Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a solid entry in the series that diverts away from the standard stealth-based gameplay, focusing more on combat. The story is as tense as previous titles, but the knowledge of the protagonist coming out on the other side unscathed made it difficult to dive deep into her plights. Instead, the side characters really shine through, but leave more to be desired, as they aren’t featured as much as I would have liked. The gameplay has a heavier focus on combat, but when you need to sneak, the game shines and feels extremely suspenseful, making me crave more of it. It comes to a head with a final boss that ultimately sours the experience, making it more of a drag than the climactic finale that is to be expected. Overall, Resonance is a strong title that I wish had more of what I loved from previous entries in the series.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy opens a new gameplay chapter for Asobo Studio without losing the narrative focus and staging that defined the previous Plague Tale games. The shift toward action won't be to everyone's taste, but it's been executed really well and brings a fresh breeze to the series. Even though the credits roll after 12-14 hours for the campaign (15-20 for completionists), the experience was worth every minute for me, and I'd happily welcome more at this high level.

On the Tomb Raider reboot scale this is better than Shadow, not quite as good as Rise.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a prequel spinoff that takes a lot of interesting chances with the series, but only some of its experiments pay off.
Asobo's prequel adds toe-to-toe combat and hands-off puzzling to the Plague Tale recipe to winning effect – but the trauma porn of its second half takes considerable shine off an otherwise smartly paced action-adventure.
Overall, I liked Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. I think it adds a valuable chapter to the overall mythos of the series, and manages to carve out its own identity in several places without continuing to rely on fan-favorite Amicia or the terror of contending with waves of rats.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a great game with a compelling and excellently performed story. There are still ties back to the original series for fans, and still plenty of tense stealth section, but this is more action adventure with combat that offers a decent challenge. A new way to adapt the mythology of the Minotaur is the cherry that tops this experience.
It's as visually striking and polished as Asobo Studio's other releases, but is Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy a meaningful evolution for the IP?
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy tries very hard to replicate Naughty Dog's Uncharted magic, and in many ways the game succeeds, delivering solid exploration, well-balanced puzzles, and luxurious visuals, but sadly, the overall package is dragged down a couple of notches by uninspired, irritating combat. If you're willing to take the good with the bland, then Resonance may well be worth a stab, but given how packed 2026 is with big games, I don't see this latest Plague Tale going viral.
A haunting, emotional story is paired with fantastic combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving. Resonance: A Plague Tale solidifies the franchise as one of the best franchises of the modern era and shouldn't be missed.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is an incredible game from a clearly talented studio. While I did not get into the previous two games in the series, I always recognized their quality. This one though, really connected with me, and I loved it from start to finish.
Asobo Studio has delivered a fantastic adventure, leagues ahead of A Plague Tale: Requiem, and a clear demonstration of how much the team has grown. Unique, story-driven single-player experiences like this don't come around nearly as often these days, so this isn't one to skip. Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is absolutely worth playing.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy takes the series in a more combat-focused direction, and it pays off for the most part. This is a strong, cinematic blend of swordfights, puzzles, and parkour that still looks and feels a lot like A Plague Tale experience. A very slow start and a dreadful frame rate mar the third entry, though Resonance still comes out the other side a solid instalment.
With Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Asobo Studio hasn't just added another major work to its catalog; it may well be its best game to date.
