horizon 6, you’re once again getting a fantastic playground to lose yourself in for hours on end. An absolute must-have!

Forza Horizon 6 is the best and most familiar the series has ever been. The festival’s arrival in Japan is a feast for the eyes, running incredibly well on every type of hardware I tried it on. Despite some issues with the ending grind, if you have ever enjoyed the series or thought about trying it, Forza Horizon 6 is an incredibly fun time.

Out of all the gorgeous places this series has taken us, Japan was always a frequent request across social media, and now that wish has come true. On top of that, the gameplay is divine, and the content that the game has now, and perhaps what’s to come, might just keep us entertained until the arrival of the next entry and beyond, wherever that may take us. We may only be in April, but I’d be surprised if anything pips Forza Horizon 6 as the best racing game of 2026.

Forza Horizon 6 makes Japan feel like the perfect playground for the series. The racing is still as satisfying as ever, the map is beautiful, and I often found myself ignoring objectives just to keep driving. It’s familiar in structure, but once you’re on the road, that barely matters.

Forza Horizon 6 is the most comprehensive installment in the series to date. It’s a wonderful evolution of the familiar formula, though unfortunately there are no groundbreaking innovations here. The crown of the king of racing games shows no sign of slipping from Forza’s head, but the competition is hot on its heels. If, with the release of the seventh installment, you continue to play it safe, avoid taking risks, and don’t try something new, then next time, mere evolution and refinement of existing formulas might not be enough. Nevertheless, my final assessment of Forza Horizon 6 hasn’t changed one bit. It’s not just an excellent racing game, but an excellent game period. Forza Horizon 6 is a masterpiece in the world of racing games.

All of that is minor in the grand scheme of Forza Horizon 6, which continues the series' dominance in this casual, arcade-esque style of racing. The tools are there if you want to perfectly tune every aspect of your vehicle, and the difficulty and realism can be bumped through the roof if you so choose. But if you're like me, the satisfaction of drifting around turns, speeding down highways, and barreling through a forest with no regard for anyone's safety comes from the approachability offered by the best Forza Horizon game yet.

Forza Horizon 6 doesn’t reinvent the formula, but refines it to near perfection. Set in a beautifully reimagined Japan, it delivers an incredibly rich and varied open-world racing experience, backed by polished simcade gameplay, deep customization, and seamless multiplayer integration. While the lack of major innovations and an overwhelming amount of content may hold it back slightly, it remains one of the finest entries in the genre.

Forza Horizon 6 feels like the series finally reaching full confidence in what it wants to be. It delivers an open-world racing experience that’s easy to get into without losing depth, visually stunning without sacrificing player freedom, and packed with enough variety that simply driving around doesn’t stop the fun. While a few technical rough edges and a lighter narrative structure keep it from perfection, the overall package succeeds where it matters most: inspiring players to genuinely want to keep getting back behind the wheel.

Forza Horizon 6 is a landmark title, as it not only does everything it sets out to do but also does so in a way that allows anyone, even those previously put off by open-world games, to play and enjoy it. Playground and Turn 10 Studios have made the conscious decision to take the time to figure this stuff out. They succeeded in creating a game that immerses you in the culture and lets you have a great time. Even if you aren’t coming at this one from an accessibility standpoint, the game is an absolute blast to play.

Forza Horizon 6 recaptures a sense of automotive culture the series was slowly beginning to lose over time. Cars no longer feel like disposable rewards handed out every few minutes. They now feel like machines worth learning, customising, and mastering. The underground tone, the emphasis on drifting and technical driving, and the more restrained structure all contribute toward making the experience feel more personal and memorable. It may not radically reinvent the Horizon formula, and some players will undoubtedly wish for more substantial innovation, but there is a strong argument to be made that Playground Games did not need to reinvent the formula at all. Instead, the studio refined nearly every major criticism levelled at previous entries while simultaneously delivering the most atmospheric setting the franchise has ever seen. Forza Horizon 6 is not simply another excellent arcade racer. It is the most complete expression of what the Horizon series has been building toward for more than a decade.
