While The Blood of Dawnwalker and its dark fantasy vampire setting is well worth exploring, best wait for a few patches before exploring its vast open world.

The narrative might be subservient to the mechanics, and not as thematically evocative as I might like, but excellent writing does combine with quality, well-executed mechanics to give us the equivalent of a pulp fantasy page-turner, and like the stories of dark pulp fantasy writer, Robert E. Howard, it’s really (really) difficult to put down.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is the kind of ambitious RPG that invites you to lose yourself in its world, where your choices play a major role in shaping the story and allow you to experience it on your own terms. This freedom is the game’s biggest strength, while its deep RPG mechanics and engaging combat complement the experience nicely. Despite some shortcomings, Dawnwalker ultimately delivers a satisfying and memorable experience. With plenty of replay value and different paths to explore, it’s a game you can return to and experience in a whole new way. If you’re a fan of open-world RPGs with deep stories and meaningful choices, The Blood of Dawnwalker is a journey worth taking.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is an excellent start to a new universe, one that draws on the experience of the creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but which, thanks to the 30-day system, Coen’s transformation and the consequences of your decisions, quickly finds its own identity. The game’s greatest strengths are its superbly written quests, interesting characters and a world you’ll want to return to in order to experience completely different versions of events. The underdeveloped combat and technical issues can be irritating, but they do not detract from the fact that Rebel Wolves has created a large, ambitious RPG that is well worth checking out.

In a month packed with big-name releases, The Blood of Dawnwalker might be one of the best games of the bunch. It's a well-crafted adventure with an engaging story, an enjoyable world, interesting powers and a genuinely compelling approach to player choice. The time limit gives every decision weight. The open-ended storytelling makes exploration meaningful. The day/night system gives Coen two distinct ways to interact with the world. Most importantly, the game trusts you to make choices without constantly telling you whether you've made the "right" one.

Fails to live up to its potential and the expectations created by being associated with The Witcher series, but one I could recommend giving a chance during a quieter period.

The Blood of Dawnwalker executes its ideas brilliantly, to the point where you barely notice its limited budget, while delivering an RPG experience that can stand alongside The Witcher 3 in terms of its storytelling, atmosphere, and side quests, making it one of the most unique RPG titles of this generation

Although it has some flaws in combat, The Blood of Dawnwalker delivers a solid and characterful experience. Its time management system, the freedom to explore, and the choices that shape Coen's journey are its greatest strengths and make Rebel Wolves' RPG stand out from other games in the genre.

A new and intriguing action RPG that doesn's stray far away from The Witcher III's template, but delivers an engaging narrative experience full of memorable characters in a fascinating setting.

The Blood of Dawnwalker has an interesting core, but it throws too many obstacles in your way before you can get to it. Rebel Wolves builds a rich universe with many stories worth discovering, but its clunky mechanics and various issues with its main systems are hard to ignore.

An incredible debut from Rebel Wolves, The Blood of Dawnwalker delivers a refreshing twist on open-world RPGs with its dynamic day/night mechanics and compelling time-management system. Despite rough UI edges and a missing stealth system, its consequence-driven dark storytelling and punchy combat make it a must-play shot in the arm for the vampire genre.

Rebel Wolves doesn't need to prove that it can make an RPG. *The Blood of Dawnwalker* already proves it.

The Blood of Dawnwalker feels special in how it makes what could have been repetitive open world filler feel like core steps of a wider and more overarching narrative.

The Blood of Dawnwalker represents a bold, multi-layered undertaking that dares to foster a focused, responsible player rather than constructing an endless, passive playground.

Rebel Wolves' debut proves to be a baptism of fire, overcome with great authority and visceral passion, offering an unforgettable dark fantasy adventure to all lovers of great role-playing stories. Despite some technical and mechanical flaws, we are faced with a solid, courageous, and wonderfully written title. If you're looking for an experience that will captivate you and make you reflect on the consequences of your actions in a world devoid of hope, this journey into darkness is unreservedly worth your attention.

Dawnwalker’s timer certainly wasn't something that initially sat well with me, but after seeing its execution, and the amount you can accomplish, when certain paths have been removed, I've turned around it, at least somewhat. Regardless, Rebel Wolves has crafted a stunning world to explore, with characters, lore, and a story worth caring about. While they have oddly shown their cards as to Coen's future adventures, I still find reasons to revisit and scour every nook and cranny this world provides. It's worth sinking your teeth into.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is an ambitious, dark and surprisingly refreshing RPG that doesn’t quite achieve everything it sets out to do, but gets enough right to make its debut difficult to ignore.

The main issue that bothered me during my playthrough was combat against multiple enemies. The directional attack and blocking system works very well individually, but the camera and aiming system end up significantly hurting the experience when several opponents surround Coen. The stealth could also have been much more developed. For a game starring a vampire, with all the importance given to nighttime and hunting, I found the stealth possibilities far too simple. Basically, we crouch and try not to be detected, while certain actions, such as opening a door, can immediately alert enemies to our presence. The AI has some good moments during combat, but its limitations become obvious in certain chase situations. Even so, it is difficult to ignore how well the time structure works to create constant tension. Having only 30 days to save our family makes every decision feel important, even when we realize that there is enough time to build a very satisfying adventure. Before accepting a quest, I often found myself wondering whether that activity was really worth spending several hours of the calendar. Combined with the day and night cycle, activities exclusive to each period, vertical exploration, and the different skill trees, the system creates a dynamic that makes the world feel much more interesting than simply an open map filled with question marks. The ability to use a sword and vampiric claws, switch between different ability styles, and walk across walls also reinforces the feeling that Coen is becoming something different from a conventional medieval warrior. And it is precisely this combination that surprised me most about The Blood of Dawnwalker. The vertical exploration, vampiric movement, directional combat, dark atmosphere, and time-based quest structure create an experience I did not expect to find at this level in a vampire game. The influence of The Witcher is evident in several details, from the structure of certain quests to the presentation of characters and the object inspection system, but this did not bother me because there is a very natural evolution of these ideas within its own proposal. The combination of urgency in the story and the freedom to decide what to do creates a dynamic that works extremely well throughout the adventure. At any moment, there is a feeling that we could be doing something else, following another quest, or exploring a different path, and that uncertainty ends up being one of the most interesting and distinctive aspects of the experience.
