That vastness can occasionally act as a barrier between the player and the core tactics, but it is somehow able to support all that weight with memorable battles and a sharp gameplay loop. In the end, the only major problem is vacuous writing -- and lots of it.
A multi-stranded strategy RPG masterclass, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is absolutely a part of the conversation for being the very best game in this venerable series.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is one of the best strategy games of recent years, brilliantly building on the series’ tried-and-tested foundations whilst adding some brilliant new ideas. Brilliant tactical battles, four intertwining storylines and a wealth of options for developing your team mean you can easily spend over 100 hours in this world. Not all storylines and activities are of the same high standard, and the sheer number of systems can sometimes feel overwhelming, but for fans of the genre, this is an absolute must-play.

As Fire Emblem is not only about rich plot and dense battles, you can enjoy full-fledged game with large amount of activities between battles. Enriched with dungeons, nice world-map and better balance in the game structure, this is wonderful experience in the connected world full of top-tier content. You can decide how to manage your army, battle and especially time for everything this game offers.

Fortune’s Weave is massive in the best possible sense, balancing what fans love about the franchise while maintaining its own identity. Its well-written characters, intriguing campaign, unexpected twists, and connections to Fire Emblem: Three Houses make every decision feel meaningful, while branching paths, rewards, and losses add significant replay value. Exploring the Nabatean gods, their connection to Sothis and Three Houses, and developing the characters are especially rewarding. The game’s many mechanics also keep you engaged, constantly forcing strategic decisions both in battle and throughout the city and World Map. Ultimately, Fortune’s Weave is an immersive combination of strategy, storytelling, and meaningful choices. After years without giving a game a perfect score, I had no hesitation here: Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave deserves it.

Who loves Supports in Fire Emblem as much as I do and misses the more nuanced characters and connections of Three Houses might find Fortune's Weave somewhat lacking. But most of the time it is engrossing strategy fun that will make you wonder how the last few hours have vanished so quickly.

Beyond the sheer amount of story content, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave also brings with it plenty of the series’ familiar mechanics, which are introduced gradually and have to be managed along the way. The restrictions imposed at the beginning of each of the four Flame Lords’ stories can make their respective openings feel somewhat sluggish, but they reward the player’s persistence once the game opens up again after a few chapters. Fans of the series, and especially of Three Houses, should find plenty to enjoy here. Beginners, meanwhile, have the advantage of being given multiple opportunities to get to grips with the game’s many different mechanics, and can even use time travel to correct mistakes in individual chapters. Those willing to push through the repetitions and the somewhat tedious management of relationships and training in the capital will find a solid Fire Emblem experience with plenty of potential playtime.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave successfully combines the strong character-driven storytelling of Three Houses with the excellent tactical combat of Engage. Its four-protagonist structure offers a refreshing way to experience the same world from different perspectives, while the vast map and varied battles provide plenty to explore. Some repetition, tedious recruitment requirements, and underdeveloped dungeons hold it back slightly, but the overall formula works remarkably well.

While the core grid battles are brilliant, they are too often buried under clunky real-time dungeons and tedious open-world busywork. It is an ambitious, beautiful experiment, but strategy purists may find themselves left out in the cold.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave feels like four games in one, such is the scale on show. It might too much for some, but those who fall for it will live and breathe it for a long, long time because this is about as good as it gets for tactics fans.

Its classic turn-based combat is excellent, while the addictive side activities add plenty of variety. Some repetitive elements may put players off, but clever systems keep the grind to a minimum. Beautiful cutscenes, creative character designs, and a bombastic soundtrack round out an exceptional experience. It is, simply put, the best Switch 2 exclusive to date and one of the best games I've ever played.

I enjoyed every single one of the nearly 170 hours I spent with Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. The countless times I cursed at my units missing a 99% hit chance while enemies land their 10% shots is just part of the Fire Emblem experience. I'm still eager to learn more about the history of Fortune's Weave's world. I can overlook the lack of a New Game+ and the single save slot available to players. Attentive fans have already noticed a mention of in-game purchases in the eShop, though nothing of the sort has been announced yet. We'll have to wait and see what the future holds for Fortune's Weave.
