A much-needed leap in quality for the series. It’s no longer just a Hot Wheels game—it’s now a key title to watch in the genre. It still has a long way to go; there are aspects that need improvement, such as the impact sensation, the sound of the vehicles, and a more distinct personality… On the other hand, behind the wheel, it feels like a complete experience—one that no longer requires as many “buts” as it used to. The sense of speed is very well done, and a large number of events and challenges have been introduced across its four islands, which you can now explore freely.

With unmemorable tracks and maps that completely lack the sense of scale we get in the life-sized, real-world environments of the Unleashed games, Hot Wheels Infinite Rush has sadly shed a ton of the series' special charm.

Infinite Rush is still a solid racing game, which is what makes the online multiplayer component so much more disappointing.
A fun, breezy open-world racer that does a great job of capturing the magic of the toys, Hot Wheels Infinite Rush is likely to fill plenty of hours with car-ramming delight for younger players. For everyone over the age of 12, there's Forza Horizon.
There’s a ton of cool cars to unlock and secrets to find, although it won’t top Forza Horizon as the best open-world arcade racing game on PlayStation 5.
Whatever the case, the core Hot Wheels experience is here and there's lots to do, but with a dearth of personality nor a reason to be as big as it is, Infinite Rush is every bit as hollow as it is huge. No amount of collecting everything and completing everything will mask this entry's lack of ambition, and in spite of all that it does well, these wheels aren't Hot, they're tepid.

Milestone's Hot Wheels series embraces the open-world format and plunges us into a quartet of islands filled with races to win and activities to complete, all while collecting over 150 different mini-cars. The gameplay progression isn't particularly rewarding, and after just a few hours you've seen everything the game has to offer, but the thrill of collecting and the online component still manage to keep the player engaged.

For younger players who want a bright collection of Hot Wheels cars and a big playground to drive around, there’s plenty here to enjoy. Players looking for the polished arcade-racing depth associated with something like Mario Kart, however, should probably keep their expectations in check.
Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush is a decent arcade racing game, but only because it features the same great handling from the Unleashed titles. Moving to an open world structure does little to add to the experience; if anything, I think it detracts from it. Having said that, there's absolutely still fun to be had here. Collecting all the cars and blasting through races is very enjoyable, and controlling these die-cast toys retains its appeal despite the game's faults.
All things considered, we have to admit that the conceptual ambition that gave birth to the project was not adequately supported in the production phase, delivering into the hands of fans a product that is visually successful and characterized by a pleasant driving model but somewhat weak in terms of structure. It remains a game aimed at an audience of all ages, with all the advantages and limitations that this entails.

It might be far and away bigger than any Hot Wheels game that has come before, but a certain dash of magic has been sacrificed at the open-world altar. Milestone's care and reverence for these die-cast 1:64 scale miniatures is utterly unmatched, and their ability to deliver a brand of fun in keeping with the Hot Wheels name is commendable.
