Even if RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 hasn't aged as gracefully as its predecessors, there's plenty of fun to be had. If you still have the original and can run it fine, you don't need to buy it again. But if you're someone who never got to play it, can't run Planet Coaster, and miss the old school approach to the Tycoon genre, the Complete Edition is a neat relic to a bygone era of gaming. Just be prepared for some outdated features and a shockingly small UI.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition brings the classic theme park building sim and all of its DLC to Switch in a generously priced package that's hard to knock. A very well-implemented control scheme streamlines the potentially fussy business of managing menus and constructing great big behemoths and, besides a few judders here and there when your park gets crazy busy – a problem inherited from earlier versions of the game – the whole thing runs pretty smoothly in docked and handheld modes while still managing to look good (thanks in part to a HD lick of paint) some sixteen years after its original release. This is one ride Switch sim fans should absolutely consider jumping aboard.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is a timeless classic that is always worth being reminded about. Some things were done well to begin with and the Complete Edition brings us back to the thrilling excitement of management sims.

Having Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 in Nintendo Switch is something seems like a dream beacause Nintendo’s take advantage of simulation games. However, although there are a few positive aspects, we see a port which still needs a lot of polishing and it has not been able to exploit the platform where it is, hindering the very important management process for the game.

In a world where games like Planet Coaster exist as a more modern take on the exact same formula with many of the same features, I don't even know if nostalgia is a justifiable position on this one. If all you're really interested in is the idea of a portable park management sim this one is still a pretty alright entry into the genre, but it definitely still feels and looks like a game that came out in 2004. Add to that the clunky gamepad controls and I can say for sure that if you're dead set on buying Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, the Switch is probably not the place to do it.

RollerCoaster is a great little title to add to your collection if you're either a nostalgia buff or fancy having a classic management sim on the go. Otherwise, you might be best sticking to something a little more current.

Ever since the original title in the series way back in the day I’ve been a big RCT fan...

Regardless, in a time when visiting real-life amusement parks is highly questionable (if not outright impossible), it's nice to still be able to enjoy them in virtual form with RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition.

As long as you understand that you’re about to play a game that has aged significantly (it was originally released in 2004, after all), then you’ll have a great time with RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition. Yes, it doesn’t look that great nowadays. Yes, its UI is janky and confusing. That doesn’t mean you won’t have tons of fun coming up with the stupidest, most gravity-defying rides in history.

Rollercoaster simulation from 2004 is live again and with both expansions is still worth to play. But there are some issues.

Overall, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 is a great game, but not on Nintendo Switch. The controls are too difficult and not well optimized for a console experience. The menus are hard to navigate and park customization is difficult to do using only buttons when it is so clearly meant for the finesse of a mouse and keyboard.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition is a nostalgic trip down amusement park lane that feels every bit its age.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition is a whole lot of fun to play on the Nintendo Switch – even if the controls can feel a little fiddly to begin with. There’s a ton of depth to the park-building aspects of the game thanks to the sheer number of attractions available, whilst fine-tuning the business side remains mighty satisfying too. Every decision you make will have a positive or negative effect on the park, with the buzz of each success you have making the experience all the more addictive. Or you could go bankrupt and start over fresh… who knows? Either way, there’s no denying the fun offered by RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition, even IF it is sixteen-years old now. I certainly won’t deny that it’s probably better played with a keyboard and mouse, but those excited to play it on console or on the go will definitely enjoy their time with the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

Nonetheless, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 is a delight on Nintendo Switch. It's the ideal pick-up-and-play game for those commutes, it's also the kind of game that you can play while also doing something else, like watching a movie or TV show. And it's the kind of game that, if you want it to, can occupy hour upon hour of your time. The Nintendo Switch is steadily building up a library of excellent simulators, but even among them, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 might be the most playable, blissfully entertaining of them all.

Whilst there’s barely been any kind of update to the visuals and the complication of moving PC controls to a controller is present and correct, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition is a delight, purely because it’s always been a damn fun video game and in that regard, like everything else about this game, nothing has changed.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 comes to Switch in all of it's glory, but with the trade-off being a less than desirable control scheme.

With a very small amount of reductions made for performance, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition on the Nintendo Switch is a triumph of port work. The developers should be proud to have pulled off what seems like an almost impossible feat. To have this fully featured and much-loved title on a portable console will have revolutionised many people's spare time. A fantastic game and one that nobody should hesitate to pick up!

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is a fantastic game that even 16 years later remains one of the most entertaining simulation titles ever made. Playing the game without a mouse and keyboard leaves much to be desired, and even after getting over the learning curve, it's still a murky prospect indeed. But if you simply must have a portable Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, there's plenty of thrills to be had.
