Them's Fightin' Herds is an honest to goodness experience with its own visual identity. If you are looking for a title of the genre that is sold at a low price, but that offers a complete fighting system, the game is probably for you. Nevertheless, the low number of characters, the uninteresting story and the generous hitboxes are to be noted. Overall, the experience offered by Mane6 is quite respectable despite a few things that need to be fixed. The developers also plan to add more content later on via a seasonal subscription.

Almost everything that’s currently present in Them’s Fightin’ Herds is excellent, with the exception of a few platforming sections in the story mode. The issue is that even two years after initially releasing on PC, it still doesn’t feel like a completed game, nor have the developers been clear about when that will change. If what’s here sounds like enough for you, though, or you’re a big My Little Pony fan, you should absolutely give Them’s Fightin’ Herds a chance.

On a technical level, it represents one of the better 1v1 fighters on the market, due to its approachable controls, tactical action, and balanced system of offensive and defensive maneuvers. Regrettably, the single player content and character roster that surround that strong mechanical core are lacking.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds has the technical chops to roll with the competitive fighting scene. Looks can be deceiving, and this game will probably be skipped by too many people simply because it doesn’t look the part. The small character roster won’t help things, either. Still, with a solid fighting core, Mane6 has a good thing going here, and hopefully the release of Them’s Fightin’ Herds fuels a continuous stream of updates.

Them's Fightin' Herds is an absolute must for the most fanatical fans of the genre that fails in the amount of content it has to show. With a visual aspect of 10, we will have a great time.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds is a fine surprise, and, more importantly, it is a fine game. It reminds me a lot of the original BlazBlue, which had a relatively small cast, but it kept building on it’s core design and amazing potential.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds has a fantastic foundation, but that foundation is unfinished. Launching with a scant seven characters would be easier to swallow if the promising story mode had more than one completed chapter.

Them's Fightin' Herds is a very enjoyable game with more than a few caveats. The fighting is fun and has plenty of depth, but the tiny roster can feel very limiting. Online play is smooth and there are a number of things to do and options to work with, but it also means that experiencing defeat at the hands of a small but skilled player population will be done without any lag. Story mode is filled with plenty of awesome ideas and humorous moments, but the platforming will drive you up the wall, even in the story's incomplete state. Hardcore fighting game fans will love it, but more casual fans will need to temper expectations.

Despite my initial hesitations, I actually have been having quite a bit of fun with TFH, but there’s still a lot left to do to get this game to where it feels more complete.

There is just so much about this fighting title they just do right, being highly accessible to beginner fighting game players, or even having the scope to be super entertaining for seasoned pros. There is so much to do in Them’s Fightin Herds that I just hope they keep adding content along the way.

Finally Them's Fightin' Herds is available on consoles and proves to be a very competent fighting game. Although its reduced cast and the inconvenient challenges of the story mode weigh a little, the concept of fights between quadrupeds, the strong charisma, the good variety of modes and the unique campaign concept draw attention within the genre and make it a title worth checking out.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds delivers a unique and varied cast of characters that promise a high-caliber fighting game experience. If all you are looking for is that, I cannot find any reason not to recommend this game. However, if you, like me, struggle with playing online and need an enjoyable and robust single-player offering to get into the genre, this game will likely fall short for you.

It’s safe to say that Them’s Fightin’ Herds subverted our expectations. It’s easy to look at it and think that it’s going to be a jokey affair, and while there is an air of playfulness about it, at its core is a solid, taut fighting system. Add in the genuinely unique story mode, and you have a fighting game that’s well worth your time and money, despite having a limited roster of fighters and uninspiring stages.

In 2022, it is ever so slightly harder to recommend when games in the triple A space seem to have taken notice of features that TFH beat them to market with. If you want a game with heart, soul, and a unicorn that shoots a demon out of her magic book, you've come to the right place. if you want a fighting game that's got the correct number of buttons for single Joy-Con play with a friend on the go, TFH ain't a bad choice for that either!.

For a fighting game that came out in 2018 and is finally reaching consoles, along with the cross-platform play function following the console release, it’s a really cute game. It really grew from one concept to another but still managed to keep the basis of it which is cute hoofed animals duking it out with magic players.

Them's Fightin' Herds isn't entry-level stuff, and it's impressive that an indie developer has created something that professional teams take years to master. Soft and furry in appearance though it is, this is a robust and fleshed-out fighting game, and one that demands practice. It's challenging even on its default difficulty with AI that won't fall prey to simple or repetitive routines. While its story mode is engineered toward a particular fanbase, the wild combo-building demonstrates an excellent multiplayer experience. Thematically, its draw might be limited, but there's no real ceiling in its appeal to fighting game fans. While would have been nice to have had a few more characters out of the box and a little more invention in its world-building backgrounds, if you're here for pure fighting game action, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Don't let the delightfully twee My Little Pony style aesthetic fool you, Them's Fightin' Herds is an ultra legitimate, one on one fighter with an abundance of charm and an unexpectedly compelling story mode. Though the diminutive roster is a concern, Them's Fightin' Herds is nonetheless a superb fighter that I fear owing to its decidedly cutesy presentation, not nearly enough folks will play.

It's not possible to know if Them’s Fightin’ Herds would have gained notoriety without everything that happened back then, but what matters is that the occasion's spotlight brought it the necessary attention for fighting game fans to find out about this excellent title, which manages to be just as competent as the ones from big studios. It's now time to wait for more characters and the remainder of Story Mode so the experience can be more complete.
