Ultimately, Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is compelling because it understands the part of the series that truly needed to be transformed into a game: the struggle of holding together a fleeing community.

Battlestar Galactica: Shattered Hopes faithfully recreates the feel of the show, with intense combat and interesting decision-making between dogfights.
Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes tests how well you hold up under pressure by forcing you to play a game of whack-a-mole against endless waves of Cylon attacks, political crises, and ethical dilemmas.
Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes feels like a genuine, honest extension of the cult favorite 2004 television show. It perfectly captures the dark, unrelenting tone of hopelessness that the TV show became known for. The hectic space combat has a fun, brisk pace to it that never overstays its welcome, and it is brilliantly balanced by more human moments with the crew on your ship. It doesn't necessarily reinvent the wheel for the roguelite genre, but if you're a fan of the franchise, this is going to be a game that will make you quite happy.
Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes does a great job of wrapping the 2004 TV series aesthetic around a tense and fraught roguelite battle for survival.
While Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes does a great job at recreating the atmosphere of the 2004 series, repetition between runs tends to settle in relatively quickly, as unlocking more perks and ship armaments doesn't really do much to provide greater variety.

Scattered Hopes feels as if it is relishing getting to play unobtrusively in a side-pocket of its IP’s fiction.
It's easy to consider Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes as the most definitive game in the franchise, especially for those who want to roleplay as the fabled Admiral Adama. Some frustrations and stressful interactions are present, but that's par for the course for a roguelite game.
Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes immerses us in the atmosphere of the acclaimed TV series through a tactical, story-driven interstellar journey. The roguelite gameplay is well-designed, though the high difficulty level might discourage newcomers to the genre. The art style and soundtrack are also excellent, though voice acting for the narrative scenes would have added a level of depth and player immersion.

For those who hold some love for sci-fi strategy games with long-lasting roguelite mechanics with a dollop of intrigue and space politics, Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is clearly for you.
There’s solid gameplay, but it’s a grind to find anything encouraging when everything is going wrong all the time, which does fit the IP and experience. And life in general, I suppose. So say we all.
